In Indonesia, one of the common problems encountered by many English teachers during the process of teaching and learning in the classroom is students’ unwillingness to communicate using English. Having learners who are willing to communicate using English in class is essential in a language classroom that following the communicative approach (Riasati, 2012). This study aims to investigate students’ perceptions towards willingness to communicate using English in the classroom. It employs a quantitative approach, survey research design. To know the students’ willingness to communicate using English, a well-known FLCAS (Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale) developed by Horwitz, E.K., Horwitz, and M. B., Cope J. (1986) was adapted. 115 students of SMK Negeri 10 Malang participated as the respondents. Based on the findings, it is concluded that tenth and eleventh grade students at SMK Negeri 10 Malang have a positive opinion towards willingness to communicate using English in the classroom. They stated that learning and communicating using English is essential and beneficial. However, their willingness to communicate using English itself is quite low and it is quite a serious problem.

Artikel ini mendeskripsikan deiksis waktu dan deiksis ruang dalam Transkripte der Hörtexte buku ajar Netzwerk B1. Dalam belajar Bahasa Jerman, khususnya pada bagian menyimak atau Hörverstehen perlu adanya pemahaman tuturan oleh penutur maupun mitra tutur. Peneliti menganalisis leksem waktu dan leksem ruang yang termasuk deiksis maupun nondeiksis. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori Levinson dengan metode penelitian bahasa. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan dalam transkrip bagian Hörverstehen buku ajar Netzwerk B1 terdapat 136 leksem waktu yang merupakan deiksis waktu yang terdiri dari 6 macam deiksis waktu dan 1 macam leksem waktu sebagai non-deiktis. Leksem waktu berdasarkan perhitungan kalender termasuk bersifat deiktis jika digabungkan dengan pengubah deiktis. Sedangkan untuk deiksis ruang ditemukan 148 leksem. Dari leksem ruang yang ditemukan hanya terdapat 5 macam deiksis ruang. Leksem ruang berdasarkan arah dapat termasuk bersifat deiktis maupun non-deiktis.

Bagi pembelajar bahasa Jepang di Indonesia, Kanji menjadi salah satu “momok” yang menakutkan karena jumlah hurufnya banyak, dan metode pembelajaran Kanji yang kurang menarik. Selama ini, belajar  Kanji dengan cara menghafal dan menulis Kanji secara berulang. Kesulitan belajar Kanji semakin bertambah karena sejak pemerintah menyatakan pandemi Covid-19, pembelajaran harus dilaksanakan secara daring. Salah satu strategi pembelajaran daring pada Kanji 2 adalah dengan menggunakan bantuan video animasi dengan gambar dan cerita. Penulis meneliti efektivitas penggunaan video berbantuan animasi dalam pembelajaran Kanji 2 pada Program Studi Sastra Jepang FIB UB.Teori yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah pembelajaran daring dan blended learning, efektivitas pembelajaran, dan buku pembelajaran Kanji: Sutorii De Oboeru Kanji. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian lapangan yang berupa penelitian deskriptif komparatif dengan metode pre-experimental design dengan bentuk intact-group comparison. Objek penelitian ini adalah 97 orang mahasiswa yang mengambil mata kuliah Kanji 2.Hasil dari penelitian: 1) diketahui nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh mahasiswa dari Ujian Akhir Semester di kelas eksperimen (Kelas A dan B), yakni 87, lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol (Kelas C dan D); dan 2) metode pembelajaran daring berbantuan video animasi dengan gambar dan cerita Kanji dikatakan efektif atau berhasil. Kata Kunci: pembelajaran daring, blended learning, efektivitas pembelajaran, video animasi, intact-group comparison Abstract THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ONLINE LEARNING USED ANIMATION VIDEO ON SUBJECT KANJI 2ON EVEN SEMESTER AT ACADEMIC YEAR 2019/2020 For Japanese language learners in Indonesia, Kanji became a specter, because the number of letter is large. So far, the Kanji learning method is to write reapetedly. The difficulty in learning Kanji has increased since the goverment declared the Covid-19 pandemic, so that, learning must be carried out online. One of learning strategies in Kanji course is online learning, what use animation video with pictutes and stories. The authors examine the effectiveness of using animation-assisted videos in learning Kanji 2 at Study Program Japanese Literature FCS UB.The theory in this research are online learning and blended learning, learning effectiveness, and Kanji book Sutorii de Oboeru Kanji. The method are field research in form of comparative descriptive research with pre-experimental design method on intact-group comparison. The object are Program Japanese Literature students who took Kanji 2, totaling 97 people.          The result are 1) it is known that the average score obtained by students from the results of the Final Semester Examination in the experimental class (Class A and B), is higher than the control class (Class C and D), and 2) animation-assisted videos in learning Kanji what use animation video with pictutes and stories are affective and was successfull. Keyword : online learning, blended learning, learning effectiveness, animation video, intact-group comparison

The purpose of this research is to describe the associative meaning that is formed from the culinary name in Surabaya and to describe the hegemonic nuances inherent in it. This type of research is descriptive qualitative, the data source is the Surabaya urban community and the data is in the form of culinary names that were created. Researchers use a data analyzing corpus. The naming of urban culinary is full of associative meanings that have different connotations from culinary names in the past, representing the psychic condition of the community because naming is a medium of language which is a reflection of the brain and soul of the wearer, the nuances of capital hegemony around class differences, exploitation and oppression. reflected in the names of foods consumed by the urban community in Surabaya in particular. A hegemonic society has not yet reached the point of becoming a survivor, still lamenting the fate and associative baper through the culinary names it created. Efforts to build the community's mentality so as not to continue to feel like a hegomonic victim can be started with the creation of optimistic culinary phrases or terms.

Islamophobic and Antisemitism have nowadays become trending topics in Germany. The rise of muslims population in Germany during migration crisis that cause pro and contra in the society can be the main cause of the Islamophobic in the country lead by Angela Merkel. In the other side there is another phenomenon called antisemtism that historically has occurred since the Nazi’s era. Currently this phenomenon suddenly rise up during migration crisis and it has been strongly discussed after the controversy created by duo rappers Kollegah (Felix Blume) and Farid Bang (Farid El Abdellaoui) who took home the prize for their anti-semitism songs in album Jung, Brutal, Gutaussehend 3. Pro and contra appears and it becomes trending topic in German online newspaper beside the islamophobia that’s still debatable. Even though these two phenomenon has a similiarity, namely ‘anxiety feeling or extreme fear of something’, there is different strategies used by the Press in Germany. Crictical analysis is needed to reveal specific strategies applied and the impact of the kind of strategies on the representation of Muslims and Jews in Germany. Based on critical discourse studies, it can be concluded that the German online newspaper define Islam as out group who create islamophobic. But, Jews are represented differently as a victim of anti-Semitism.

Literacy reading is still rarely done is the Java language literacy. One of the factors that caused the lack of Java language literacy among them, is still rarely encountered reading Javanese language. This study aims to analyze textually and contextually the reading material of Java language class IV literature. This research is a qualitative research. this research data is obtained from the reading of Java language literacy in Madiun district. Based on the result of the research, there are data of grammatical and lexical and contextual aspects contained in the reading of Java class IV language literacy in Madiun district.

Pragmatics is the study of meaning which is involved three aspects (triadic) spoken by the speaker or the writer and translated by the listener or the reader. This study aim at analyzing the politeness strategy in the delivery of directive utterances in the dialog of the characters in Japanese drama called Sapuri and Osen. The study which uses the qualitative method, applies documentation method in collecting the data from the dialogue of the characters in Japanese drama called Sapuri and Osen. By using recording method, the form of directive utterances can be determined. Meanwhile, the meaning and politeness strategy of directive utterances are obtained by observation method. The result of the study shows that politeness strategy which is the most spoken in both Japanese Drama (according to the most spoken) is give association clues, give hints, presuppose, use tautologies, under state, use rhetorical questions, overstate, use contradiction, use metaphors, be vague, be incomplete or use ellipsis, be ironic, and over generalize. No data are found for be ambiguous and displace hearer of politeness strategy.

This research is motivated by the existence of problems in language, because each language has their own habits to join the words with certain words. This habit is called collocation. The focuss in this study, is the use of collocation with the construction of "Nomina + Verba" and its role in Japanese in Minna no Nihongo Shokyuu and Nihongo Chuukyuu. Collocation with verb types is considered as the focus in this study, because verbs are 'lives' in a sentence. The results of this study indicate that the construction of nouns + verbs on Nihongo Shokyuu and Nihongo Chuukyuu are 4 constructions: (a) Noun + wo + Verba there are 3 roles of syntax, namely Objective, Locative and role of Time, (b) Noun + ni + Verb role found are Objective, Locative, Time, Opposition, Direction, Giver, Receiver and Results role roles, c) Noun + ga + role verbs which are objective-patient roles. This is because the construction that meets Nomina + Verba requirements is only in the patient role. Then the last one is construction (d) Nominal + de + Verba with 4 synthetic roles, Locative’s role, Time, Instrument and cause / reason. The type of collocation studied is limited collocation, fixed collocation and idiom.

Pondok Pesantren Tahfidz Daarul Qur’an Jawa Tengah merupakan salah satu lembaga tahfidz qur’an terbaik se-Indonesia. Pondok pesantren ini memiliki santri yang datang dari berbagai daerah antara lain pulau Jawa, Sumatera, Kalimantan, Maluku, Sulawesi, dan Madura. Kesulitan dalam berkomunikasi karena latar belakang kebudayaan, suku dan bahasa yang berbeda menjadikan pondok pesantren tersebut sebagai daerah multietnis di dalamnya. Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pola komunikasi dan mengetahui faktor-faktor pendukung dan penghambat pola komunikasi antarbudaya Para Santri di Pondok Pesantren Tahfidz Daarul Quran Jawa Tengah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Pondok Pesantren Tahfidz Daarul Qur’an Jawa Tengah beralamat di Dusun Suruhan, Desa Keji, Kecamatan Ungaran Barat, Kabupaten Semarang, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret 2018. Tahap-tahap dalam penelitian ini antara lain: (1) mengidentifikasi dan merumuskan masalah, (2) pengumpulan data, dan (3) analisis dan penyajian data. Sumber data penelitian diambil dari sumber data primer dan sumber data sekunder. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian ini dengan metode observasi, metode wawancara dan dokumentasi. Analisis data penelitian ini menggunakan pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan wawancara dengan informan pola komunikasi antarbudaya para santri di Pondok Pesantren Tahfidz Darul Quran Jawa Tengah meliputi pola komunikasi simbolik dan langsung. Pola komunikasi simbolik terdiri atas pola komunikasi verbal berupa bahasa yang digunakan para santri di lingkungan pondok pesantren serta pola komunikasi nonverbal berupa perilaku maupun ekspresi saat berinteraksi dengan teman santri, hal itu terjadi secara langsung sehingga akan menimbulkan umpan balik (feedback) dari komunikator kepada komunikan. Faktor pendukung yang terdapat pada proses komunikasi antarbudaya yang dilakukan oleh para santri adanya ketertarikan saat berkomunikasi, kemampuan berkomunikasi, sikap saling percaya, sikap ramah dan sopan santun, kemampuan beradaptasi, kejelasan informasi, bahasa dan lambang. Sedangkan faktor penghambat komunikasi anntarbudaya ini adalah watak individu, persepsi pelaku komunikasi, pengaruh budaya lain, dan perbedaan bahasa.

One of the difficulties of kanji learning is knowing the meaning of the kanji. This is a very vital thing because kanji is basically a symbol of meaning. Bushu is a kanji-forming factor that shows meaning. For this reason, this study wants to know the influence of bushu understanding on the ability to interpret kanji (a combination of kanji). The theory used in the research is the theory of bushu and kanji. This study using ex post facto research with a quantitative approach. The instrument in this study using a test. The test questions that have been made, are used to determine the level of understanding of bushu on interpreting kanji in Japanese education students 2015. The results showed that the average understanding of bushu respondents was 81.2. While the average understanding of bushu in interpreting the respondent's logo is 85.8. Based on the results of simple linear regression analysis, the magnitude of the influence of bushu understanding (X) on the ability to interpreting kanji (Y) is 50.7%. while the remaining 49.3% is influenced by other factors besides understanding bushu (X). The conclusion of the results of this study is there is a strong influence between understanding bushu on the ability to interpret the meaning of kanji.
