Occupational safety and health  is an important issue in an operational process, both in traditional and modern sectors. Prevention of work accidents can be done by knowing the risks that exist in a process, one of them is through Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) methods. In the batik industry, batik makers come into direct contact with materials containing hazardous chemicals and uncomfortable work positions. In addition, the craftsmen also do not care for the environment and do not use personal protective equipment. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors of occupational safety and health. The nationwide opioid crisis continues to affect not only people who use opioids but also communities at large by increasing the risk of accidental occupational exposure to illicit opioids. In addition, the emergence of highly potent synthetic opioids such as fentanyl and carfentanil increases the need to protect workers who may encounter unknown drug substances during job activities. To support the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Opioids Research Gaps Working Group, we examined the state of the literature concerning methods to protect workers against accidental occupational exposure to illicit opioids, and have identified unmet research needs concerning personal protective equipment, decontamination methods, and engineering controls. Additional studies are needed to overcome gaps in technical knowledge about personal protective equipment, decontamination, and control methods, and gaps in understanding how these measures are utilized by workers. Increasing our knowledge of how to protect against exposure to illicit opioids has the potential to improve occupational health across communities.

The work accidents and occupational diseases are very important especially in the industrializing countries. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO) every 15 seconds, a worker dies from a work-related accident or disease. Every 15 seconds, 160 workers have a work-related accident. Every day, 6.300 people die as a result of occupational accidents or work-related diseases–more than 2,3 million deaths per year. The economic burden of poor occupational safety and health practices is estimated at 4 per cent of global Gross Domestic Product each year. In Turkey, work accidents’ figures are very high but occupational diseases’ figures are not very high. There are several causes of this condition. In Turkey, the Work Accidents, Occupational Diseases and Maternity Act No. 4772 was accepted in 1947. The Social Security and General Health Insurance Act No.5510 was accepted in 2006. There are regulations about the work accident and occupational disease insurance in the Act. According to the Act, insured and the rights holders can obtain some assistance.
