This research examines the interrelation of knowledge generation (KG) and knowledge sharing (KC) and how they influence IT infrastructure (ITI) and strategic decision support systems (SDSS) to enhance business process performance (BPP) and firm performance (FP). Furthermore, the objective of this study is to emphasise the importance of applying information systems strategies (ISS) such as knowledge capture and utilisation to make better firm processes to boost firm performance in knowledge management process-intensive organisations. The study surveyed 261 Brazilian companies and used partial least squares path modelling to test the hypotheses proposed herein. The research findings showed that KG and KC influence ITI. Additionally, it also showed that ITI has full mediation in its relationship with KG and SDSS and partial mediation in its relationship with KC on the SDSS. Finally, BPP demonstrated full mediation in its relationship with SDSS and FP. The research findings contribute to firms understand how BPP and FP are affected through ISS embedded into knowledge and utilisation coupled with knowledge generation and sharing.

Knowledge generation for Project Management (PM) is a critical modern issue. Projects are a complex, inter-related set of tasks that aim to provide a service or product in a controlled, managed way. In these scenarios, there is a continuous producing of data and information, which is a potential situation for Knowledge Management (KM) interaction. This chapter evaluates aspects and factors on how it is possible to process data and information, in order to generate applicable knowledge to improve project management. A specific consideration is to understand the observation of contexts of huge amounts of data—known nowadays as Big Data—and its potential knowledge generation for project management, as presented in the final study case. A better comprehension on how knowledge management practices, applied to Big Data contexts, can improve project management processes is the main objective in this chapter.

The study aimed to identify the degree of applying processes of knowledge management at colleges of educational sciences in private Jordanian universities in the Capital Governorate from the perspective of faculty members, and the effect of gender, academic rank and experience variables on the degree of application. To achieve this, the analytical descriptive survey method was used, and a questionnaire was developed and included (25) items, covering three dimensions: knowledge generation, knowledge storage, knowledge transfer, and knowledge application. The questionnaire was distributed to as ample of (77) faculty members in the college of educational sciences in private universities in the capital governorate (Al-Zaytouna, the Middle East, Al-Isra and Petra) during the academic year 2018/2019. The results showed that the degree of application of knowledge management processes by colleges in the field of knowledge generation and knowledge transfer were medium (2.07) and (1.91), while the degree of application in the two fields of knowledge application and knowledge generation was low with means of (1.64) and (1.40). Results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences at (α<0.05) on all domains of knowledge management attributed to the variable of sex. There were statistically significant differences at (α<05.0) for the domains of knowledge management processes, all attributable to the variable of academic rank. However, there were no statistically significant differences at (α<05.0) in the degree of applying knowledge management processes among faculty members attributed to the variable of experience in all majors. It can be concluded that the degree of applying knowledge management processes at Colleges of Educational Sciences in private Jordanian universities in the Capital Governorate varied between medium and low. Therefore, the study recommended that knowledge management processes be adopted by Jordanian private universities in the Capital Governorate.
