Various pathologies, in particular hypertension, accompany violation of the processes of free radical oxidation. The state of the system lipid peroxidation – antioxidant protection can be assessed only by a complex of biochemical methods. The chemiluminescent method is used to obtain a faster result. The method has a number of advantages: measurement of chemiluminescence parameters is carried out in natural conditions and does not require sample preparation, is highly selective, it can be used to identify the presence of free radical pathology, analysis of the intensity of lipid peroxidation processes, the effectiveness of treatment with antioxidant medicament. The aim of the research was to study the lipid peroxidation under hypertension and stress by chemiluminescence. The experiment was conducted on male rats of the ISIAH line. The experiment consisted of 2 stages: stage of alarm and stage of chronic stress. We found that, depending on the type of stress, the state of the system lipid peroxidation-antioxidant protection differed. The role of stress in violation of the processes of lipoperoxidation in hypertension was established. The efficacy of the chemiluminescence method as an alternative to a complex of biochemical methods is shown. Express assessment of pro- and antioxidant status is possible for patients with hypertension.

Parasitic invasions in horses often cause metabolic disorders and have a negative impact on their health and performance. The purpose of this research was to study the processes of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant protection in horse helminthiases, as well as following the deworming with a drug containing the antioxidant santoquine. The intensity of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant protection was determined in horses with different degrees of invasion by concentrations of malondialdehyde and ceruloplasmin accumulated in the blood. The studies have revealed that the concentration of malondialdehyde, the end product of free radical oxidation of cell membrane phospholipids, depends on the intensity of infestation with intestinal nematodes. In horses infested with paraskaris and intestinal strongylata, a significant accumulation of malondialdehyde was by 18.2% higher as compared to uninfected animals. The level of ceruloplasmin was significantly lower – by 21.8% in animals with a moderate degree of invasion as compared to clinically healthy animals. To neutralize free radicals the antioxidant santoquine was used. Effective deworming by means of using santoquine reduced the intensity of lipid peroxidation processes, which resulted in a significant decrease in the concentration of malondialdehyde by 22.1% and an increase in the level of ceruloplasmin against the background of the lower rate of free radical oxidation by 25.8%.

The chemical processes occurring in the animal body under pathological conditions are of interest to researchers. The objective of the research was to study the indicators of lipid peroxidation and antioxidant activity in horses infested with helminthiases and treated with anthelmintic paste with an antioxidant. The study has proved the role of parasitic infestation in accelerating the processes of free radical oxidation, which is manifested by a decrease in the light sum of radicals (36.62-39.21), the maximum luminous intensity (6.13-6.98) and antioxidant activity (5.65-6.2) at the start of the research. Chronic invasion increases the concentration of under-oxidized products up to 38.59, and the rate of initiating free radical oxidation – up to 6.95, the values of antioxidant activity being stably low (5.51-5.91). An important role in the regulation of lipid peroxidation in horses during helminthiases, as well as in the process of deworming, is played by the antioxidants contained in anthelmintic preparations. The antioxidant santohin included as a compound in the «Alezan» preparation suppresses enhanced peroxidation and activates the antioxidant protection of the body, which is reflected in a decrease in the light sum of the radicals to as low as 26.73, a maximum luminous intensity to – 3.76, and an increase in antioxidant activity – up to 7.16.

Objective: to study the main indicators of free radical oxidation and antioxidant protection in the erythrocytes of former athletes, depending on the period of termination of sports.Materials and methods: 24 former male athletes aged 19–29 years were examined, who were divided into 2 groups of 12 people each (1st group — former athletes who stopped training for up to 2 years; 2nd — over 2 years). The control group consisted of 15 practically healthy untrained student volunteers of the same age. In erythrocytes, spectrophotometrically (spectrophotometer Shimadzu 1240, Japan), the activity of antioxidant enzymes was determined: superoxide dismutase (SOD) (K.F. 1.15.1.1) — by inhibiting the reduction of nitro blue tetrazolium by superoxide anion radical at λ = 540 nm, after preliminary processing of erythrocytes by the method of Dubinina E.E. and others [8]; catalase (K.F. 1.11.1.6) — according to the rate of utilization of hydrogen peroxide at λ = 260 nm; glutathione peroxidase (HP) (KF 1.11.1.9) — by the change in the content of reduced glutathione in samples before and after incubation of the substrate with dithiobis-nitrobenzoic acid at λ = 412 nm; glutathione reductase (GR) (K.F. 1.6.4.2) — according to the catalytic NADPH ∙ H+-dependent transformation of the oxidized form of glutathione into the reduced form, the intensity of which was estimated by the rate of decrease in the extinction of samples at λ = 340 nm, at which the NADPH H+ solution has a maximum light absorption (Warburg test).Results: the direction of the shifts in the state of the oxidative balance was established depending on the period of detraining. A significantly lower value of the total antioxidant activity was revealed in the former athletes of the 1st group. This phenomenon is probably associated with a decrease in the efficiency of the enzymatic link of the antioxidant defense in the absence of regular physical exertion, and, as a consequence, an increased consumption of non-enzymatic antioxidants. It was found that the early post-sports period is characterized by significantly lower, in comparison with the control group, the values of the activity of the first-order enzymes (superoxide dismutase) against the background of the increased activity of the second-order enzymes (catalase).Conclusions: the obtained data can be recommended for monitoring the state of athletes who stopped playing sports and taken into account when prescribing rehabilitation measures for the corresponding contingent.

<p>In experiments on rats with modulated hypothyroidism, acute galactosamine hepatitis, acute hepatitis combined<br />with merkazolil-induced hypothyroidism the changes in the indices of free-radical oxidation in blood and liver<br />homogenate were studied. Results of the investigation indicate a pronounced increase of lipid peroxidation products,<br />both in blood and in liver homogenate against the backdrop of exhaustion of the enzymatic and non-enzymatic links<br />antioxidant protection system in animals with hypothyroidism. In case of acute galactosamine hepatitis increase of<br />lipid peroxidation products, both in blood and in liver homogenate against the background of activation units both<br />components of the antioxidant protection system was established. The most significant inhibition of the enzymatic<br />and non-enzymatic links antioxidant protection system suffered rats with acute hepatitis on the background of<br />hypothyroidism. It is concluded that failure revealed a mutual gain reflects the negative impact of acute toxic liver<br />injury and thyroid hormone deficiency.</p>

Any change of external or internal environment causes body’s responses that facilitate its adaptation. Pathogenesis of stress reaction study is always topical as it is aimed at the investigation of optimal adaptation mechanisms to impaired agents. The aim – to study the dynamics of free-radical oxidation indices and antioxidant protection in male rats’ heart undergone chronic prenatal, postnatal stress and their combination. Material and Methods. The study was performed on 44 white non-pedigreed pubertal three-month-rats. Prenatal stress was induced by keeping pregnant female rats in narrow pencil case for an hour. Postnatal stress was induced in 1.5 to three-month- rats by keeping them in cages with living space restriction twice as much. Combined stress comprised using two methods. Contents of peroxide lipids oxidation products and antioxidant protection were determined in the heart. Results. Psycho-emotional stress in three-month-rats causes activation processes of peroxide lipids oxidation and antioxidant protection regardless of stressor’s period action. On the basis of correlations study it was proved that development mechanisms of chronic stress depend on life-period when stress was sustained. Conclusions. Processes of peroxide lipids oxidation in all modelling types of stress are intensified in young male-rats’ heart during the effect of chronic psycho-emotional stress. Activity of enzyme part of antioxidant protection increases simultaneously with the increase of LPO products in the heart. It is more manifested in prenatal and postnatal stress. Intensification of glutathione system action and disturbances of its activity, especially in animals that undergone prenatal stress were also marked.

BACKGROUND: For many years, the world community has been concerned with the problem of the consequences of radiation exposure on the human body. A wide range of possible variants of radiation effects on humans and biota determines the range of necessary pharmacological means of protecting the organism and populations. In the mechanisms of the formation of radioresistance, the leading role is assigned to the processes of lipid peroxidation (LPO) and the antioxidant (AO) system. The study of the effect of such factors as radiation and immobilization stress on the body separately and in combination is relevant since the modern conditions of human habitation are characterized by high urbanization, physical inactivity, and a complex radioecological situation in a number of regions. AIM: The aim of the study was to study the role of free radical oxidation in the tissues of the adrenal glands and immunocompetent organs and cells under the combined effect of a sublethal dose of gamma radiation and immobilization stress in the experiment. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The work was carried out on 40 male Wistar rats: I-control; II-subjected to immobilization stress after 1 h; III-exposed to gamma irradiation; and IV-tested combined effects (immobilization stress and gamma radiation). Before the exposure, there was topometric-dosimetric preparation of the experimental animals. To this end, the object was placed on an isocentric therapeutic desk of Terasix X-ray simulator (Czech Republic), which is similar to the therapeutic desk of the γ-irradiator by its construction and parameters. RESULTS: The results obtained make it possible to assess the role of free radical oxidation under the combined action of ionizing radiation at a sublethal dose and immobilization stress in the experiment. The combined effect was accompanied by the accumulation of diene conjugates and malondialdehyde products in homogenates and the development of double oxidative stress in the test objects. The dominant role of ionizing radiation was revealed under the combined effects of immobilization stress and radiation factor. CONCLUSIONS: In animals of the 4th group, the state of oxidative-metabolic processes was characterized by overproduction of LPO products and subsequently by depression of AO defense. The urgency of continuing research on the combined effects of radiation and stress factors on public health and taking measures to eliminate negative effects on the population seems to be undoubted.

Purpose of the study: to assess the state of lipid peroxidation processes in patients with kidney cancer in relation to the clinical factors of the prognosis of the disease and against the background of surgical intervention.Material and methods. For the study, we used blood plasma samples from 300 patients with kidney cancer T1–4N 0–1M0–1, obtained before surgery and 8–9 days after surgery. Oxidative stress was assessed by the intensity of free radical processes by the method of induced biochemiluminescence on the BKhL-07 biochemiluminometer apparatus (Medozons Co., Russia), the activity of lipid peroxidation processes was assessed by the accumulation of initial products in the blood plasma – diene conjugates (DC), triene conjugates (TC) and fial Schiff bases (OSh) according to I. A. Volchegorsky et al. method. (1989). Statistical processing of the results was carried out using Statistica 12 and Microsoft Offie Excel 2010 programs.Results. In patients with kidney cancer, there was a decrease in the level of DC, an increase in OSh and the ratio of Osh / (DC + TC) compared with the control (p ≤ 0.05), against the background of depletion of the resources of the antioxidant defense system. The content of DC did not differ from the norm with the size of the primary tumor of the kidney pT1–pT2 and decreased (p ≤ 0.05) in the case of the presence of the tumor pT3–pT4. At the same time, there was an increase in the OSh content (p ≤ 0.05). In patients with thrombi in the inferior vena cava system, a decrease in the level of DC was observed (p ≤ 0.05), the OSh level did not differ from that of healthy individuals. In the postoperative period, there was an increase in the content of DC (p ≤ 0.05) and a decrease in the Osh / (DC + TC) coeffiient (p ≤ 0.05) compared with the initial level.Conclusion. Kidney cancer is accompanied by the activation of free radical oxidation processes against the background of depletion of the resources of the antioxidant defense system. Changes in the pro-antioxidant homeostasis are interrelated with the size of the primary tumor and the presence of a tumor thrombus. In the postoperative period, the activity of free radical oxidation processes in the patient’s body decreases.

Aim. To evaluate the level of endogenous intoxication in the blood and the status of the lipid peroxidation processes in eye tissues of experimental animals after acute circulatory arrest. Methods. Chronic (5 weeks) pathophysiological experiments were performed in 72 nonlinear mature male rats, in which acute circulatory arrest was modeled by neurovascular heart bundle compression, followed by resuscitation. Endogenous intoxication intensity was assessed using endogenous intoxication integral index based on the detection of oligopeptides and low and medium molecular weight substances. Free radical oxidation in eye tissues was assessed by determining the level of 2’-thiobarbituric acid-reactive products, as well as by chemiluminescence. The condition of antioxidant system was investigated by catalase activity features and reduced glutathione level. Results. There was a significant two-phased increase of endogenous intoxication index during the whole postoperative period. Fe2+-induced chemiluminescence with subsequent accumulation of lipid peroxidation secondary metabolites, as well as increased activity of catalase protective system both in early stages (days 1-3) and on the second week were revealed in eye tissues. A positive correlation of endogenous intoxication integral index and the level of 2’-thiobarbituric acid-reactive products on the first day after resuscitation was revealed. Conclusion. Endogenous intoxication syndrome is formed after the acute circulatory arrest with maximal levels of endogenous toxins in the systemic circulation on 1-3rd and on 10-14th day after resuscitation, as well as with significant intensification of lipid peroxidation processes in eye tissues at the same period.

In fact, Free radical oxidation is one of the required factors of homeostasis as far as the active forms of oxygen, which have unpaired electron, perform useful functions, they are necessary intermediaries of numerous processes of normal cells’ functioning such as biosynthesis of prostaglandins and leukotriene as well as other biologically active substances. Also, they take part in pathological processes such as: inflammation, fever and others. Free radical oxidation is the process of direct oxygen transferring to the substrate forming peroxide, ketones, aldehydes, etc. Some amino acids, proteins, water and carbohydrates prone to the processes of peroxidation, but crucial place is granted to lipids at the expanse of fatty acids which are included to their composition. The article highlights the information concerning the analysis of the state of antioxidant system of hens in the process of feeding them with subtoxic doses of fungicide of Derosal (BAYER, Germany) (0.1 LD50 for a fowl, 900 mg/kg of the body mass) which active ingredient is benzimidazole carbamate (carbendazim, BMC). It presents the changes of these indicators in the process of using pharmacological and natural antioxidants. The analysis has figured out that giving Derosal to the hens without corrections (II group) has been followed with the activation of the process of lipids’ peroxidation (POL) in the blood plasma, that is followed with the increase of concentration of primary and secondary lipoperoxidation products – diene conjugates (DC) and TBA-active products on the average up to 21.0–25.0 %, catalase activity – up to 38.5 % and decrease of superoxide dismutase activity (SOD) up to 21.8 % and АОА – up to 17.8 %, that shows the adverse effects of pesticides on the system of antioxidant protection of the organism. In the fowls’ groups III, IV and V the adding of antioxidant E-selenium, ascorbic acid and thermally untreated buckwheat seeds as the source of  quercetins and anthocyanins has led to the induction of antioxidant resources that is shown by the decrease in comparison with the control of content of diene conjugates, malonic dialdehyde and catalase (in average up to 13.6–33.6–18.0 % accordingly) and compensatory strengthening of superoxide dismutase activity and general activity of antioxidant (АОА) on the average up to 44.9–72.1–76.5 % and 15.3–13.4–21.7 % accordingly. In comparison with group II the activity of catalase has been lower as well as the activity of superoxide dismutase has been higher in all the groups almost in 1.5–2 times (Р ≤ 0.001).

Recently, interest in the problem of free radical oxidation in biological membranes, which is directly related to both the normal functioning of cells and the occurrence, course and outcome of many pathological conditions, has increased again in clinical medicine. The aim was to determine the role and impact of antioxidant defense in boys with hypoandrogenism. The study involved 75 adolescents with hypoandrogenism aged 13–18 years, who underwent a complex of clinical and laboratory examinations. All patients were conducted complex of anthropometric research and determination of the degree of delayed puberty, laboratory and instrumental examination. Free radical oxidation was determined by the levels of malondialdehyde, conjugated dienes, carbonated proteins, superoxide dismutase and catalase in the serum, and restored glutathione and glutathione peroxidase in whole blood. Based on their determination, the coefficient of oxidative stress was calculated. Statistical processing of results was performed using parametric and nonparametric methods. The study of indicators of the free radical oxidation process found that adolescents with hypoandrogenism have multidirectional changes in the oxidation of proteins and lipids, namely: the level of conjugated dienes increases, the concentration of malondialdehyde remains at the level of the control group, and the level of carbonated proteins tends to decrease. As for the activity of antioxidant protection enzymes, a significant decrease in the level of glutathione peroxidase was detected, while the level of superoxide dismutase and catalase remained at the level of normative indicators. Oxidative stress accompanies and is one of the pathogenetic links in the formation or maintenance of the state of hypoandrogenism in boys. This requires the use of antioxidants, the complex of which must be selected individually.
