Diabetes mellitus type 2 [DMT2] is a disturbance of metabolism and complex diseases influenced by environmental, genetic agents, and linked with inflammation, happens when the pancreas either does not use the insulin as it should or the body does not make enough insulin, lead to insulin resistance [IR] alongside with gradual loss of ß-cell secretory ability. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of soluble L-selectin (sL-selectin) in diabetes mellitus type 2 patients in Iraqi Arabs patient. Study includes seventy six Iraqi Arabs patients (male and female) having newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), with Fifty three Iraqi Arabs healthy subjects matched in age, sex and ethnic group. Patients and healthy subjects were genotyped, by PCR-RFLP analysis, and mesure serum level of L-selectin by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (sandwich ELISA) test include 65 patients and 23 controls. The statistical analysis of serum level of sL-selectin in study groups showed that the mean of sL-selectin level high significantly increased in patients group (10.708±1.1007) compared to control group (7.055±0.767) respectively. Thus, our results suggest soluble L-selectin play a role in the development of DMT2 in Iraqi Arabs patients. Present results showed that genotype PS associated with increase the susceptibility of DMT2.

Abstract A keto diet is well-known for being a low carb diet in which the body produces ketones in the liver to be used as energy. When something high in carbs is eaten, the body will produce glucose and insulin. Glucose is the easiest molecule for the body to convert and use as energy, so it will be chosen over any other energy source. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of a ketogenic diet on type 2 diabetic patients and the effect it has on testosterone, vitamin D3, HDL, LDL levels, in comparison to non-ketogenic diet subjects. In the study, Type 2 diabetic patients undergoing a keto diet were selected and serum D3 levels and testosterone levels were examined and compared with control subjects. The result show a significant increase in testosterone hormone in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 following a Ketogenic diet (mean± Std. Error 427.4±2.52) as compared with the control group (mean ± Std. Error 422.2±0.24) and as compared with patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 who are not following a Ketogenic diet (mean± Std. Error 151.4±1.41). The results show no significant level in LDL level in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 following a Ketogenic diet (mean ± Std. Error 78.53±0.17), as compared to a control group (mean ± Std. Error 75.0.3±0.14) and no significant level in HDL level in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 following a Ketogenic diet (mean± Std. Error 46.3±1.55), as compared with a control group (mean ± Std. Error 46.2±2.43), and with patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 who are not following a Ketogenic diet (mean ± Std. Error 45.1±1.55). The results show a significant increase in vitamin D3 level in patient with diabetes mellitus type 2 who are following a Ketogenic diet (mean ± Std. Error 53.5±0.32), as compared with a control group (mean± Std. Error 57±0.24), and with patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 who are not following a Ketogenic diet (mean ± Std. Error 25.1±1.55). Herein, normal vitamin D3 levels in patients corresponds to normal testosterone hormone levels. In conclusion, this study shows that in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2, following a ketogenic diet has a positive effect on the patients’ health.

Objects: The study's purpose was to see if there was a link between netrin.1 and type II diabetes patients. Methodology: The present study carried out on (45) patients affected with diabetes mellitus from (120) persons were examined in the education of Diwaniyah hospital from 6th September to the 4th December 2020. The study includes measurement of the body mass index, fasting blood glucose level, HbA1c, lipid profile and level of netrin-1. Results: Our findings were revealed the netrin-1 level was significantly lower in the diabetes (1205.36±753.09) compared to control group (1477.79±700.26; P < 0.01). Our observations were appeared Significantly higher levels of blood cholesterol, TG, LDL, and VLDL-C and In diabetes individuals, there was a significant drop There was a 0.05 difference in HDL-C levels when compared to healthy controls. Conclusion: These findings indicate that low netrin1 concentration in serum are strongly linked to the occurrence of type II diabetes.

We present the fourth case of an adult man (29 yr old) affected by aromatase deficiency resulting from a novel homozygous inactivating mutation of the CYP19 (P450arom) gene. At first observation, continuing linear growth, eunuchoid body proportions, diffuse bone pain, and bilateral cryptorchidism were observed. The patient presented also a complex dysmetabolic syndrome characterized by insulin resistance, diabetes mellitus type 2, acanthosis nigricans, liver steatohepatitis, and signs of precocious atherogenesis. The analysis of the effects induced by the successive treatment with high doses of testosterone, alendronate, and estradiol allows further insight into the roles of androgens and estrogens on several metabolic functions. High doses of testosterone treatment resulted in a severe imbalance in the estradiol to testosterone ratio together with the occurrence of insulin resistance and diabetes mellitus type 2. Estrogen treatment resulted in an improvement of acanthosis nigricans, insulin resistance, and liver steatohepatitis, coupled with a better glycemic control and the disappearance of two carotid plaques. Furthermore, the study confirms previous data concerning the key role of estrogens on male bone maturation, at least in part, and regulation of gonadotropin secretion. The biopsy of the testis showed a pattern of total germ cell depletion that might be due to the concomitant presence of bilateral cryptorchidism. Thus, a possible role of estrogen in male reproductive function is suggested but without revealing a direct cause-effect relationship. Data from this case provide new insights into the role of estrogens in glucose, lipid, and liver metabolism in men. This new case of aromatase deficiency confirms previous data on bone maturation and mineralization, and it reveals a high risk for the precocious development of cardiovascular disease in young aromatase-deficient men.

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder which marked by the hyperglycemia that appeared because of insulin secretion disorder and/or the increase of cellular insulin resistance. DM patients have a higher risk to experience foot problems due to blood vessels disorders causing the circulation of blood from legs is decreased. Purposed this research is diabetes could be prevented by doing a foot spa diabetic which the activities include foot exercises, warm water cleansing and massage. The method used in this study is Quays Experiment pre-post control group design. The population on this study was patients with Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 in Waru health center. The sample used was 60 people, divided into 2 groups; intervention and control group, with sampling technique of simple random sampling. The data collection was using observation sheets of diabetic foot SPA; the tool used to assess blood glucose levels was glucometer, whereas cotton, brush and needle were used to assess the foot sensitivity. The data was then analyzed with t-test. The result of the study showed that there were effecton the foot sensitivity (t=10,73, p value =0, 000) and there were effectdecrese on ankle brachial index(t=12,34, p value =0, 000). It is important for families and communities to give motivation to the diabetes mellitus patients to do diabetic foot SPA as one of alternative therapies to prevent foot complications such as foot ulcers and even amputation

Background. As it is established that diabetes mellitus causes metabolic disturbances of all types (first of all because of carbohydrate metabolism), affection of blood vessels, nerves, different organs and tissues. However, the influence of DM on the level of microelements is still not investigated enough. Despite the sufficient variety of medicaments, compensation of diabetes mellitus is achieved in less than 30% of patients. For this reason, the search of new ways of treatment which are aimed at the improvement of carbohydrate metabolism is an urgent issue.Objective. The research was aimed to reveal the deficiency of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 [25(OH)D3] and its correlation with carbohydrate metabolism.Materials and methods. Thirty five patients with diabetes mellitus Type 2 aged 55-74 with illness duration 2-4 years were examined. The control group included 35 healthy people of the same age and sex. Levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 [25(OH)D3] were tested by means of radioimmunoassay. The level of glycated haemoglobin was tested by means of liquid chromatography.Results. Correlation of the level of vitamin D with the degree of diabetes mellitus Type 2 compensation has been detected.Conclusions. A clear tendency to the improvement of diabetes mellitus Type 2 compensation after medication correction with vitamin D was evidenced.
