Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is one of the most important food crops, providing food for nearly half of the world population. Rice grain yields are affected by temperature changes. Temperature stresses, both low and high, affect male reproductive development, resulting in yield reduction. Thermosensitive genic male sterility (TGMS) rice is sterile at high temperature and fertile at low temperature conditions, facilitating hybrid production, and is a good model to study effects of temperatures on male development. Semithin sections of the anthers of a TGMS rice line under low (fertile) and high (sterile) temperature conditions showed differences starting from the dyad stage, suggesting that genes involved in male development play a role during postmeiotic microspore development. Using RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq), transcriptional profiling of TGMS rice panicles at the dyad stage revealed 232 genes showing differential expression (DEGs) in a sterile, compared to a fertile, condition. Using qRT-PCR to study expression of 20 selected DEGs using panicles of TGMS and wild type rice plants grown under low and high temperature conditions, revealed that six out of the 20 selected genes may be unique to TGMS, while the other 14 genes showed common responses to temperatures in both TGMS and wild-type rice plants. The results presented here would be useful for further investigation into molecular mechanisms controlling TGMS and rice responses to temperature alteration.

Phenological performance in relation to yield of wheat genotypes; BARI Gom 26, BAW 1051, BARI Gom 27 and BARI Gom 28 were evaluated under normal and heat stress environments. One irrigated timely sowing (ITS) and three irrigated late sowings (ILS) were imposed to provide terminal high temperature over the tested genotypes. The ITS was November 25 and three ILS were December 10, December 25 and January 10. In heat stress condition, the genotypes phased a significant level of high temperature stress which affected on phenological stage and yield compared to ITS. In ITS situation, days to anthesis and booting decreased in heat stress condition regardless the cultivars. The phenological characteristics under heat stressed condition led the wheat cultivars to significantly lower grain yield as compared to normal condition. In heat stress situations (Dec 10–Jan 10), the average grain yield was reduced by12.8 -39.8 % in BARI Gom 26, 14.4-29.7% in BAW 1051, 11.5-26.5% in BARI Gom 27 and 17.4-25.6 % in BARI Gom 28 in both the season. It was also observed that grain yield was found to be reduced by about 7.7-15.4% in BARI Gom 26, 9.4-15.7 % in BAW 1051, 9.4-12.4% in BARI Gom 27 and 9.7-12.0% in BARI Gom 28 from ITS for each 1°C rise in average mean air temperature during booting to maturity. On the other hand, reduction percent were less for the new varieties. Grain yield reduction was about 1.4 - 2.65% in BARI Gom 28, 0.1-6.7 % in BARI Gom 27 and 1.7-6.0% in BAW 1051.Bangladesh Agron. One of the goals of the village innovation program is to improve the quality of the use of the Village Fund through various development activities that are part of the government's commitment to providing access to manage village potential and improve community welfare. Potential tourism objects, longan plantations, onions, and organic fertilizer management in Kuala Sempang Village, Srikuala Lobam Sub-district, Bintan Regency can be utilized through innovative villages because they have the potential to help the community's economic security. The purpose of this study is to know the Village Independence Strategy Through the Village Innovation Program. The research applies a qualitative approach. The results of study 1) Socio-cultural conditions still reflect the flexibility of the original culture in the village of Kuala Sempang and the program carried out received community support, 2) Economic resilience has increased from the previous year but still experienced obstacles such as limited manager skills, lack of community knowledge to participate in the program, 3) The environment and infrastructure are still experiencing obstacles. The village independence strategy through the innovation program in the village of Kuala Sempang has been quite optimal because it has referred to the achievement of program goals and objectives, even though it has not been running optimally.

The experiment was conducted at the Agronomy Field Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during February to June 2017 to study the feasibility of different direct seeded rice based intercropping systems under varying fertilizer management. The experiment was conducted in afactorialrandomized complete block design with three replications. Four leafy vegetables viz., gimakalmi, Indian spinach, red amaranth andjute were intercropped with dry direct seeded boro rice (cv. BRRI dhan28) following three fertilizer dose such as 100, 75 and 125% of recommended fertilizer, and sole rice was also maintained as control. Rice yield was the highest (3.87t ha-1) in sole cropping, and intercroppingresulted insignificant rice yield reduction. Although inintercropping rice yielddecreased, but increased both gross margin and benefit cost ratio (BCR) as compared to rice sole cropping. Among the vegetables, gimakalmi performed the best followed by red amaranth in terms of yield and 125% recommended fertilizer was the best fertilizer dose. Gimakalmi intercropped with rice following 125% recommended fertilizer showed the highest gross return and BCR (2.53). Therefore, vegetables like gimakalmi and red amaranth couldbe recommended as intercrop with dry direct seeded winter rice with 125% recommended fertilizer for better productivity and higher economicreturn. Disaster insurance is an important tool for achieving sustainable development in modern agriculture. However, in China, the design of such insurance indexes is far from sufficient. In this paper, the single-season rice in Jiangsu Province of China is taken as an example to design the high-temperature damage index in summer and the low-temperature damage index in autumn to construct the formula calculating the weather output and single-season rice yield reduction. The daily highest, lowest and average temperatures between 1999 and 2015 are selected as main variables for the temperature disaster index to quantitatively analyze the relationship between the temperature index and the yield reduction rate of the single-season rice. The temperature disaster index can be put into the relevant model to obtain the yield reduction rate of the year and determine whether to pay the indemnity. Then, the burn analysis is used to determine the insurance premium rate for all cities in Jiangsu Province under four-level deductibles, and the insurance premium rate can be used for the risk division of the Province. The research provides some insights for the design of agricultural weather insurance products, and the empirical results provide a reference for the design of similar single-season rice temperature index insurance products.
