<p style="text-align: justify;">The objectives of this researchwasto determine the effect of growing media composition on growth and production of two varieties of tomatoes in a hydroponic system. The research used Randomized Complate Block Design (RCBD) with two factors, they were tomato varieties and growing media composition. The tomato varieties were (Arthaloka, Permata) and growing media compotition were 100% husk (v/v), 75% husk + 25% bamboo leaves compost (v/v), 50% husks + 50% bamboo leaves compost (v/v), 25% husk + 75% bamboo leaves compost (v/v), and 100% bamboo leaves compost (v/v). Permata variety better than Arthaloka variety, based the higher number of flower and flower bunches, number of fruit, weight of fruit and grade of fruit. Bamboo leaves compost increased heigh of plant at 2-5 week after transplanting (WAT), number of leaves at 2-4 WAT, number of flower at 4-5 WAT, and 7-8 WAT, and number of flowers bunches at 5–11 WAT. The used of bamboo leaf compost 50% (v/v) and 75% (v/v) increased fruit number of tomato Permata variety at 7 WAT.</p><p>Keywords: rice husk, bamboo leaf compost, hydroponics, tomato production</p>

This study aims to determine the effect of trimming with a wide variety of growing media hydroponic system fertigation on growth and yield of melon. Research will be conducted in the green house (House of plastic) UMSIDA Agriculture Faculty, Campus 2, Gelam, Candi, Sidoarjo, research time between the months of March to June 2016 using analysis of variance and continued test HSD 5%. The variables measured were plant height, leaf number, level of sweetness of fruit, fruit weight, high-fruit, thickness of the flesh of the fruit, conclusion from this research is going on the effect of trimming and a wide variety of growing media hydroponic system fertigation in treatment PM5 (trimming down, kokopit). There was also a real influence on the treatment PM6 (without pruning, kokopit) .In observation of plant height, leaf number, fruit weight, and high fruit. And also happens to influence a wide range of growing media on growth and yield of melon on hydroponics fertigation system, the PM6 treatment (without pruning, kokopit) had the highest rates in the observation of plant height, weight of the fruit, and the number of leaves.

This study aims 1) To determine the effect of the interaction types of cow manure with liquid organic fertilizer on the grwoth and yield of purple eggplant. 2) two know the effect of cow manure on the growth and yield of purple eggplant, 3) to know in the influence of liquid organic fertilizier on the growth and yield of purple eggplant . this research was conducted by using Randomizedby Block Design in Faktorial ( RAK ) with two factors, the first factor is Cow manure (K), consisting of three levels ie cow manure 500 gram (K1), cow manure 750 gram (K2), com manure 1000 gram  (K3 ). The second factor is liquid organic fertilizer ( P ) consists of three levels : liquid organic fertilizer 3 mili ( P1 ) liquid organik fertilizer 6 mili (P2), liquid organik fertilizer 9 mili (P3). The observed variables in include plant  height, number of leaves, number of fruits, fruit length and fruit weight . Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) level of 5%. The results showed that: there was no interaction between cow manure and liquid organic fertilizer on growth and yield of purplish eggplant. Treatment of cow manure 500 gram ( K1 ) effect on plant height 56 hst and cow manure 1000 gram (K3 ) have an effect on total fruit length. In the treatment of liquid organik fertilizer 6 mili ( P2 ) effect on plant height 28 hst and the treatment of liquid fertilizerr 9 mili (P3 ) have an effect to harvest length 1. There is no interaction between cow manure an liquid fertilizer to the growth and yield of eggplant purple.

ABSTRAK<br />Tanaman kemukus (Piper cubeba LINN.) sudah dikenal sejak<br />jaman dahulu sebagai tanaman obat, rempah, pengharum dan penyedap<br />masakan. Di Jawa Tengah perbanyakan tanaman kemukus pada umumnya<br />dilakukan melalui setek panjang yang terdiri dari 8 - 14 ruas. Perbanyakan<br />dengan cara demikian dianggap tidak ekonomis, oleh karena itu perlu<br />dicari cara perbanyakan yang efisien dan efektif. Percobaan pengaruh<br />macam setek dan komposisi media tumbuh terhadap daya tumbuh dan<br />vigor bibit dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mendapatkan teknologi<br />perbanyakan kemukus. Percobaan dilakukan di Kebun Percobaan<br />Cimanggu, Balai Penelitian Tanaman Rempah dan Obat Bogor dari bulan<br />September sampai dengan Desember 2003. Percobaan menggunakan<br />rancangan acak kelompok yang disusun secara faktorial dengan 2 faktor<br />dan 3 ulangan. Sebagai faktor pertama adalah 3 macam setek pendek 3<br />ruas yaitu : (1) setek bertapak, (2) setek sulur panjat dan (3) setek cabang<br />buah. Faktor kedua adalah tiga perlakuan komposisi media tumbuh terdiri<br />dari (tanah + pupuk kandang + pasir) dengan perbandingan: (a) 1:1:1, (b)<br />2:1:1, dan (c) 3:1:1. Media dimasukkan ke dalam polibag ukuran 10 x 12<br />cm. Variabel yang diamati meliputi persentase daya tumbuh, panjang<br />tunas, jumlah daun, bobot kering tunas, jumlah akar, panjang akar dan<br />bobot kering akar. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa vigor bibit yang<br />diekspresikan oleh persentase daya tumbuh, pertumbuhan tunas dan akar<br />tidak nyata dipengaruhi oleh interaksi jenis setek dan komposisi media<br />tumbuh. Jenis setek berpangaruh nyata terhadap semua variabel yang<br />diamati, kecuali terhadap jumlah daun. Jenis setek yang berasal dari setek<br />bertapak dan sulur panjat manghasilkan persentase daya tumbuh 68,40%<br />dan 62,00%, panjang tunas 2,87 cm dan 4,70 cm, bobot kering tunas 0,13<br />g dan 0,14 g, jumlah akar 5,95 dan 5,76 dan bobot kering akar 0,05 g dan<br />0.05 g, lebih baik dibandingkan setek cabang buah. Jenis media tumbuh<br />hanya berpengaruh nyata terhadap bobot kering tunas tapi tidak<br />berpengruh nyata terhadap variabel lainnya. Bobot kering tunas yang<br />terbaik didapat pada komposisi media tumbuh tanah + pupuk kandang +<br />pasir (1 : 1 : 1) (0,14 g) dan terendah pada komposisi media tumbuh tanah<br />+ pupuk kandang + pasir (3 : 1 : 1) (0.11 g).<br />Kata kunci : Kemukus, Piper cubeba LINN, bahan tanaman, macam<br />setek, media tumbuh, daya tumbuh, Jawa Barat<br />ABSTRACT<br />Effect of cutting materials and growth media on the<br />growth of cubeba cuttings<br />In Indonesia, cubeba pepper plant (Piper cubeba LINN) has been<br />known for years as a traditional medicine, spice, fragrant, and seasonings.<br />In Central of Java, it is usually propagated by using eight or fourteen node<br />cuttings which is not an economical practice. The research on cutting<br />materials and growth media was conducted in Cimanggu Experimental<br />Garden of the Indonesian Spice and Medicinal Crops Research Institute<br />from September to December 2003. The objective of the research was to<br />find out an appropriate propagation technology of cubeba. The research<br />used two factors and three replications which was arranged in a<br />randomized completely block design. The first factor was three kinds of<br />cutting nodes, i.e. (1) attached-rooted cuttings (2) vegetative branch and<br />(3) generative branch. The second factor was three kinds of media<br />compositions of soil, dung manure and sand (1) 1:1:1, (2) 2:1:1 and (3)<br />3:1:1. Observations were conducted on the percentage of budding, length<br />of bud, number of leaves, number of roots, length of root, dry weight of<br />the roots, and the shoot. The results of the research indicated that the vigor<br />of seedlings which was expressed by germination percentage, growth of<br />seedlings, and growth of root, did not significantly affected by the<br />interaction between kinds of cuttings and media composition. However,<br />the kinds of cuttings significantly affected all variables, except the number<br />of leaves. Cubeba seedlings originated from attached-rooted cuttings and<br />vegetative branch had higher germination percentage i.e. 68.40% and<br />62.00%, length of shoot 2.87 cm and 4.70 cm, dry weight of shoot 0.13 g<br />and 0.14 g, number of roots 5.95 and 5.76, length of root 7.32 cm and 7.27<br />cm, and dry weight of root 0.05 g and 0.05 g, compared to the cubeba<br />seedlings originated from generative branch. Media composition was<br />significantly effected only on dry weight of shoots. The highest dry weight<br />of shoot was resulted from composition of soil, dung manure and sand<br />1:1;1 (0.14 g), while the lowest was found on ratio media composition of<br />soil, dung manure and sand 3:1:1 (0.11g).<br />Key words : Cubeba, Piper cubeba LINN, plant material, cutting<br />materials, growth media, growth, West Java

Okra (Abelmoschus esculantus) L. Moench), is an important vegetable that grows in the tropical and sub-tropical parts of the world. Okra plants contain very high nutritional value (at 100 g of young okra fruit containing 35 g of calories, 89.6 g of water, 6.4 g of carbohydrates, 1.9 g of protein, 0.4 g of fat, 1.2 g of fiber, 0 , 7 g of minerals). In Indonesia, okra plants have not been widely cultivated and the cultivation method has not used the right technology, so it is necessary to examine the proper cultivation methods of Okra. This study aims to determine the EC value of the most optimal nutrient solution and the effect of the type of planting media that is best on the growth and yield of okra plants. The research was carried out in plastic houses located in Pondok, Karangbendo, Banguntapan, Bantul, Yogyakarta in May to August 2018. Experiments using polybag with a Complete Randomized Block Design (RAKL) Split Plot two factors were repeated 3 times. The first factor as the main plot is the EC value of nutrient solution (C1: EC value 1.5 mS / cm, C2: EC value 2 mS / cm, C3: EC value 2.5 mS / cm) and the second factor as sub plot is type planting media (M1: Husk charcoal, M2: Sand Malang, M3: Husk charcoal + Cocopeat (1:1). The results showed that there was no interaction between the treatment of giving various EC values of nutrient solution and type of planting media. The treatment of various EC values of nutrient solution and type of planting media significantly affected the parameters of plant height growth, leaf area, root volume, flowering age, stem diameter, parameters of total fruit yield per plant, fresh weight per fruit, total fruit weight per plant, fruit weight per Ha. The treatment of giving EC values of 2.0 mS / cm showed suitable results for the growth and yield of okra plants. The treatment of the type of husk charcoal growing media showed suitable results for the growth and yield of okra plants.Keywords: Okra Plant, Substrate Hydroponic, Planting Media, Solution EC Value

This study aims to determine the effect of eggshell powder application and manure on the growth and production of watermelon on meulaboh peat soils and whether these two factors were real or not. This research was conducted in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Teuku Umar Meulaboh University from December 2018 to April 2019. This study used a 4 x 4 factorial randomized block design with three replications. The egg shell powder (C) factor consisted of four the levels are: C0 = control, C1 = 300 kg / ha (2.25 g / polybag), C2 = 400kg / ha (3 / polybag), C3 = 500 kg / ha (3.75 g / polybag) (Syam et al., 2014). Factor manure (K) consists of four levels, namely: K0 = control, K1 = 50 tons / ha (0.375 kg / polybag), K2 = 100 tons / ha (0.75 kg / polybag), K3 = 150 tons / ha (1,125 kg / polybag) Observation parameters include; plant length (cm), number of leaves, age of flowering, fruit length (cm), diameter of fruit (cm), weight of fruit (kg), production of tons / ha. The results showed that the dose of eggshell had a significant effect on increasing soil pH, a very significant effect on the length of the 15 HST plant but had no significant effect on the length of the 30 HST plant, the number of leaves 15 and 30 HST, and the flowering phase. Significantly affect the fruit length and fruit diameter. However, no significant effect on fruit weight and tons / ha production. Manure has a very significant effect on the length of watermelon plants aged 15 HST. However, the effect was not significant at the age of 30 HST. Significant effect on the number of watermelon leaves aged 15 HST, however, very significant effect on the age of 30 HST. Very significant influence on watermelon flowers and very significant effect on fruit length, diameter, fruit weight, and tons / ha production. <p>Volume dan jenis media tumbuh sangat penting dalam mendukung pertumbuhan bibit karet (Hevea brasiliensis) untuk batang bawah. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui pertumbuhan batang bawah dan keberhasilan okulasi hijau tanaman karet pada beberapa ukuran polybag dan komposisi media tumbuh. Pelaksanaan penelitian mulai bulan Januari sampai Desember 2013 di Kebun Percobaan Pakuwon, Kecamatan Parungkuda, Kabupaten Sukabumi, Jawa Barat. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) faktorial dengan dua faktor dan 3 ulangan. Faktor petama adalah ukuran polybag yang terdiri dari tiga ukuran: (1) 30 ´ 20 cm, (2) 35 ´ 20 cm, dan (3) 40 ´ 20 cm. Faktor kedua adalah media tumbuh yang terdiri dari tanah dan pupuk kandang sapi dengan empat komposisi: (1) 1 : 0, (2) 3 : 1, (3) 2 : 1, dan (4) 1 : 1. Pengamatan dilakukan terhadap pertumbuhan bibit batang bawah pra okulasi, meliputi tinggi bibit, diameter bibit batang bawah, jumlah daun, dan persentase keberhasilan okulasi hijau. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ukuran polybag berpengaruh positif terhadap pertumbuhan batang bawah tanaman karet umur 6 bulan setelah tanam. Semakin besar ukuran polybag (30 x 20–40 x 20 cm), semakin baik pertumbuhan batang bawah. Media tumbuh bibit yang terdiri dari tanah dengan pupuk kandang sapi dengan perbandingan 1 : 1 menghasilkan pertumbuhan batang bawah serta persentase keberhasilan okulasi hijau tanaman karet yang tertinggi. Tidak terdapat interaksi yang nyata antara ukuran polybag dengan media tumbuh terhadap pertumbuhan batang bawah dengan keberhasilan okulasi hijau.</p><p>Kata kunci: Hevea brasiliensis, polybag, media tumbuh, bibit batang bawah, okulasi hijau</p><p>Volume and type of growing media is important to support the growth of rubber seedling (Hevea brasiliensis) for rootstocks. The objective of this study was to determine the growth of rootstock and green budding success of rubber plants in different size of polybag and growing media. The research was carried out since January to December 2013 at the Pakuwon experimental garden, Parungkuda District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java. The study used a randomized block design (RBD) in factorial with two factors and three replications. The first factor is the sizes of polybag: (1) 30 ´ 20 cm, (2) 35 ´ 20 cm, and (3) 40 ´ 20 cm. Meanwhile, the second factor is the growing medium that consists of the mixture of soil and cow manure with 4 proportions: (1) 1 : 0, (2) 3 : 1, (3) 2 : 1, and (4) 1 : 1. Observations were made on the growth of pre-budding rootstock including seedling height, seedling diameter, number of leaves, and the success percentage of green budding. The results showed that the size of polybag has positive effect on the growth of the rubber seedling as rootstock at 6 months old after planting. Moreover, the use of large sizes of polybag (30 x 20–40 x 20 cm) was good for the growth of rootstocks that would be used for green budding. In addition, growing media that consisted of soil and cow manure at a comparison of 1 : 1 gave the highest effect on the growth of rootstock as well as the highest percentage of green budding success. However, there is no interaction between the size of polybag and growing media to the growth of rootstock and green budding success.</p>

Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) is a popular leafy vegetable. Most of its varieties are eaten fresh and commonly served as a garnish in fried rice or complementary vegetables in some fast food meals such as burgers and green salads. Nowadays, most lettuce varieties are grown hydroponically, replacing the soil and feeding all nutrients through the water. A hydroponic system is also considered a solution to overcome the shortage of arable lands and good-quality water.  This research aims to evaluate the lettuce response towards the application of AB-mix fertilizer in the hydroponic system. This research was designed using Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors (AB mix concentrations and lettuce varieties) and three replications. The results revealed between AB-mix concentrations and lettuce varieties, where the application of AB-mix increased the number of leaves. AB-mix's application gave an effect to all variables observed: plant height, leaf width, leaf number, and leaf chlorophyll but insignificant to root length.

The study aimed to determine the effect of the combination of city waste compost and cattle manure on the growth and yield of pakcoy plants (Brassica rapa, L. Chinensis) in Aluvial, Indramayu Regency. The study was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Wiralodra University, Indramayu Regency from March to August 2018. This study used Factorial Pattern Randomized Block Design with two factors. The first factor is city waste compost and the second factor is cattle manure with 4 levels: 0%, 3.0%, 6.0%, and 9.0%, repeated twice. The results showed that there was an independent influence between city waste compost and cattle manure on plant height and number of leaves. The best combination to increase the feasibility weight of pakcoy consumption is by giving city waste compost 9.0% (S4) and cattle manure 6.0% (K3).

The study was carried out to find out the effect of zinc (Zn) and boron (B) on growth and yield of okra (BARI Dherosh 1). The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The treatments of the experiment were, T0 (without Zn or B), T1 (20 kg Zn ha-1), T2 (30 kg Zn ha-1), T3 (10 kg B ha-1), T4 (20 kg B ha-1), T5 (20 kg Zn ha-1 + 10 kg B ha-1), T6 (20 kg Zn ha-1 + 20 kg B ha-1), T7 (30 kg Zn ha-1 + 10 kg B ha-1) and T8 (30 kg Zn ha-1 + 20 kg B ha-1) were undertaken to evaluate the best results of the study. The highest plant height was found in T8 (30 kg Zn ha-1 + 20 kg B ha-1) but the highest number of leaves plant-1 was recorded from T7 (30 kg Zn ha-1 + 10 kg B ha-1). On the other hand, the maximum leaf area index, SPAD value, mean fruit weight, fruit length, fruit diameter, fruit dry matter (%), number of fruits plant-1, fresh fruit weight plant-1 , fruit yield plot-1 and fruit yield ha-1 were found in T7 (30 kg Zn ha-1 + 10 kg B ha-1), while the control (T0) showed lowest performance for the respected parameters. It is strongly concluded that 30 kg Zn ha-1 with 10 kg B ha-1 combination may be helpful for okra cultivation in the field level to increase okra production.
