A spatial spillover correlation network is an excellent representation for expressing the relationship of consumption levels among regions, which provides a way to study the evolution mechanism of the spatial influence of the consumption level. Using data on the consumption levels of 29 provinces (or municipalities or autonomous regions) during the global stage (1978–2020) and two separated stages (1978–2001 and 2002–2020) after China’s reform and opening up, this paper analyzes the topological characteristics and driving factors of provincial residents’ consumption level spatial spillover network by applying the Granger causality test of Vector Autoregression (VAR) model and a complex network analysis method. The results show that the number of spatial spillover relationships of provincial residents’ consumption level in the second stage increases significantly in comparison with that in the first stage and the scope of mutual influence among provinces increases rapidly in the second stage; that eastern coastal regions play a net spillover role in the network and some central and western provinces play an increasingly important broker role; and that the members of the network compose four communities with different gradients, with Beijing, Shanghai, and Jiangsu in the leading positions. The network shows neighborhood spillover and club convergence, and these characteristics are more evident in the second stage; moreover, spatial adjacency, residents’ disposable income, urbanization level, consumer credit, and consumption environment similarity have significant driving effects on the spillover correlation of the consumption level.

With the acquisition of sustainable development, pursuing the coordinated development of social economy and ecological environment has been a critical approach of Northeastern China. Since the reform and opening-up, marketization has profoundly affected the regional social economy. However, what role will marketization play in regional sustainable development? Can marketization improve sustainable development measured by the coupling coordination degree? This paper adopts the coupling coordination degree model (CCDM) to estimate the coupling coordination degree and further explore the impact of marketization on the coupling coordination degree in Northeastern China from 1994 to 2019. The results show that the average values of the static coupling degree (SCD), dynamic coupling degree (DCD), and coupling coordination degree (CCD) remained in a tiny coordinated state, which indicated that the level of sustainable development in Northeastern China is presented still primary from 1990 to 2019. Marketization has a significant negative impact on the coupling coordination degree, which indicates that marketization should be considered in the process of sustainable development in Northeastern China.

Entrepreneurship is a key concept to understand the rapid development of China’s economy since the reform and opening-up. It is related to the revitalization of the Chinese nation. Formulating effective entrepreneurial policies and measures, carrying out entrepreneurship education, and promoting entrepreneurial actions are important issues that government agencies, educational institutions, and the society at all levels are paying attention to. The key lies in the insight into the psychological cognitive mechanism and motivation source of entrepreneurs in starting a business. Upon reviewing previous studies, this article believes that entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intentions are the key concepts and entry points connecting entrepreneurial characteristics, entrepreneurial behavior, and cognitive research. This study explores the relationship between entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention from five dimensions: entrepreneurial planning efficacy, entrepreneurial resource acquisition, relationship coordination efficacy, risk-taking efficacy, as well as innovation and reform efficacy. Suggestions and strategies have been proposed in this article to integrate the entrepreneurial ecology of universities, society and the government, reform the entrepreneurial education model, as well as improve the entrepreneurial willingness of college students.

Basic research is believed to be a crucial factor for building national innovation capacity and therefore was perceived as a key battleground for national technological and economic competition. Since the economic reform and opening up in the late 1970s, China has made great achievements in building up its national research system. However, the lacking capabilities to conduct ground-breaking scientific work remain one of the daunting challenges for the country. How to restructure its funding system for basic research so to reinvigorate its indigenous innovation capacity has been one of the main concerns for the Chinese government in recent years. To address this, the paper proposes a conceptual framework to analyze how China’s central government funding system for basic research has evolved since 1985. The paper concludes with a discussion of the identified problems and challenges that China is facing in its current funding system for basic research.

On most occasions, economic development is embodied with periodic characteristics. Comprehensive understanding of the economic cycle is of great significance to guiding the formulation of macroeconomic policies and maintaining stable economic growth. Since the reform and opening up, Tengzhou's economy has maintained a momentum of rapid growth, which, however, is characterized by obvious periodic fluctuations. This paper makes an in-depth analysis of the characteristics and causes of economic periodic fluctuation in Tengzhou, in order to have a comprehensive understanding of the economic cycle, and the economic law is adopted to take corresponding economic growth measures in different periods of economic development, thus achieving high-quality economic development. In this paper, the study of county economic cycle is not subject to economic theory, rather the study is conducted with a large number of historical background and local economic development characteristics. The economy of Tengzhou City, since the reform and opening up, is divided into five cycles. The conclusion is drawn that the county economic cycle is affected by macroeconomic fluctuations, industrial structure adjustment, investment and consumption fluctuations and other factors. We put forward targeted suggestions on using the economic cycle to promote high-quality economic development.

Eliminating poverty, improving people's livelihood, and gradually achieving common prosperity are the essential requirements of socialism. After more than 40 years of reform and opening up policy, China has embarked on a path of poverty alleviation with Chinese characteristics. In precise poverty alleviation, cadres in villages have become an important force to tackle the problem, and contact channels. Through studying the actual situation of the implementation of the basic strategy of the Party Central Committee’s precise poverty alleviation in the concentrated and contiguous areas of Yanshan-Taihang Mountain, it is truly reflected in the successful examples of grassroots forces winning the battle against poverty under the strong leadership of party committees and governments at all levels. Finally, the research demonstrates the new era style of the vast number of poverty alleviation cadres stationed in the village taking up the role, dedicating to the grassroots, and making sacrifices on the battlefield of poverty alleviation.

The Covid-19 pneumonia epidemic has broken out and spread in more than 215 countries, with more than 7 million confirmed cases worldwide, which will definitely have a huge negative impact on the global economy, and it has also given birth to populism and trade protectionism in some countries such as the United States. In particular, the trade friction between China and the United States has not been completely resolved, and the direction of the trade relationship has become an important issue in the post-epidemic era. Using retrospective research methods, dynamic analysis methods, and path analysis methods, we discovered the uncertainties in Sino-US trade relations under the epidemic. In the post-epidemic era, Sino-US trade relations will show long-term trade disputes, accompanied by complex politicization and normalization of talks while fighting. However, Sino-US trade is highly interdependent and cannot be divided. Therefore, China upholds to jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind, comprehensively deepens reform and opening up, adheres to dialogue and consultation, stabilizes the ballast of economic and trade relations, crosses the "Thucydides trap", and implements the strategy of expanding domestic demand to take the lead in restoring the economy during the epidemic. Responding to the trade war provoked by the United States against China also provides reference for in-depth research on trade-related theories.
