Abstract.This article aims to present the partial results of a larger bibliometric study in which the quality of the bibliographical references of the doctoral theses of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León is analyzed, in this partial study, the trends of citation of the two PhD’s degree of FACPYA in the field of Administration and Accounting are analyzed, taking as a field of study 35 doctoral theses from both areas, defended during the years 2011 to 2015 and which are in the databases from the UANL Digital Collection. For the analysis, 5 bibliometric index variables were used at international level to evaluate scientific publications through which it was proposed to answer the following questions: What is the average of the references that contain these documents? What kind of documents do they use? How old are the cited documents? (Price index), Which language is the most used?, Which percentage presents errors in the application of the bibliographic style?. The objective of the work was to identify the type of sources that were consulted to elaborate the theses. The important findings about the average number of documents was acceptable, as well as the varied type of documents used, as is the case with most of the studies in the subject. The index of references of journal articles indicates an acceptable consumption use of scientific information, the Price Index describes acceptable percentages of updated information consumption and identified errors in the handling of the bibliographic style. Key words: bibliometric study, doctoral thesis, obsolescence of literature, price index, references.

Introduction The Journal of Morphological Sciences (JMS), the official journal of the Brazilian Society of Anatomy, is an interesting option for researchers to publish in the field of morphology. It includes articles that cover a wide variety of topics, such as gross and microscopic human and animal anatomy, embryology, cell and molecular biology, clinical cases and reviews. We aimed to perform a bibliometric study to analyze the profile of JMS publications from 2000 to 2017, in order to understand in depth the origins of the researches and the subject of the manuscripts published in this journal. Material and Methods This is a descriptive bibliographical review research, with a bibliometric analysis of the scientific production of the JMS between 2000 and 2017. A total of 894 publications were analyzed, and they were distributed in 63 issues and organized into 18 volumes. Three groups of information were considered: a) “identification of the published articles;” b) “origin and authorship of the published articles;” and c) “research subject in the published articles.” Results Most of the published manuscripts were original articles (72.5%) and their subjects were mainly microscopic animal anatomy (27%) and gross human anatomy (26.6%). A total 63.3% of the manuscripts involved at least one Brazilian institution, and 59.4% of those were public institutions. Conclusion This manuscript provides an important contribution to those who are publishing in the JMS, since the authors can find a great deal of information on the quality of the science that is being published in the journal, as well as demographic information on authors and institutions.

Abstract Is it journal editors’ role to decide whether the language of the manuscripts submitted to their journals is fine? Among so many duties they have, this one seems to be all-too-often forgotten, or ignored, affecting the quality of scientific publications. Their indifference can also lead to unnecessary arguments between authors and reviewers, or to situations in which the authors have no idea what to do. Left alone, authors seldom win, even if they are right. This paper discusses whose role it is to keep writing quality of journal articles.

AbstractEconomic globalization in modern times has led to an increase in economic inequality, not only between countries but also inwardly thereof, and job insecurity, among other things. The International Labour Organization (ilo) has developed a proposal known as Decent Work, as an alternative to move towards greater equality, promoting minimum conditions for workers to meet their basic needs, work in the framework of existing legislation, and promoting the right to union participation. By taking as an example the case of Mexico, this paper discusses how economic globalization has contributed to the deepening of inequalities between countries and within them. Also, it analyzes the conditions of decent work at the country level and in the Northeast (Coahuila, Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas) and South (Chiapas, Guerrero and Oaxaca) of Mexico, where there are large contrasts, showing the areas where policies can be applied to improve the quality of jobs and thus move towards greater equality.Key words: globalization; inequality; labor precariousness; decent work index; regions.

The aim of the study was to study the available approaches to the formulation and quality control of forensic medical expert conclusions. We have studied the literature sources containing recommendations on drawing up expert opinions and improving their quality. After a selection of scientific publications and publications on the subject matter with the help of a descriptive method, the article presents the existing approaches to this problem. As a result of the conducted research, the absence of any general objective requirements for expert conclusions was revealed. The development of unified standards for writing and the definition of “signs of quality” of expert conclusions is a promising task of forensic science and practice, the solution of which will improve the quality of examinations.

Estimated numbers of scientific journals in print each year are approximately close to 70,000-80,000 (Rowland, McKnight, & Meadows, 1995). Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) each year adds over 1.3 million new articles and more than 30 million new citations to its science citation databases of 8,500 research journals. The widely available electronic repositories of scientific publications, such as digital libraries, preprint archives, and Web-based citation indexing services, have considerably improved the way articles are being accessed. However, it has become increasingly difficult to see the big picture of science. Scientific frontiers and longer-term developments of scientific disciplines have been traditionally studied from sociological and philosophical perspectives (Kuhn, 1962; Stewart, 1990). The scientometrics community has developed quantitative approaches to the study of science. In this article, we introduce the history and the state of the art associated with the ambitious quest for detecting and tracking the advances of scientific frontiers through quantitative and computational approaches. We first introduce the background of the subject and major developments. We then highlight the key challenges and illustrate the underlying principles with an example.

The present work aims to carry out a structured and bibliographic review based on the results found regarding the terms Hippotherapy and Elderly people. For the reference search, the following keywords in English, Hippotherapy and Elderly, were used as descriptors, these keywords being always entered in databases of the same language. The computerized databases SCOPUS, WOS, SPORTDiscus were used. PubMed and Cochrane. To limit the search for documents, four inclusion criteria were introduced: i) Mention at least some of the characteristics of Hippotherapy for the elderly (minimum 20 words that mention the subject), ii) Select only scientific documents (journal articles) These articles may have an experimental design or be review articles, iii) Be accessible and be available in full text or with access to the abstract, and iiii) Be written in Spanish, English or Portuguese. The results show that the papers on Hippotherapy in the elderly address different research topics and show that equestrian therapies have beneficial therapeutic effects in the elderly population. Hippotherapy interventions improve static balance and dynamic balance, postural balance, functional mobility, flexibility, muscular strength, gait and cadence of steps. They reduce spasticity, causing a decrease in the risk of falls and an improvement in the quality of life of the elderly. In addition, they cause benefits on a psychological level, reducing levels of stress and depression, which produces an improvement in the quality of sleep and positively influences mood.
