Based on social exchange theory, current study examined the impact of transactional leadership on supervisor rated job performance of employees. Moreover, moderating role of work meaningfulness between this linkage is verified. Primary data from 240 faculty members were collected from different private and public sector universities of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore & Sialkot. Simple random sampling technique was used. Data were analyzed using SPSS and Hayes’s PROCESS. Correlations & Regression analysis were applied. The results bolstered the hypothesis of the study. Findings revealed that transactional leadership has a positive impact on job performance of the faculty members. Further, work meaningfulness is proven its moderating role between transactional leadership and job performance. The study will help the managers/leaders in Higher Education Sector to understand the role of transactional leadership and work meaningfulness for improving performance of the faculty members. Purpose This research aims to examine the influence of developmental human resources (HR) practices on management innovation. Drawing on social exchange theory, this paper analyzes the mediating role of responsibility for change and the moderating role of resource availability. Design/methodology/approach The authors conducted a scenario experiment using a sample of 329 part-time MBA students from various Chinese companies in Southwest China, using analysis of variance and regression to examine the hypotheses. Findings The results find a positive relationship between developmental HR practices and management innovation and responsibility for change mediates this relationship. Moreover, it examines the moderating role of resource availability. Resource availability positively moderates the correlation between responsibility for change and management innovation and moderates the mediation effect of responsibility for change on the correlation between developmental HR practices and management innovation. Practical implications Organizations should enhance the actual use of developmental HR practices to ensure the provision of appropriate training and development opportunities for all levels of employees in a fair and equal environment. It is better to take up an individual approach when offering these practices. Organizations should provide enough resources for employees, such as financial, spatial and temporal, and ensure the fair distribution of these resources. Organizations should cultivate the responsibility for change of middle-senior managers who can serve as role models for subordinates. Originality/value This study broadens the research on developmental HR practices, confirming that it has a positive impact on management innovation. It also provides more insight into the “black box” of developmental HR practices affecting management innovation, namely, the mediating effect of responsibility for change. This study shows that resources are critical to understanding how developmental HR practices can contribute to management innovation through responsibility for change. Using social exchange theory, the research deduces the conditional indirect effect of the model and uses a scenario experiment method to conclude causality.

The main objective of this study was to examine the impact of nonfinancial rewards on organizational attractiveness. Drawing on the social exchange theory we develop and empirically test a model to explain the role of nonfinancial rewards, i.e. work-life balance, learning opportunities, and career advancement on organizational attractiveness. Following the quantitative research approach we collected data from 88 undergraduate students from 3 main universities in management in Sri Lanka. To test the model we developed one hypothesis. The results of simple linear regression suggested that nonfinancial rewards had statistically significant effect on generation Y candidates’ organizational attractiveness. This study mainly contributes to enhancing our understanding of the social exchange theory.

AbstractThe purpose of this research is to examine the impact of individual religiosity as well as religiosity support on employee’s organizational commitment. This research is located in two Syariah Banking in Malang, East Java. A quantitative approach was undertaken in this research. The hypotheses were developed heavily based on Social Exchange Theory. The main finding of this research provides support to the theory, that is religiosity support (as a form of positive behaviour, managed by the organizations) has a significant impact in increasing employees’ organizational commitment

The existence of the Covid-19 pandemic is able to change the organizational system that is already running normally. These changes have a profound impact on the human resources of the organization for security reasons. Not all organizations are ready to accept these changes, so there needs to be a special system that is used to keep the organization running normally. With reference to the development of social exchange theory, that training can improve the abilities of employees and the positive results will return to the organization. In this case there is a social exchange between the organization and its human resources. The impact of covid-19 is also felt at the tertiary level in Indonesia. The method used is the preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages. The participants of this training are all lecturers of STIE Widya Gama Lumajang, East Java. The training results show that there is an increase in ability before and after training. Organizations are not worried about changes in the method of the online learning system that has been established.

Abstract Background Job performance is an important organizational factor that plays a significant role in the success of organizations. This study aims to investigate the moderating role of entrepreneurial behavior in the relationship between social capital and job performance among faculty members of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences. Methods This is a descriptive-analytical study which has been conducted through a structural equation modeling among all university faculty members working in different faculties of Qazvin University of Medical Sciences in 2017. To evaluate the causal relationships between study variables, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) on AMOS software, with the significant level of 0.05 was used. Results Findings indicated that entrepreneurial behaviors and social capital could predict job performance. The direct effect of social capital on job performance (path coefficient: 0.17) and its indirect effect with the moderating role of entrepreneurial behavior (path coefficient: 0.39) were confirmed (P< 0.05). Furthermore, Sobel test affirmed the indirect associations between variables (P< 0.05). Conclusions Strengthening social capital and promoting entrepreneurial behavior can lead to higher levels of performance. Building trust among organizational members and designing new incentive methods which use entrepreneurial indicators for performance evaluation can improve social capital. Therefore, managers can contribute to the improvement of job performance through developing entrepreneurial behavior among their employees.

This study investigated the impact of training and development and supervisors support on employees retention. Furthermore, the current study also investigates the moderating effect of the work environment on the relationship between training and development, supervisors support, and employees’ retention. A survey was undertaken to collect data from 250 faculty members working in public sector universities in Pakistan. PLS path modeling was employed to analyze the data. The results revealed that training and development and the support of the supervisors had a significant relationship with the retention of employees. Similarly, the results also revealed that the work environment moderated the relationship between training and development, supervisors support, and employees’ retention. Finally, the implications, limitations and recommendations for further research were discussed.

The purposes of this study are: (1) examine the impact of organizationalcommitment to job performance of faculty member in Surakarta; (2) examine the impact of Islamic work ethic to job performance; and (3) examine the moderation role of institutional-base on the impact of Islamic work ethic to job performance. The results show that organizational commitment and Islamic work ethic had significance effect to job performance, but institutional-based had no moderating role in the effect of Islamic work ethic to job performance
