Introduction: Nurses performance is still not optimal. The aim this study was to develop a quality of nursing work life to improve nurse performance by integrating Swanson's theory of caring. Methods: An explanative observational design was used with cross-sectional approach. The sample was nurses in inpatient care, intensive care, surgical installations, neonates, hemodialysis from eight hospitals in East Java. The sample size of 430 respondents used total sampling. The variables included QNWL, individual, social and environmental, administrative factors, nurse performance. Data were collected using Nurse Quality of Communication with Patient Questionnaire (NQCPQ), Questionnaire of Personal and Organizational Values Congruence for Employee (Q-POVC), Questionnaire of Brooks & Anderson's quality of nursing work life. The data analysis used Partial Least Square. Results: Twenty-five indicators were declared valid (outer loading value> 0.5) with variable diversity was 24.43%, so that internal, social and environmental, operational and administrative factors affect the performance of nurses directly or indirectly through caring based on QNWL. Predictive relevance value was >0, which indicates that the model was  good enough. The individual factors (p= 0.043; T-Statistics= 2.040), social and environment factors (p= 0.025; T= 2.242), administrative factors (p= 0.001; T= 3.438) have significant influence QNWL based on caring and QNWL based on caring had a significant influence on nurse performance (p= 0.000; T= 4.997). Conclusion: The development of the QNWL model based on caring has good effect in improving nurse performance. From the developed model, nurse performance related to individual factors, social and environmental factors, administrative factors.

Introduction: Intention to stay of nurses is important to reduce turnover rate and to improve the stability of hospital. Quality of nursing work life (QNWL) has been found to influence intention to stay. However, reliable information of this effect is limited. The purpose of this study was to develop the model of intention to stay for temporary nursing staff in RS UNAIR. Method: Anexplanative cross-sectional survey design was used in this study. Data were collected by using questionnaire among 32 nurses working at different units in this hospital through simple random sampling and analyzed by partial least square (PLS). Result: QNWL affected job satisfaction but did not affect commitment. Commitment was significantly affected by job satisfaction. There was effect of job satisfaction on intention to stay. Commitment also significantly affected intention to stay Discussion: QNWL is a predictor of intention to stay trough job satisfaction and commitment. It is recommended that more focused interventions on QNWL, job satisfaction, and commitment developments may improve intention to stay. Recruitment of non-nursing staff to carry out billing and administrative tasks is urgently needed. Suggestions for further research is to analyze the effect of empowerment, remuneration, and career ladder on nurses’ intention to stay. Keywords: intention to stay, quality of nursing work life, job satisfaction, commitment.

Selain itu, perlu adanya upaya peningkatan status kepegawaian perawat kontrak BLUD menjadi PNS atau minimal setara dengan PNS ABSTRACT National health insurance system in Indonesia has been operated since 2014 by the Social Insurance Administration Organization (BPJS). Practically, the provision of health services used tiered referral system, from the first-level health facilities (FasKes), such as Health Center. The result of preliminary studies showed that BPJS program may affect health care providers, including one that can affect the Quality of Nursing Work Life (QNWL) nurses at the health center of Bandung. In the end, QNWL affects the commitment and performance of nurses (Gray &Smelzer, 1990). This research aimed to describe QNWL and to find out demographic factors and its influence on QNWL.  The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive cross-sectional survey. This research was conducted in 2017 in 15 health centers in Bandung. The data were collected through questionnaire and analyzed using independent sample t Test and Anova. The results of this study showed (1) Nurses at the health center of Bandung were in a good category on both overall scores of QNWL and dimensions. However, there are three components which are still problematic, namely: a huge number of non-nursing tasks, inadequate tools and materials for patients’ care, inadequate nurses’ restrooms/locker rooms; (2) There is no significant effect of demographic factors, age (p=0.096), sex (p=0.776), marital status (p=0162), level of education (p=0.183), employment status (p=0.217), length of nursing experience (p=0.162)  to the Quality of Nursing Work Life (QNWL) nurses in 15 health centers in Bandung. The implications of this research are the need to improve problematic components and factors of QNWL. Moreover, improving the employment status of contract nurses BLUD to civil servants or at least equal to PNS is also needed

(1) Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread rapidly worldwide. Uniformed nurses have played a critical role during the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines; however, uptake of literature is limited. This study assessed the relationship between quality of nursing work life (QNWL) and nurses’ attitudes and practices during the COVID-19 pandemic. (2) Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional design was used. Participants were recruited from four government hospitals in the Manila metropolitan area of the Philippines. Participants completed three questionnaires in an online survey: a demographic questionnaire, a QNWL questionnaire, and the attitude and practices toward COVID-19 questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, an independent t-test, a one-way analysis of variance, the Pearson correlation coefficient, and hierarchical linear regression were applied for data analysis. (3) Results: The mean age of the participants was 29 years. Most of the participants were single women who were not certified in their specialties. A total of QNWL scores were high, indicating that the participants displayed favorable attitudes and practices in relation to COVID-19. A statistically significant relationship was observed between QNWL, specialty certification, and practices related to COVID-19. Practices related to COVID-19 were a significant predictor of QNWL and one of its subscales, work design. (4) Conclusion: Young adult uniformed nurses in the Philippines have assumed numerous responsibilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Providing these frontline nurses with comprehensive specialized education and training is crucial.
