This paper will present preliminary results from a research project comparing two methods for estimating the lifetime of LED products, LM-84 (6000 h test) and the new EU endurance test (3600h test) including on/off cycling, that will be required by EU from 2021. Beside the luminous flux development for the sources tested, their colorimetric results will also be examined as a function of time. Preliminary results for two series of LED products will be presented. For one series, the 3600h test have been completed, for the remaining series only results from the 6000h test is available. Results of the luminous flux and colour maintenance will be presented. Initial examinations shows good agreement between the two tests methods for the first series of LED products measured.

Abstract In this paper we present a selection of preliminary results of our research project “Intonation and Meaning”, in which we compare recurrent intonation contours in German and Italian regional varieties. We apply the method of German Interactional Prosody Research (Interaktionale Prosodieforschung), which in turn is based on Conversation Analysis, to a sample of selfcollected empirical data. Our aim is to show the value of intonation as a resource to contextualize speech activities and to point out form-function relationships between intonation patterns and speech act types. In this respect, we observe the usage of intonation contours with rising accent (L*H) and with falling accent (H*L) in the utterance of question activities, and provide evidence for the fact that the latter represent a distinctive type of questions with epistemic presupposition, whereas L*H correlates rather with default, modally unmarked questions.

Abstract The main purpose of this article is to present the results of research concerning the use of social media by companies from the SME sector in Podkarpackie Province. The article includes data obtained in the first stage of the study, which is a part of a research project on the use of social media in the area of creating the image of an organization / company as an employer. The survey covered the entire population of companies from the SME sector, which are registered in Podkarpackie Province (REGON database). The research phase, the results of which are presented in this article, mainly involved the analysis of data on companies from the SME sector in Podkarpackie Province in terms of their presence on the Internet (having an individual website, having company profiles on selected social networks). The results of the first stage of the study confirm that the companies see the potential of the online presence / functioning in social media (more and more companies have their own website, Facebook profiles). The dynamics of changes in this area is definitely not adequate to the pace of new media development. On the basis of preliminary results of further stages of the research, it can also be concluded that in the vast majority of cases, however, these are non-strategic and non-systematic activities.

SUMMARYThe preliminary results are presented of the conjunction of a duel effort: research on the international legal framework regarding development carried out in the framework of our research project registered in the Universidad Autónoma de Chiapas (UNACH), and our teaching practice in two subjects, positive law and ethno-development, taught in the latter half of 2008 to students in their 7th semester of studies in the undergraduate program on Indigenous Management and Self-Development. Conclusions presented are not definitive given that, as noted, they are derived from preliminary results.

The pandemic of SARS-COV-2 has significantly affected tourism, and many tourism companies have seen their revenue significantly reduced. Thus, the question arises: 'How resilient are tourism companies to the COVID-19 pandemic (1st wave) effects on their activity?' This chapter presents the preliminary results of a broader research project: RE.COV.ER. Based on a sample of 1,075 tourism companies operating in Portugal, this study describes the impact of the pandemic's first wave on tourism companies and explores their resilience. Results reveal a high level of impact of the pandemic on tourism companies. In terms of resilience, most companies' managers are perceived as proactive, and many companies implemented mitigation measures. Even though half of the companies could not find effective responses to the situation, there is, however, one small group of companies that seem to be more resilient, suggesting the need for more investigation on the reasons why.

This paper describes an activity aimed at analysing the loads occurring on a two-wheeler during one of the most widespread tests among two-wheeler companies. In this test, the vehicle with additional ballasts, is positioned on two rollers, having synchronized rotational speed, and is subjected to loads coming from obstacles positioned on the rollers' surface. In order to achieve an in-depth understanding of the loads produced by the test, a vehicle was provided with displacement transducers, accelerometers, and strain gauges. At the same time, two multi-body models of the test were set up, in which the motorscooter had a rigid frame or a flexible frame respectively. The dynamics of the tyre was reproduced by the rigid ring model, where the tyre interacts with the wheel rim by means of linear and rotational springs and dampers. The loads from the obstacles are evaluated on the basis of a series of experimental curves (envelope properties of the tyre) directly obtained with the tyres and obstacle employed for the tests. The comparison between experimental and numerical results regarding suspension strokes, wheel vertical accelerations, and vertical and longitudinal loads showed fairly good agreement; it is also shown how the model having the rigid frame overestimates the peaks in the vertical load. The availability of an accurate model for this kind of test in the early phase of the development process of new vehicles, allows the design of structural components to be optimized.

The site of Kharaib el-Desht on Failaka Island, Kuwait, was explored by an archaeological Kuwaiti–Polish team for the first time in 2013. The project included a survey and underwater archaeological research. Preliminary results indicate a dating of the site to the late Islamic period. Pottery collected from the survey of the site and from the excavations has been studied in a sepearate appendix to this report. As for the underwater and waterfront archaeology project, the main objective was to locate and describe seashore archaeological sites, provide documentary evidence and manage proper preservation of the discoveries in order to further educational opportunities.
