A device for the formation of a prosthetic plane of the upper jaw check-bite in the course of the prosthodontic treatment of the patients with completely absent dentition was developed in order to improve the formation of the prosthetic plane during complete removable laminar dentures manufacturing. The objective was achieved by the fact that the bite plate of the device was made in the form of U-shaped supporting ruler with a fork-like extension on both sides and with a pocket in the central part. The bite plates for the frontal and chewing parts of the upper jaw check-bite were inserted into the pocket. The bite plates were made removable, the frontal plate was T-shaped, and the chewing one was fork-like with rounded forks. The device was additionally equipped with a movable ruler to record strict parallel alignment in relation to the Camper and inter-pupillary lines. The supporting ruler was equipped with two vertical columns of square shape with symmetric millimeter scales, along which the vertical movements of the movable ruler were conducted and its parallel alignment was recorded in relation to the supporting ruler. The movable ruler was additionally equipped with a leveling device fixed in its central part to position the patient’s head relative to the horizon line. The use of bite plates for the frontal and chewing parts of the upper jaw check-bite and the provision of structural elements in the form of the supporting and movable rulers with the possibility of moving the movable ruler on the vertical columns of the supporting ruler provide a fast, comfortable, precise and uniform formation of the prosthetic plane of the upper jaw check-bite parallel to the Camper and inter-pupillary lines in the prosthodontic treatment of the patients with completely absent dentition.

In the research of vertical movements of the earth’s crust, examination of statistical correlations between the measured vertical movements of the earth’s crust and territorial geo-indexes is accomplished with the help of mathematical statistical analysis. Availability of the precise repeated levelling measuring data coupled with the preferred research methodology offer a chance to determine and predict recent vertical movements of the earth’s crust. For the inquiry into recent vertical movements of the earth’s crust, a Lithuanian class I vertical network levelling polygon was used. Drawing on measurements made in the polygon, vertical velocities of earth’s crust movements were calculated along the following levelling lines. For determining the relations shared by vertical movements of the earth’s crust and territorial geo-parameters, the following territory-defining parameters are accepted. Examination of the special qualities of relations shared by vertical movements of the earth’s crust and geo-parameters in the territory under research contributed to the computation of correlation matrices. Regression models are worked out taking into consideration only particular territory-defining geo-parameters, i.e. only those parameters which exhibit the following correlation coefficient value of the vertical earth’s crust movement velocity: r ≥ 0.50. A forecast of the velocities pertaining to vertical movements of the earth’s crust in the territory under examination was made with the application of regression models. Further in the process of this research, a map was compiled specifying the velocities of vertical movements of the earth’s crust in the territory. In the eastern part of this territory, the earth’s crust rises at a rate of up to 3 mm/year; while in the western part of it, the earth crust lowers at a rate of up to –1.5 mm/year. In order to pinpoint territories characterised by temperate and regular rising/lowering or intensive rising/lowering, a map of horizontal gradients of recent vertical earth crust movements in the territory enclosed by levelling polygon was compiled.

A sensitive and accurate method for the determination of phosphate, involving the application of the Evelyn photoelectric colorimeter to the ceruleomolybdate reaction, is described. This technique makes it possible to differentiate phosphate phosphorus from other forms of phosphorus.Conditions affecting the rate and extent of color development have been studied. The results show that the maximum color intensity is developed m about five minutes after addition of the reducing agent. The determination may be made in the presence of extraneous color, and soil organic matter does not interfere with the reaction. Under the conditions specified, using light filters, Beer's law applies to the reaction in soil extracts as well as in pure solutions in the range 0.02 to 0.40 parts per million of phosphorus.

An option for reducing material consumption in bent construction is flat plate replacement with a curved or saddle shaped plate (shell). This option applies to plywood sheet, provided that the curved or saddle shaped plates are made in widely used multilevel plywood presses with parallel shelves using layers with an appropriate physical properties, geometric dimensions and orientation, creating a structurally asymmetrical sheet, relative to mid‐surface. Improved currently used method for calculation of curvature with taking into account curvature interaction effect and elastic characteristic change in moisture changing process. Compared results obtained by improved method and finite element method. Using improved method calculated values of curvature for a sheet with different geometrical properties and moisture conditions. The sites of synthesis of the major thylakoid membrane polypeptides have been studied in the green alga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii by pulse labeling of cells with [14C]acetate in the presence of inhibitors specific for chloroplast and cytoplasmic protein synthesis. The labeled membrane polypeptides were separated by an improved method of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) gradient gel electrophoresis, and autoradiographs were made of the dried gels. The results demonstrate that of the 33 polypeptides resolved in the gels, at least nine are made on chloroplast ribosomes. Two of these (polypeptides 2 and 6) are associated with the reaction centers of photosystems I and II. Another polypeptide (polypeptide 5) appears from genetic data to be coded by chloroplast DNA. Experiments with a mutant whose chloroplast ribosomes are resistant to spectinomycyn (spr-u-1-6-2) show that polypeptides whose synthesis takes place on chloroplast ribosomes are made in the presence of spectinomycin in the mutant although their synthesis is blocked by this antibiotic in wild type cells.

In this article the authors present a monumental rafter framing of a baroque church in Nowy Kościół Lower-Silesia, Poland. The rafter framing was built in the 18th century and it was repaired in the middle of the 19th century by adding some new structural elements. The authors have analyzed the original construction and the reinforced construction from the 19th century and they found some large destruction of particular elements. In the presented example, the rafter framing required immediate renovation at the time, on account of its very bad technical state. This bad condition resulted from the damage of structural elements during ineffective attempts of repair, which were made in the middle of the 19th century, and due to a natural ageing process and the destruction of materials. The authors of article suggest renovation of the structural elements by adding in new supporting elements to strength them, which will force modification of reinforced elements work. The authors suggest renovation in such a form, that the monumental character of rafter framing would be preserved.

Any building must ensure safety conditions during the exploitation, at the level of designed exigencies, throughout the entire lifespan. The completion degree of the structural performance requirements, in the given exploitation conditions, results following the assessment of the technical state of the building. This paper presents a case study performed on an industrial “ground floor” type building, with the purpose to assess the exploitation safety level for the constituent structural elements and engineered consolidation measures. The structural reliability solutions have been designed in compliance with the execution possibilities limited by the existing of ventilation tubing , of big dimensions , made in France, of ,,polyester reinforced with glass fiber’’, which is situated along columns of axis A, at 30 cm approximate and the owner cannot to interrupt the technological process during the works.

The heterodimeric transcription factor hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) plays an important role in the progression of a number of processes in which O2 availability is compromised and, as such, has become an increasingly attractive therapeutic target. Although tremendous progress has been made in recent years in unraveling the mechanisms underlying O2-dependent regulation of HIF through its O2-dependent degradation domain and C-terminal transactivation domain, our understanding of the contributions of other structural elements, particularly the Per/ARNT/Sim (PAS)-A and PAS-B domains, to the activity of HIF is incomplete. Using insights derived from the recently determined solution structures of the HIF PAS-B domains as a starting point, we have explored the function(s) of the HIF-2α PAS domains via mutational analysis. In contrast to recent models, our data reveal that both PAS domains of the HIF-α subunit are necessary for heterodimer formation but are not required to mediate other HIF functions in which PAS domains have been implicated. Because disruption of individual PAS domains compromise HIF function independent of the mechanism of HIF induction, these data demonstrate the potential utility of targeting these domains for therapeutic applications.

In the last number of the Journal of Hygiene we described an improved method of calculating birth-rates, by means of which exact correction can be made, in comparing the birth-rates of two communities or of the same community at different periods, for variations in the proportion of married women at childbearing ages, and for the different fertility-rates at different ages of childbearing life. The value of this method consists in the fact that by its means true differences in childbearing can be discovered, the differences due to variations of age or marital condition being eliminated.

Abstract The paper presents an analysis of the causes and consequences of nonconformity that has been made in the welding of structural elements. The most frequent incompatibilities in this process were identified and RPN determined for them. The implementation of corrective and preventive actions in the identified critical areas was suggested based on the conducted analysis. After the implementation of corrective actions the re-calculation of the value of the RPN has been made. The paper presents the importance of visual inspection in the process of supervising finished products from the construction welding process. Elements of selected processes carried out in welded structures over two months were analyzed.

The paper raises the question of the inevitability not only of judicial (in specific criminal cases) errors, but also of law enforcement errors (the practice of incorrect application of the criminal law established spontaneously or at the direction of higher judicial authorities), as well as legislative errors of political, system or technical nature. Considering the specific law-making mistakes made in the norms of the General Part and in each of the structural elements of many of the norms of the Special Part of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the author notes the appreciable work of the legislator to eliminate errors with satisfaction. At the same time, the paper provides specific examples of errors that are repeatedly noted in the special literature, still yet to be corrected, and suggests ways to correct them, in particular, amending the Regulations of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation regarding the procedure for discussing bills.
