Abstract Is it journal editors’ role to decide whether the language of the manuscripts submitted to their journals is fine? Among so many duties they have, this one seems to be all-too-often forgotten, or ignored, affecting the quality of scientific publications. Their indifference can also lead to unnecessary arguments between authors and reviewers, or to situations in which the authors have no idea what to do. Left alone, authors seldom win, even if they are right. This paper discusses whose role it is to keep writing quality of journal articles.

This book provides the qualitative research community with some insight on how to evaluate the quality of qualitative research. This topic has gained little attention during the past few decades. We, qualitative researchers, read journal articles, serve on masters’ and doctoral committees, and also make decisions on whether conference proposals, manuscripts, or large-scale grant proposals should be accepted or rejected. It is assumed that various perspectives or criteria, depending on various paradigms, theories, or fields of discipline, have been used in assessing the quality of qualitative research. Nonetheless, until now, no textbook has been specifically devoted to exploring theories, practices, and reflections associated with the evaluation of qualitative research. This book constructs a typology of evaluating qualitative research, examines actual information from websites and qualitative journal editors, and reflects on some challenges that are currently encountered by the qualitative research community. Many different kinds of journals’ review guidelines and available assessment tools are collected and analyzed. Consequently, core criteria that stand out among these evaluation tools are presented. Readers are invited to join the author to confidently proclaim: “Fortunately, there are commonly agreed, bold standards for evaluating the goodness of qualitative research in the academic research community. These standards are a part of what is generally called ‘scientific research.’ ”

Increasing the visibility of a journal is the key to increasing quality. The International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications works with journal editors in the global South to publish their journals online and to increase the efficiency of the peer review process. Editors are trained in using the Open Journals System software and in online journal management and strategy so they have the tools and knowledge needed to initiate a ‘virtuous cycle' in which visibility leads to an increase in the number and quality of submissions and in turn, increased citations and impact. In order to maximise this increase in quality, it must be supported by strong editorial office processes and management. This article describes some of the issues and strategies faced by the editors INASP works with, placing a particular emphasis on Nepal Journals Online. Key words: INASP; Open Journals System; Journals Online Projects; Nepal Journals Online; journal visibility; peer review DOI: 10.3126/dsaj.v3i0.2786 Dhaulagiri Journal of Sociology and Anthropology Vol.3 2009 175-184

This article aims to examine the contribution of Vargo and Lusch (V&L) to service-dominant logic (S-D logic) thinking from the first time it appeared until now. No previous study has specifically analyzed all contributions of V&L since the phenomenon appearance of their article about this perspective in 2004. We identified a total of 146 titles of scientific publications by V&L with other authors on the S-D logic perspective over a period of 17 years (2004–2020). Each publication was analyzed through content analysis in several key aspects. This study found that the types of publications were dominated by journal articles and book chapters. There are 95 names of authors who have collaborated with V&L, mostly from the Americas and Europe. Based on the organization of origin of the researcher, 64 organizations have collaborated with V&L. All V&L publications are spread across 44 scientific journals, which include marketing and non-marketing journals or those from other social sciences. As a novelty, this study succeeds in explaining the evolution of S-D logic research over time based on V&L works through a systematic investigation. In this study, V&L’s efforts to institutionalize S-D logic can be traced.

Abstract.This article aims to present the partial results of a larger bibliometric study in which the quality of the bibliographical references of the doctoral theses of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León is analyzed, in this partial study, the trends of citation of the two PhD’s degree of FACPYA in the field of Administration and Accounting are analyzed, taking as a field of study 35 doctoral theses from both areas, defended during the years 2011 to 2015 and which are in the databases from the UANL Digital Collection. This chapter introduces the journal article module. The chapter describes some of the defining characteristics of a journal article while emphasizing concise writing and organization. By the end of this chapter, you should be able to do the following: Recognize the importance ■ of concise writing ■ Identify the broad organizational structure of journal articles ■ Explain what is meant by targeted reading and keywords As you move through the chapter, you will begin to plan your own journal- quality paper. The Writing on Your Own tasks throughout the chapter will guide you in this process: 2A Get started 2B Select your topic 2C Conduct a literature search 2D Find additional resources 2E Decide on the broad organization of your paper Module 1 focuses entirely on writing a journal-quality paper, a paper suitable for submission to a refereed chemistry journal. Refereed journals include only articles that have made it through a rigorous peer-review process. In this process, a submitted manuscript is critically reviewed by two or more anonymous reviewers. The reviewers are asked to judge both the scientific merit and writing quality of the manuscript. Authors are often required to revise their work before it can be accepted for publication. The entire review process can take six months or longer. An account of the review process typically appears in the published article, for example, Received for review March 9, 2008. Revised manuscript received August 3, 2008. Accepted August 5, 2008. Once published, the journal article becomes part of the primary literature of chemistry. The primary literature is a permanent and public record of all scientific works, many of which are refereed journal articles.
