As a media learning platform, the “Learning Power” platform integrates the advantages of the internet, big data, and new media. Through the supply of massive explicit and implicit learning resources as well as the construction of the interactive space of “Learning Power,” it fully embodies the education mechanism of moral education. Specifically, it is reflected in the distinctive political position and the education goal mechanism of “moral education,” the education operation mechanism of “explicit and implicit unity,” the learning mechanism of “autonomy and cooperation integration,” and the feedback incentive mechanism of “gamification.” The organic combination and interactive operation of these four mechanisms form a collaborative education mechanism system of goal orientation, education operation, learning process, and feedback incentive.

This paper presents an emergent co-creative methodology for the conception, making and sharing of narrative artwork for a gamified learning platform. Drawing on cinema, the graphic novel, and comic book art, two unusual characters were developed by Student Activators working with researchers at the Disruptive Media Learning Lab, Coventry University. The creative process began by using Clean Language and Clean Space to bring the artists’ character sketches to life, and developed into a series of basic, linear and interactive narratives with original working practices. Extending this collaboration, the paper is co-authored with the two students involved. The authors reflect from their different perspectives on the Collaborative process, creation of narrative artwork and building of a series of metagames for the BEACONING platform ‘Breaking Educational Barriers with Contextualised Pervasive and Gameful Learning’, co-funded by Horizon 2020 programme of the European Union.

A cloud-based teaching and learning platform, LectureTools, was piloted at City University of Hong Kong in the 2012-13 academic year. LectureTools is an online platform that provides a suite of cloud-based teaching and learning applications. It combines the functions of interactive presentation, real-time student response system, student inquiry and online note-taking synchronised with the presentation slides, into one cloud-based platform. A comprehensive study investigated the effectiveness of the platform for enhancing student motivation among graduate (n=158) and undergraduate (n=96) students. Both groups of students reported enhanced motivation when using LectureTools. The scores on all six learning motivation scales of the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire, a psychometric instrument based on the cognitive view of motivation, increased when students engaged with the tool in class. Those who used the tool scored significantly higher on intrinsic goal orientation than those who did not use the tool. The students’ quantitative feedback showed that they found the tool useful and that it improved their motivation. Qualitative feedback from the instructors indicated that the tool was useful for engaging passive students. They reported that the most useful function was the interactive online questions with real-time results, while the in-class student inquiry function was difficult to use in practice.

“My Motherland and Me”, a passionate patriotic song, can stand out from many patriotic themes after more than 30 years of writing, and with the help of “Flash Mob”, a new type of artistic expression, the theoretical self-confidence, road self-confidence, system self-confidence, and cultural self-confidence of socialism with Chinese characteristics over the past 40 years of reform and opening up were passed. It conveys the endless patriotism and nationalism of the Chinese nation, and conveys the strong historical blame of the rise and fall of the world, showing the powerful aesthetic and moral education functions of musical works. Teachers can use “My Motherland and Me” as a teaching case for the collaborative education of moral education and aesthetic education, and from here and there, promote the teaching experience of moral education.

Abstract Background: Previous studies indicate professional identity formation (PIF), or formation of self-identity with internalized values and norms of professionalism, might influence self-regulated learning (SRL). However, it remains unclear whether or not PIF-oriented education can improve SRL in medical students. Methods: Rural community-based clinical clerkships (rCBCC) for Year 5 (Y5) students in Jichi Medical University (JMU) provide a learning environment where undergraduates will work in future with alumni directly mentoring them. To make rCBCC more PIF-oriented, we created a learning platform using Google Forms and a PIF-oriented teaching manual for mentors. These were designed to help undergraduates articulate future ‘self’ images as professionals, and have in-depth communication with mentors as role models pertaining to medical professionalism. Forty-one Y5 JMU students experienced PIF-oriented rCBCC, while 41 Y5 control subjects experienced the original format rCBCC. Changes in SRL between the two groups were compared using 15 categories of motivated strategies for learning questionnaire (MSLQ). We also explored how the PIF-oriented rCBCC changed their SRL by thematic analysis of questionnaire and interview data. Results: A moderate improvement of intrinsic goal orientation (p = 0.005, ε2 = 0.096) and a mild improvement of critical thinking (p = 0.041, ε2 = 0.051) were observed in the PIF-oriented rCBCC. Qualitative analysis revealed they started viewing ‘professional responsibility’ as self-study motivator. Awareness of ‘responsibility’ led to pursuit of authenticity and medical knowledge applicability, and fostered critical thinking about learning contents. They also began elaborating learning contents in line with processes. Conclusion: This is the first study showing some effects of PIF-oriented education on SRL improvement. Fostering PIF may be important for stimulating learners’ intrinsic SRL behaviors.

Education is a place to introduce culture and micro, small and medium enterprises in areas far from the capital. In Technology Education Study Program, Universitas Negeri Jakarta has the vision to produce educators and education personnel in the field of learning to engineer based on academic principles and ethics. Engineering new media learning through augmented reality becomes a tool for lectures introducing SMEs. For this reason, researchers collaborated with material expert lecturers,  design experts,  media experts, and 30 students in developing augmented reality as a new learning application. The results of the review obtained from the instructional design experts were 3.20, material expert 3,30, and media experts 3.14. Based on the test results obtained from students in the one-to-one stage of 3.55; and at the small group stage of 3.23. Based on the results of the evaluation, it can be concluded that Augmented Reality can be implemented and used to introduce SMEs to college students. Students can use this product as material strengthening in engineering learning using new media applications
