<p>Abstract: This study was aimed to investigate how Co-op technique can be implemented to improve reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of MTsN Ngawi who faced the problems in reading. The students did not comprehend the text and the score was low. The average score of reading test in preliminary study was 67 where as the average score of student’ success based on the minimum standard of students’ score is seventy (70). The design of this study was classroom action research. The technique applied in the research was Co-op technique. The result showed that the students reading average score significantly improved. In two cycle study, in the first test the students reading average score was 69.54, in the second test the students reading score was 76.15. It could be concluded that predetermined criteria of success had been achieved.</p>

This research was based on the researcher's preliminary study which found that the students could not comprehend the meaning of texts in their textbook.   This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aims to improve the students’ reading comprehension in narrative text through simplified text at grade VIII of SMP Budhi Luhur Pekanbaru. The research was administered to the second year students of SMP Budhi Luhur Pekanbaru. The total population was 34 students. After analyzing the data, the researcher found a significant effect of simplified text toward reading at the second-year SMP Budhi Luhur Pekanbaru students, where the average score from the based score was 58. It increased to 66 at the end of the cycle I. Finally, the average score of cycle II was 75. So it can be concluded that simplified text can increase the students' reading skill at grade VIII SMP Budhi Luhur Pekanbaru

This research used Classroom Action Research. Think Pair Share can be trusted to help students comprehend reading skill. The population of the research were the students of SMPN 3 Klari Karawang in Academic years 2017-2018. The total population of the students in this academic year are 280 students. The number of sample were 30 students. The data was gathered from the test and observation. After being implementated of Think Pair Share activities in every cycle, the students’ reading score were getting better. We can see from the result of students’ average score Cycle I 63.47 and Cycle II 79.67. In conclusion, the Technique of Think Pair Share can improve learners’ reading comprehension.

This research basically is conducted to improve students’ reading comprehension through KWL (Know, What, to learn) at the eight grade of SMP Islam Al-Asmaniyah. This research had been done at eigth grade of SMP Islam Al-Asmaniyah located Kab. Tangerang, Banten. This research had been taken in semester II. It had done since April 2018 – June 2018 in academic year 2017 – 2018. This research is classroom action research with qualitative approach. As for design classroom action research which is used in this study is to use a model of Kemmis and McTaggart that used 3 cycles where each cycle included planing, acting, observing, and reflecting. The result of reading test in cycle I using KWL got the average score of 71,8 where there are 59 % students that got KKM. In cycle II, the result of reading test using KWL got the average score of 76 where there are 76% students that got KKM. The students were easier to read the text given. Although they still found difficult in understanding the text because of the limitation of their vocabulary. The result of reading test got better in cycle III. The students were more understand in doing their activity in KWL and more active in learning. In this cycle, they got the average score of 83,2 where there are 93% students that got KKM. KWL can be considered as an effective way to improve students’ achievement in reading comprehension.

Based on a preliminary study, the researcher found that the students at grade XISocial Science of SMA Kalam Kudus Pekanbaru had problems in comprehending hortatoryexposition texts. They were difficult to understand contents and to identify generic structureof the texts. Besides, the teacher had used some strategies in teaching readingcomprehension, but they were still not effective. In this case, the researcher decided to solvethese problems in reading by conducting a classroom action research by applying GraphicOrganizer. The purposes of this research were to find out whether Graphic Organizer canimprove students’ reading comprehension of hortatory exposition texts and the factors thatinfluence the changes of students reading comprehension of hortatory exposition texts. Thisclassroom action research was done in two cycles with four meetings in each cycle; threemeetings for teaching reading comprehension of hortatory exposition texts by applyingGraphic Organizer and one meeting for the test. The research was conducted from August02, 2017 until August 25, 2017. In collecting the data, researcher used readingcomprehension tests, observation sheets, field notes, and interview. Then, the data wereanalyzed in quantitative and qualitative. The research findings showed that there was animprovement of students’ score in reading comprehension of hortatory exposition texts testsafter applying Graphic Organizer. The average score of students in cycle 1 was 65 and cycle2 was 70. Then, the factors that influence the improvement of students’ readingcomprehension of hortatory exposition texts were students’ activeness, teaching material,and teachers’ role. In conclusion, the implementation of Graphic Organizer could improvestudents’ reading comprehension of hortatory exposition texts at grade XI Social Science ofSMA Kalam Kudus Pekanbaru.

The objective of this research is to explain the development of Individual C-Trans plus DRTA Method in improving students’ reading comprehension among the eighth-grade Students of SMP Negeri 40 Bulukumba. The researcher used A Classroom Action Research (CAR) in this research. The researcher had conducted two cycles, where each cycle consisted of two meetings. It employed a reading test as an instrument. A number of the subject of the researcher were 31 students in XI class. Those consist of 13 men and 18 women. The findings consisted tests, students’ reading comprehension, and observation results. The first cycle of the first meeting was 57,58 and the second meeting was 63,54 and then the researcher tried to do the next cycle and the result in cycle II that was increasing of students score. In cycle II of the first meeting was 77,90 and the second meeting was 81,61. The conclusion of the research using C-Trans plus DRTA is able to improve the students’ reading comprehension (main idea) at the eighth grade. It was proved by the students’ achievement in cycle II was higher than cycle I and D-Test where in cycle I the students’ mean score reading comprehension becomes first meeting was 57,58 and the second meeting was 63,54, cycle II  of the first meeting was  77,90 and the second meeting was 81,61. Based on the research findings, the implementation of Individual C-Trans plus DRTA Method showed success in improving reading comprehension.

<em>This study intended to describe how the process of teaching and learning using WebQuest can develop the ninth graders’ writing ability of report text. The subjects included the 15 ninth graders. The students were taught to be able to write report texts by using WebQuest after they visit the web addresses given in the two cycles of classroom action research. Their writing ability achievement and the information on students’ interaction during the teaching and learning process were attained by overseeing writing products at the end of each cycle and by using observation checklists and field notes. The result indicated that WebQuest was successful in developing the students’ writing ability of report texts. The comparison of the students’ scores in the preliminary study and in Cycle 2 was significantly developed. In preliminary study, the students’ average score was 50.8. While in the cycle two, the students’ score was 76.8.</em>

The aims of this research is to improve reading comprehension of the eighth-grade students using think-pair-share technique. The researchers applying this technique is to make students actively learn in classthrough pair discussions and sharing information with their friends. The researchers used a classroom action research (CAR) method, this research has been carried out in three cycles to achieve students improvement in reading comprehension. The mean scores of students in the first cycle is 57.60, in the second cycle is 64.67, and in  the third cycle is 77.20. The mean scores of the three cycles prove that the think-pair-share technique has succeeded in improving students' reading comprehension of recount text. Keywords: Think-Pair-Share, Reading comprehension ,Recount text.

This research was designed to improve the students` reading comprehension through Think Talk Write at the first-grade students of SMKN 1 Lasusua. The research problem was “The reading comprehension of the first- grade students of SMKN 1 Lasusua is low”. The design of this research was collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR).In this research, there were two cycles. The first cycle was not success because the result of the students’ test did not fulfill the KKM, so there was the next cycle. The second cycle was success because the result of the student test achieved the KKM mandatory by the school. In addition, this research must get score of 70 to fulfill the Minimum Mastery Criterion – Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM). It could be seen in the average score, it was 68.6 in the first cycle, and there were only 17 students from 35 students got greater score than or equal 70. This score increased to be 74.77 in the second cycle, there were 26 from 35 students got score greater than or equal 70. It means that this research was successful. Based on the findings, the conclusion is Think Talk Write strategy could improve the students` comprehension in reading at the first-grade students of SMKN 1 Lasusua.

Reading is a multileveled and interactive process in which readers contruct a meaningful representation of text using their schemata. While it has been known for some time that both content and formal schemata are necessary for complete understanding of written texts in a reader’s first language (L1), and has been suspected to be true in the reader’s second language (L2). The purpose of this thesis is twofold. The first, to give a brief overview of some of the literature that deals with scanning as the alternative technique to teach reading comprehension. The second goal, to disscuss the implemetation of scaaning in the reading class. This classroom action research was intended to comprehend students’ reading in scanning recount text at SMPN 1 Glagah in the 2013/2014 academic year. It was conducted at the eighth year students. The respondent oh this research was consisted of 54 students who cocsisted of each class of the eighth grade. This respondents were chosen becouse they were as example of sample to establish the technique had goal or not. Involving the English teacher's preparation, the instructional activities conducted by the teachers, the material or technique used in the teaching of reading comprehension, the evaluation reading comprehension, and other factors that students succeed in the reading comprehension. The instruments of collecting data used test and documentation. The reading comprehension focused in recount text which used scanning technique. The reading comprehension test was used to get primary data about the students’ reading comprehension of English passages. In the implementation to find the value of reading comprehension by scanning techinique for the first time was providing related question reading test of recount text. It was done to determine the value students reading comprehension by using that technique mentioned above. So that, it will be known later on how to comprehend reading text. In the evaluation, the researcher got the test score from the respondent or students. Based on the result, it be concluded that the reading comprehension by scaanning technique had side-effect to improve the reading ability students and help the students of the eighth grade at SMPN 1 Glagah who they got some reading test which focused in recount text.

Abstract. The objectives of this research is to figure out whether or not the implementation of SQ3R technique can improve reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of Mts Al-Khairiyah in academic year 2018/2019. Therefore, to achieve the objective, the writer conducted a action research. This research was conducted in two cycles where each cycle had 2 sessions. The data were analyzed by comparing the result of pre-test and post-test. The result post- test showed the significant improvement. This research furthermore showed that most of the subjects gave positive response that SQ3R technique was successfully applied in improving the subjects’ reading comprehension. In conclusion, the present classroom action study proved that SQ3R technique could improve reading comprehension of the eighth grade students of Mts Al-Khairiyah in academic year 2018/2019.
