Montessori Method is rarely used in Indonesia, especially Samarinda, and schools that apply this method are still relatively few. Teachers who choose this method and teach in schools that use this method are ready to face the challenges based on Pertiwi et al. (2020) when teaching children to learn English using a specific Method. This article reports a qualitative study that figures out the Teacher's challenges in teaching English for young learners around 5-6 years old using Montessori Method to "Follow the child" and use the English Language as their instruction language. Two kindergarten English teachers in Nido Montessori School participated in this study, and data were collected through interview-based on case study design. This study indicated that teachers face several challenges when teaching English to young learners using the Montessori Method. Children who lack the English Language create limited communication between teachers and children because children can express what they need using the Language. Children with different characteristics challenges teachers focus on each of them and follow all of their need. Teaching English to the young learner using Montessori Method sometimes does not match the teaching topic or lesson, and this challenging Teacher to quickly use another teaching technique to make all the children able to follow the lesson. In conclusion, teaching English to young learners using a specific method (Montessori Method) will challenge the English Teacher.

In Indonesia, English is a foreign language, hence not easy to teach English to young learner in Indonesia, thus, need something interesting to teach English to young learners, one of which uses instructional media. Instructional media as a tool needed to facilitate the teachers in presenting the material, but many English teachers in Indonesia find it difficult to use instructional media in the classroom. This study aims to (1) how the teacher applied the instructional media in the classroom. (2) to investigate problems faced by the teacher, and (3) elaborate the teacher's strategies in solving problems using the instructional media. This study was conducted a case study design, by using observation and interviews to collect data. In the investigation teachers do not have free access to use the media provided at school. Thus, they faced obstacles to provide proper media in classroom. The ultimate purpose of conducting this study is to explore teaching performance of pre-service in teaching English to young learners. This is an instrumental case study, using explanatory approach which scrutinize a particular case to gain insight to an issue or theory by involving sources of information to provide in-depth study. Furthermore the findings of this research is expected to underpin realistic aims and current curricular innovation for teaching English to young learners (TEYL). The findings of this study are classified into four aspects: Teaching Aim, Teaching Reflection, Teaching Approach, and Teaching Challenges. Pre-service teachers understood their purpose in teaching English young learners. Throughout the classroom observations and interviews, it was found that pre-service teachers provided relatable tasks for young learners; they focused on course objective; they established good bond with young learners before implementing the lessons. Their challenges in Teaching are to establish parent-teacher relationship and to identify learners’ learning skills. This study is expected to contribute insights to English language teaching area about Pre-service Teachers’ Teaching Performance in Teaching English to Young Learners by immersing into the world of teaching English to Young learners.

The purpose of this study to determine the effect of music in language learning against young students in one primary school in Batujajar Kabupaten Bandung Barat. Some of the things that become the focus in this research is how much influence created from music when applied in language learning especially for young learners. This study uses case study design. The subject of this research is the some students of first grade of elementary school. Subjects were analyzed based on their abilities after the application of this study and any positive impact that arose from young learners after the study. And reported descriptively. After analyzed the data shows the influence of music, that students look more excited in the process of learning the language. The data also indicated that some students be able to showed cheerfulness and showed good interaction with the other students. With reference to the findings suggested to teachers to teach the language especially to young learners can use the music as a support in the teaching process.Key words:Music, Language, Young Learner.

With the availability of English teaching and learning facilities in most schools as well as in English language centers in Vietnam nowadays, storytelling is believed to be one of the most suitable techniques to improve young learners’ communicative competences; therefore, it should be further investigated and promoted. With the aim of fully exploiting storytelling in Vietnamese English language teaching contexts, the research is designed to discuss and evaluate its effectiveness as a teaching technique to enhance young learners’ speaking and listening skills - a well-matched couple of oral competences. Conducted with mixed research methods through the use of questionnaires, interview and observation, the outcomes, conclusions, theories as well as evaluations and recommendations put forward in the study are of great validity and reliability. Based on the rationale of this teaching technique, some models and activities for teaching demonstration are designed and carried out in real language environments in order to evaluate its advantages as well as disadvantages. From what have been discovered, the study can serve as a reference for teachers who wish to enhance their students’ listening and speaking skills by means of storytelling.

While relevant literature presents us different studies examining teaching English to young learners from an application and practice perspective, its theoretical side, i.e., how to instruct pre-service teachers in foreign language departments to teach the language to young learner profiles is still an area needing investigation. Conducted in English Language Teaching department at a state university in Turkey, this case study was purposed to evaluate the effectiveness of integrating articles into TEYL II course. The participants were 36 students taking TEYL II course in the third grade. The data of this case study were collected through open-ended questions and classroom observations. The data were analyzed through conventional content analysis. The results revealed that integrating articles into TEYL II course had educational, linguistic, affective and individual/group-work-related contributions to participants. Setting out from the results, it can be suggested that articles can be rich sources of theoretical content and offer a scientific base for discussion. Besides, article integration in courses with applicable content is also suggested.

<p>In response to the need of qualified teaching English in primary level, successful English teaching has become a crucial and challenging issue. This exploratory case study examines the perspectives of teachers regarding successful English language teaching for young learners. Data of this study was collected from multiple interviews with seven English teachers teaching in five Islamic Integrated Elementary Schools in Bogor that offer English as an additional language (EAL). The findings reveal that the participants of this study had relatively the same understanding or perspectives on teaching English for young learners on eight criteria among the nine criteria of successful English language teaching to young learners. It was also found that five criteria had 100% agreement and were in line with the theories of successful teaching English to young learners. There was one criterion that had 57% inlined result. There were three inlined criteria which were relatively the same amount with 86%. Therefore, the other criterion was not in accordance with the seven respondents with 0% agreement.</p>

<p>Achieving a near-native speaker’s pronunciation is so essential for EFL learners. However, many factors contribute to the challenges faced by EFL learners, mainly due to the difference in the sound system of English Language and that of their first language. For this reason, Arab learners of English Language may mispronounce some English sounds. This paper analyzed one of the few problematic sounds to the Arab Yemeni EFL learners - the pronunciation of the English voiceless postalveolar affricate /ʧ/. The study which has a quantitative case study design uses four Yemeni EFL postgraduate students as its participants. The participants’ pronunciations of /tʃ/ sound in the initial, middle and final word-positions were analyzed using Praat phonetic software. The findings of the study showed that Yemeni EFL learners have difficulties in producing the /tʃ/ sound, especially in the initial and final positions, and deaffrication of /tʃ/  occurred in the  pronunciation of the four participants. The current study is expected to be of value, particularly for EFL learners, teachers, as well as material writers.</p><p> </p>

Total management of overcrowded classrooms have across-the-board effects for English as a Second Language teaching and learning environments as in any subject. Greater attainment and achievements in schools depend on the choices made with regard to teacher-learner ratios that consider of classroom management. Recruitment of learners and teachers should ensure that classrooms are enabled to meet the demands of professional teaching challenges, amongst other, inidvidualised teaching and learning. The aim of the research was to explore the challenges and related matters in managing English as a Second Language overcrowded classrooms. A qualitative approach, steered by a case study design, purposively guided the study. It was deemed fit in order to understand the phenomena with deeper understanding of beliefs and situated lived experiences. Semi-structured interviews and nonparticipant observations were used as methods to generate data for analysis. The research exposed that copious problems were experienced by teachers and leaners who were subjected to overcrowded classrooms. Amongst many, noise and unruly behaviour, poor time management and teaching approaches result in such classes. Guiding principles regarding sound teacher-learner ratios should be put in place by policymakers and schools in order to support both teachers and learners for the success of teaching and learning.

Recently, teaching English for young learners especially for elementary school level still becomes problem in practice especially in Pekanbaru. Practically, the teachers teach their students without standard guidance to go with such as curriculum and syllabus because for fourth grades students, English Language subject looks like as extra subject which affects the effort to teach maximal. As response to this issue, the researcher has developed a learning media which focuses on vocabulary mastery which provides chance for the students to learn with or without teacher. There are five stages in developing this media which called by Barcorious such as analyzing students’ need, designing media, developing content and design, implementation media, and evaluation. This study describes the implementation of Barcorious application to enhance students’ vocabulary mastery. Indeed, this media was implemented for teaching four grade students. There was one class which consisted of 35 students participated. The finding shows this media can give significant improvement of students’ vocabulary mastery because the students’ post-test higher than pre-test.
