The Patterns of Islamic Education Development during the Era of Bani Umayah: Education Institution and Curriculum, and Teachers

This article aims to discuss the Islamic education during the Bani Ummayyah era. The history of Islamic Education is essentially related to the religion history. The periodization of Islamic education is always on the period of the history itself. The Islamic Education in the Prophet Muhammad SAW era is the period of Islamic education development by civilizing the education in daily lives as the Al-Qur’an teaching. The education during the period of Bani Umayyah has developed of if it is seen from their learning aspect, although the system is similar to it during the era of Prophet and khulafaur rasyidin. The method utilized in this research is Study of Literature, which is done by analyzing library sources in forms of relevant books and journals. The result indicates 1) the pattern of special education development such as Arabic nuances, Islamic foundation affirmation, naqliyah knowledge and language development, foreign language teaching, and kuttab and mosque strengthening; 2) development of the most stand out education field is in the institutions; 3) non-formal curriculum is used; and 4) there are many teacher figures and scholars who are capable in the scientific field.

On the basis of archival documents, the article traces the history of public organization «Union of Russian Students in Egypt», established in 1920 among the Russian emigrant community. After the Revolution of 1917, there was a mass departure of Russian refugees from the country. Among the refugees were also the students of Russian universities. By the turn of fate, some of them arrived in Egypt, a country that had a rich tradition of Islamic education, but not the European one. Russian emigrants had to unite in special societies and unions, so that they could together resist the hardships and destitution they experienced. Russian students also decided to create their own organization. Its purpose was to provide the members with the opportunity to continue their education, as well as to off er them fi nancial assistance when it was possible. However, the organization was faced with many social and fi nancial problems. The association took the initiative to fi nd work for students, and to organize foreign language courses. In addition, they organized the cultural life and activities of students as much as possible. Due to the eff orts of the initiative group, a library was created, a hostel was organized, and a canteen was put into function, while students participated in theatrical productions and musical evenings. This article reveals the motives to establish the “Union of Russian Students in Egypt”, follows its activities, and its attempts to save Russian cultural and educational traditions in emigration. The article also traces the reasons for the split of this public organization and, as a result, the end of its activities in 1922.The author declares that there is no conflict of interest.

Like any private didactics the methodology of teaching foreign languages, has its own history, knowledge of which is necessary for understanding the main stages of development of the theory and practice of teaching, the variety of approaches and methods of teaching foreign languages in the modern world. This study aims to research the history of creating curricula, programs and textbooks on foreign language for universities of Kazakhstan. The research conducted a  Historical and pedagogical analysis which showed that foreign language teaching has its roots in the deep past, and played a huge role in the development of human society, since it determined the progress of the transferring the methodological experience and contributed to the social development of mankind.   The role of Islamic education is a very strong foundation and becomes a reference of developing students’ character to face the Industrial Revolution 4.0 Era, and Islam is a source of truth and strength that can deliver ways on daily lives to achieve human character formation. Therefore, Islamic education is an important part of preparing the quality students. In other words, Islamic Education has a major contribution in the process of building students who have good character, have the ability to compete in the industrial revolution 4.0 era, have the ability to use global technology, and have the ability to adapt to the rapid development of technology. Islamic education is also expected to facilitate students to study hard consistently in order to face this era and students are expected to master sophisticated global technology without limits.    This study aims to describe and analyze the role of Islamic Education in building students’ character in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era. To achieve the purposes of the study, this study used a qualitative method with a qualitative-naturalistic approach. Various data collection techniques used in this study are observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results shows that the role of Islamic Education in building students' character was carried out through the following activities; 1) Intra-curricular activities: in this activity, the teacher inserts characters in the teaching and learning process of all subjects namely Qu'ran hadith, Fiqh, History of Islamic Culture, Arabic, and Aqeedah Akhlak. The teacher connects directly with material of akhlaq or character 2) Extra-curricular activities include: Tilawatil Qur'an (reading the Qur'an) using digital literacy methods, Tahfidzul Qur'an (memorizing the Qur'an), Qitobha, Hadroh (Islamic Music) and Calligraphy. Through these two types of activities built several characters: religious, honest, fond of reading, responsible, independent, appreciating achievements, caring socially and hard work. By having the character, the students are ready to face the industrial era 4.0.

<p><em>Pancasila has become the ideology of the Indonesian nation, including the Islamic Foundation which is often juxtaposed with a non-Pancasila stigma that demands a caliphate state and abandons the values of Pancasila. Islamic foundations have always been a sentiment in Indonesian society today, so it is necessary to further ascertain the teachings conveyed by the Islamic Foundation, more specifically from the perspective of education. This study aims to see the existence of Pancasila in the social interactions of the Islamic Education Foundation, especially in SMA Al-Islam 1 Surakarta. The method in this study uses a qualitative paradigm through an interview approach and participatory observation. The results of this study indicate that there is a special study for teachers and employees at SMA Al-Islam 1 Surakarta using the book Al-Imamah by Kiyai Haji Imam Ghazali. This book is a summary of K. H Imam Ghazali's intellectual activities in the journey and history of struggle to build Al-Islam college as outlined through his writings and analysis of the holy verses of the Koran and Hadith as the founding principles of the Al-Islam Foundation itself. There is an implicit emphasis on the values of Pancasila contained in the book of Al-Imamah and it is conveyed periodically with a frequency of once a week. This study is expected to provide provisions and instill the values of religiosity and personality in acting and behaving</em>.</p>
