Abstract The article examines the nature and importance of using aesthetic and therapeutic concept and educational logotherapy, in particular, for creating a special emotionally comfortable socioeducational environment for primary education The author has represented inteipretation of foreign scholars' views (J. Bugental, V. Frankl, A. Maslow, R. May, J. Moreno, C. Rogers et al) on such terms as “communication ”, “aesthetotherapy ”, “educational logotherapy” etc. An attempt has been made to analyze the social coTitent of pedagogical activity in the context of using logotherapy in primary school based on an agogical paradigm. In the scope of the article, the specific of using the therapeutic metaphor in the educational environment of primary' school has been represented as well as the basic stages of its implementation have been determined. These stages are the following: description of the storyline, persuasion and binding. The author has defined the role of the “living metaphors” in organization of the therapeutic interaction between the teacher and primary' schoolchildren. Particular attention has been paid to formation of the humanistic competency among primary schoolchildren; this competency is to be based on their understanding of the following philosophical and pedagogical categories: a norm (as a means and a results of pupils' social activity), freedom (as a mean and a result of individual self-expression among primary schoolchildren) and happiness (as an individual self-expression among primaryr schoolchildren). The author has assessed the role of deflection method and paradoxical intention for the social development of the pupil and further formation of the individual. Additional attention has been paid to determination of the socioeducational and psychological and pedagogical potential of such leading method in logotherapy as “The Socratic dialogue” (or “The Socratic circle”): as well have been highlighted the main stages of its implementation: consent (search for what pupil may agree), doubt (an expression of doubts towards weak arguments of interlocutor) and arguments (the teacher must convey' one’s opinion, without any resistance from the child): have been represented different various algorithms of its realization: the method of “aquarium”, “panel method” and “questioning technique”.

The aim of this study was a comprehensive coverage of the effectiveness of instilling moral values in the education of primary schoolchildren for their further update. The following tools were used for the collection and processing of statistical data: scientific literature review, survey results, questionnaires for parents, generalization of theoretical and empirical data, diagnostic methods (direct and indirect pedagogical observation, unfinished sentence technique, game activity, icon exercises, analysis of moral and ethical situations, independent characteristics), statistical methods of calculation. The online utility Text Analyzer was used to process open responses from parent questionnaires. The introduction of individual, group, as well as training forms of work, discussion, feedback techniques, games and art methods into the educational process of primary school has provided positive changes in instilling moral values in students. The interaction of family and school contributed to the development and improvement of parents’ pedagogical knowledge and skills. The levels of moral values in primary schoolchildren in experimental groups after the completion of the formative stage of the experiment significantly exceed the indicators of control groups.

AbstractThe current study was aiming to report the prevalence of suboptimal vitamin D status among schoolchildren in Greece and investigate the role of sex, urbanisation and seasonality on vitamin D status. A sample of 2386 schoolchildren (9–13 years old) from four distinct prefectures was examined. The prevalence of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) concentration <30 and <50 nmol/l (vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency respectively) was 5·2 and 52·5 %, respectively. Girls had a higher prevalence of 25(OH)D<30 (7·2 v. 3·2 %) and 50 nmol/l (57·0 v. 48·0 %) than boys (P<0·001). The highest prevalence rates of 25(OH)D<30 and 50 nmol/l (9·1 and 73·1 %, respectively) were observed during spring (April to June), whereas the lowest (1·5 and 31·9 %, respectively) during autumn (October to December). The prevalence of 25(OH)D<50 nmol/l was higher in urban/semi-urban than rural regions, particularly during spring months (74·6 v. 47·2 %; P<0·001). Female sex, urban/semi-urban region of residence and spring months were found to increase the likelihood of vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency, with the highest OR observed for spring months (7·47; 95 % CI 3·23, 17·3 and 5·14; 95 % CI 3·84, 6·89 for 25(OH)D<30 and 50 nmol/l respectively). In conclusion, despite the southerly latitude, the prevalence of low vitamin D status among primary schoolchildren in Greece is comparable to or exceeds the prevalence reported among children and adolescents on a European level. Sub-populations at highest risk are girls in urban/semi-urban areas during spring months, thus indicating the need for effective initiatives to support adequate vitamin D status in these population groups.

It highlights the leading motives that stimulate the manifestation of educational independence. It show the role of reflection in the formation of subjectivity, awareness and responsibility.

Purpose:The evidence regarding the role of physical activity (PA) habits on cognitive development in children is still scarce. Our study aimed to assess the association between PA habits and cognitive growth patterns, including working memory (WM) and inattentiveness in a large sample of primary schoolchildren.Method:This study included 2,897 children between 7 and 10 years old. WM was measured using the n-back task (2- and 3-back) and inattentiveness was measured using the attentional network task (ANT) on four occasions during one year. Parents completed a questionnaire with data about the extracurricular exercise of their child, commuting to school and other sociodemographic information at the first visit.Results:Exercising twice per week or more was associated with better 2-back, 3-back and inattentiveness scores at baseline, as compared with the once per week or less category. Active commuting for more than 50 min was associated with better 3-back scores at baseline, as compared with passive commuting. No consistent associations were found between PA and cognitive growth.Conclusion:Overall, although children with high levels of PA performed better in cognitive tasks at baseline, PA levels had no clear effects on cognitive growth trajectories.

The article discusses the theoretical substantiation of method of biography in the spiritual and moral education of schoolchildren and the experience of its application in an educational institution. The theoretical part presents an analysis of the concepts of spiritual and moral education, values, ideals, biography. It highlights the national values, regulated by modern standards of education. The approaches of Russian teachers to the concept and role of biography in the upbringing of the younger generation are considered. The structural components of the lesson that uses the method of biography, modules for compiling a biography in the context of spiritual and moral education have been determined. The empirical part is devoted to describing the experience of using the method of biography in the spiritual and moral education of primary schoolchildren, aimed at generating interest in science, in the events that took place in the lives of prominent Russian scientists, creating in students a sense of involvement in outstanding achievements and victories, developing the ability to set worthy goals, work, self-development and self-realization. Examples of lessons are given. The results of observations are presented and recommendations for further study are given.

The importance of external and internal motivation in the academic success of students and their persistence in achieving educational and cognitive goals is considered within the framework of the theory of self-determination. The role of different types of educational motivation in the development of the creative potential of students remains insufficiently studied, especially in relation to primary schoolchildren. The research objective is to clarify the role of different motives for learning activity through differences in the figurative and verbal creativity of intellectually gifted primary schoolchildren on the threshold of adolescence. The study involved 96 intellectually gifted primary schoolchildren of the 3rd-4th grades (the average age is 9.6; the number of boys and girls is the same). The internal and external motivation of their educational activity was studied using the “Scale of educational motivation” developed by T.O. Gordeeva based on the Academic Self-Regulation Questionnaire (SRQ-A) by Ryan and Connell. Divergent creativity was analyzed using N.B. Shumakova’s methodology “Figurative and verbal creativity”. An ambiguous relationship has been revealed between different types of motivation and indicators of verbal and imaginative creativity. Internal cognitive motivation and self-development are reliably and directly related to imaginative fluency (r=0.28 and r=0.24), while external motivation (parental regulation) and imaginative creativity (including imaginative originality and elaboration) are linked reversely (r=-0.31, r=-0.24). The regression analysis has demonstrated that external motivation (learning for the sake of fulfilling the parents’ requirements) at primary school age is a negative predictor of imaginative creativity and originality of intellectually gifted students in their adolescence (F=6.91, β=-0.321, p=0.01 and F=6.57, β=-0.314, p=0.01).

This study analyses various disorders of general motor skills, voluntary finger movement, and articulatory motor skills of school-aged children with hearing loss. The analyzed disorders of the motor sphere of schoolchildren with auditory deprivation are not of a pronounced character but are one of the reasons for their lag in psychophysiological and speech development. The results of studies that reveal specific motor difficulties of deaf primary schoolchildren are considered. The role of dysfunction of the vestibular system in movement disorders in children with hearing impairment has been determined. Particular attention is paid to the consideration of the complex possibilities of correctional and developmental work of educational institutions for deaf children to overcome motor development disorders of deaf primary schoolchildren. The role of complex correctional and developmental work at the initial stage of school training in educational institutions for deaf children has been determined. The possibilities of using computer technologies as an effective resource in the motor and speech development of young schoolchildren with hearing impairment are shown.
