Action research atau penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) merupakan upaya para pendidik yang reflektif untuk meningkatkan kualitas pengajarannya sehingga hasil pembelajaran siswa juga semakin baik. Pada awal perkembangannya di Amerika Serikat di awal abad 20, PTK menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Namun seiring berjalannya waktu, masalah di bidang pendidikan dan pengajaran juga semakin kompleks sehingga beberapa pendidik mulai menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Makalah ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan PTK dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif, disertai dengan contoh-contoh PTK di bidang pengajaran Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing untuk memperkuat alasan penggunaan masing-masing pendekatan tersebut. Pendekatan apa pun yang digunakan—kualitatif atau kuantitatif—bukan menjadi masalah dan masih dapat disebut sebagai PTK, asalkan tujuan penelitian tersebut dapat dicapai, yaitu peningkatan kualitas pengajaran.

The aim this research is to describe the improvement of students’ learning result in the civic subject by using the STAD Model for 5th grade students. The subjects of this research were the researcher herself and 20 students. This classroom action research used qualitative and quantitative approaches. The result shows that in planning phases there is improvement from 76.12 in cycle I to 93.5 in cycle II. Teachers’ aspect improves from 68.74 in cycle I 91.66 in cycle II. Students’ aspect improves from 68.74 in cycle to 91.66 in cycle II. Furthermore, the improvement also can be seen from students’ learning result that improves from 76.12 in cycle I to 93.5 in cycle II. Thus, it can be concluded that the implementation of the STAD Model can improve students’ learning result.

The research is aimed to describe the students’ learning outcomes in the Civics Subjects by using the Mind Mapping Model at 5th grade of SDN 19 Sungaitanang. The classroom-action research is conducted in the research by using both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The subjects of the research were the teacher and 22 students of the school. This research was conducted in two cycles where each cycle consists of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The result of the research shows that: a) the lesson plan increased from 73.21% (adequate) in cycle I to 92.85% (very good) in cycle II, b) in term of the teacher’s teaching aspect increased from 74.99% (adequate) in cycle I to 94.44% (very good) in cycle II; meanwhile, in the students’ learning aspect increased from 73.60% (adequate) in cycle I to 91.66% (very good) in cycle II, c) the students’ learning outcomes increased from 75.28 (adequate) in cycle I to 88.38 (very good) in cycle II. Thus, the use of Mind Mapping model has improved the students’ learning outcomes in learning the Civics Subjects at 5th Grade of SDN 19 Sungaitanang.

Penelitian ini membahas tentang keterampilan teknik kolase yang masih rendah karena guru belum mampu memperagakan langkah-langkah dalam membuat keterampilan kolase secara efisien. Dalam praktiknya, guru hanya fokus pada penilaian akhir dari karya tersebut tanpa memerhatikan penilaian proses, padahal penilaian proses dapat digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan keterampilan teknik kolase dengan menggunakan bahan dasar limbah pada metode pembelajaran yang belum bervariasi. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memperbaiki atau meningkatkan keterampilan membuat kolase dengan menggunakan bahan dasar limbah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa membuat kolase dengan menggunakan bahan dasar limbah dapat meningkatkan keterampilan siswa mulai dari 59,7% menjadi 70,3%. Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa siswa dapat menempel bahan limbah dengan terampil sementara guru hanya berperan sebagai fasilitator atau motivator di kelas. Kata kunci: Teknik Kolase, Bahan Limbah.  IMPROVING SKILLS OF COLLAGE TECHNIQUE BY USING WASTE MATERIALSIN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL NO. 04 BIRUGO BUKITTINGGI AbstractThis study discusses about the skill of collage techniques which is still low because the teacher has not been able to demonstrate the steps of making collage efficiently. Practically, the teacher just focuses on the result of the artwork without engaging the assessment of its process, whereas it is useful to describe the skills of collage technique by using waste materials in the model of unvaried learning.This study is a Classroom Action Research using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The purpose of this study is to repair or improve the skills of making collage by using waste materials. The results show that making collage by using waste materials can improve students’ skills from 59,7% to 70,3% at the end. From that It can be concluded that the students can adhere the waste materials skillfully and the teacher just plays role as a facilitator or motivator in the class Keywords: Collage Technique, Waste Materials.

This research was conducted as the student’s skill in writing descriptive texts in the second grade of SDN 07 Teladan Kota Bukittinggi was still low is because teacher lack an understanding of the step to write a good descriptive. Therefore, this research was intended to describe the improvement of the student’s skill in writing descriptive texts by using Direct Writing Activity strategy in the second grade of SDN 07 Teladan Kota Bukittinggi. This was a classroom action research which used qualitative and quantitative approaches. The subject of research was the practitioner teacher and 32 students in the second grade of SDN 07 Teladan Kota Bukittinggi. The result of the research indicated that the student’s skill in writing descriptive texts improved from 74,48% (adequtae) in the first cycle into 82,94% (good) in the second cycle. It can be concluded, that Direct Writing Activity strategy could improve the student’s skill in writing descriptive text in the second grade of Primary School.Keywords : Writing Skill, Descriptive Texts, Direct Writing Activity strategy

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to find out how the application of cheerful weaving activities to improve children's fine motor skills and describe whether through cheerful weaving activities can improve children's fine motor skills. This study uses a classroom action research (CAR) design with qualitative and quantitative approaches. This classroom action research is conducted in two cycles, each cycle of which there are two meetings consisting of planning, implementing, observing, and selecting. The subjects of this study were group B TK PGRI 03 overlapping with 16 children. This research was successful because it showed an increase in the repetition and incorporation of weaving material so that it was easily carried out by teachers and children. The increase can be seen from the pre-action to the second cycle in fine motor skills eye and hand coordination aspects of 62.50 percent, the accuracy aspect is 62.50 percent, and the flexibility is 68.75 percent. Based on the presentation of the results of the implementation of cheerful weaving activities that children's fine motor skills proved to be increasing. Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan kegiatan menganyam ceria untuk meningkatkan keterampilan motorik halus anak, dan mendeskripsikan apakah melalui kegiatan menganyam ceria dapat meningkatkan keterampilan motorik halus anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini dilakukan selama dua siklus, tiap siklusnya terdapat dua kali pertemuan yang terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan rfeleksi. Subyek dari penelitian ini adalah kelompok B TK PGRI 03 Tumpang dengan jumlah 16 anak. Penelitian ini berhasil karena menunjukkan adanya peningkatan dengan adanya pengulangan dan penggabungan bahan menganyam agar mudah dilakukan oleh guru dan anak-anak. Peningkatan dapat dilihat dari pra tindakan sampai siklus II dalam keterampilan motorik halusnya aspek koordinasi mata dan tangan sebesar 62,50 persen, aspek ketepatan sebesar 62,50 persen, dan kelentukan sebesar 68,75 persen. Berdasarkan pemaparan hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan menganyam ceria bahwa keterampilan motorik halus anak terbukti meningkat.

This study aims to determine the improvement of integrated thematic learning outcomes using the CRH Cooperative Learning model.  This research is a classroom action research that uses qualitative and quantitative approaches.  The subjects used in this study consisted of teachers and 32 students.  This research was conducted  2 cycles.  Cycle I was held for 2 meetings and cycle II was held for 1 meeting, with four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection.  The results of this study are : the percentage  observations of RPP in the first cycle, 78 % increased in the second cycle, 95 % . The result of observation of teacher aspect in cycle 1,78,75% increased in cycle II, 92,5%.  The results of the observations of students in the first cycle, 81.25 % increased in the second cycle, 92.5%.  Student learning outcomes in the first cycle, 67,18% (C) increased in the second cycle 92,4% (SB).

This study concerns on improving students’ achievement in writing procedure texts through word webbing technique. The research was conducted by using Classroom Action Research (CAR). The population was the 2012-2013 nine grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Batang Kuis. The number of students was 36, consisting of 21 females and 15 males. The procedure of the research was administrated into two cycles where each cycle consisted of three meetings. Each meeting included four steps namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. There were two kinds of data collected during the study, qualitative and quantitative data. The instrument for collecting the quantitative data was the writing of procedure texts test while the qualitative data were gathered by using interview, diary notes and observation sheet. Based on the data analysis, the mean of students’ score in Test I was 53,47, for the Test II was 63,05, and for the Test III was 75 The qualitative data showed that the students were interested in the applying of Word webbing Technique. The conclusion is that Word Webbing Technique in writing Procedure Texts improves the students’ achievement in writing procedure texts.
