The Integration of Islamic Sciences in the Perspective of M. Amin Abdullah. Criticism on the pattern of Islamic sciences development in Indonesia, especially at the level of Islamic religious higher education, has caught the attension of many critiques. This essay tries to analytically describe M. Amin Abdullah’s thought who promotes the concept of Islamic sciences integration. The writer maintains that Islamic sciences thus far, have still fragmentary in nature and have not yet interconnected with contemporary issues. As such, it is required to build the epistemology of integrated and interconnected science. The writer finds that theo-anthropocentric-integralistic epistemology of science of Amin Abdullah is developed against the backdrop of classification of science. His theory departs from the Qur’an and Sunnah, ‘Ulûm al-Dîn, al-Fikr al-Islâmy, and Dirâsah al-Islâmiyyah. Those categories of Islamic sciences are drawn by Amin Abdullah into four-layered concept mapping of spider web. Such epistemology combines all disciplines of social and religious sciences vis a vis contemporary issues.</p><p><br />Kata Kunci: filsafat ilmu, integrasi ilmu, kajian keislaman, M. Today, many students are moving towards higher education courses that do not suit them and end up failing. The purpose of this study is to help provide counselors with better knowledge so that they can offer future students courses corresponding to their profile. The second objective is to allow the teaching staff to propose training courses adapted to students by anticipating their possible difficulties. This is possible thanks to a machine learning algorithm called Random Forest, allowing for the classification of the students depending on their results. We had to process data, generate models using our algorithm, and cross the results obtained to have a better final prediction. We tested our method on different use cases, from two classes to five classes. These sets of classes represent the different intervals with an average ranging from 0 to 20. Thus, an accuracy of 75% was achieved with a set of five classes and up to 85% for sets of two and three classes.

The wide application of artificial intelligence technology in various fields has accelerated the pace of people exploring the hidden information behind large amounts of data. People hope to use data mining methods to conduct effective research on higher education management, and decision tree classification algorithm as a data analysis method in data mining technology, high-precision classification accuracy, intuitive decision results, and high generalization ability make it become a more ideal method of higher education management. Aiming at the sensitivity of data processing and decision tree classification to noisy data, this paper proposes corresponding improvements, and proposes a variable precision rough set attribute selection standard based on scale function, which considers both the weighted approximation accuracy and attribute value of the attribute. The number improves the anti-interference ability of noise data, reduces the bias in attribute selection, and improves the classification accuracy. At the same time, the suppression factor threshold, support and confidence are introduced in the tree pre-pruning process, which simplifies the tree structure. The comparative experiments on standard data sets show that the improved algorithm proposed in this paper is better than other decision tree algorithms and can effectively realize the differentiated classification of higher education management.

© 2020, Akadémiai Kiadó, Budapest, Hungary. This work deals with the journals in the area of Education classified in the last available Brazilian Qualis database, period 2013–2016, seeking to analyze the alignment of the strata to international bibliometric criteria. The impact of a journal implies its internationalization, which is a standard adopted worldwide. This subject has been gaining prominence in higher education and research institutions, which began to consider the production of their researchers in indexed journals.Considering the national and international relevance and the fact that they aggregate publications from various fields, we used data from the Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases. The results show that belonging to the most relevant international bases is not among the Capes requirements for the classification of journals, and also that there is a relatively low number of journals with a real impact for scientific dissemination in the field of Education. The conclusions indicate that, in the current scenario, researchers in this field will continue to publish their work in journals with little or no impact, making the output of Brazilian research remain without prominence at an international level. To ensure that the Qualis stratification in the field of Education does not distance itself from the international context, it is necessary to adopt criteria that privilege factors such as adherence to WoS and Scopus, especially for the A1 and A2 journals, considered of highest quality.

Pathophysiology at NOVA Medical School adopted the concept mapping methodology to promote the visual display of pathophysiological reasoning and learning, based on clinical vignettes. The objective of this project is to identify and label the linking words, in order to study their role in the structure and organization of the concept maps constructed by the students. We used an adopted classification of linking words, categorized in 5 groups: dynamic, static, illustrative, definition and clinical case information. At the end of the semester the concept maps related to the respiratory (mid-semester) and endocrine systems (end of semester) were analyzed and compared. We found linking words not included in any of the five categories, thus a group named “other” has been created. Statistically significant differences were found in dynamic and “other” categories (p=0,049 and p= 0,011, respectively; Wilcoxon signed-rank test). The dynamic words were the most commonly used, probably reflecting students’ need to better describe pathophysiological mechanisms, and the difference found was probably due an improvement in the learning process and concept maps building technic. It would be interesting next year to conduct a more detailed analysis, increasing the sample and ensuring a more robust dataset.

Scientific articles are scientific articles in the form of reviews and research to be published in reputable scientific articles. This is one of the main things that becomes a reference for students in higher education during their studies and at the end of their studies. then the problem that must be faced is how to classify the factor of low student interest and being able to increase student interest in writing scientific articles. The factors of low student interest in writing scientific articles are the level of understanding, motivation, difficulty level, time, and infrastructure. The data used comes from questionnaire data from students of the 2016 batch of information systems study program. It has been obtained that the factor classification of the low interest of students in writing scientific articles is the factor that has top priority on the factor of low student interest is the infrastructure. The results showed that the C4.5 Decision Tree Algorithm was accurate for classifying the factors of low student interest in writing scientific articles with an accuracy rate of 100%.

The contemporary colonial world is witnessing struggles for domination and existence that have led to exclusion of some groups on the basis of parameters defined by the powerful. This contribution observes practices and policies of belonging and exclusion developing in Zimbabwe and argues that higher education should take the lead in discussing and proposing citizenship education that would produce cosmopolitan patriots, responsible and tolerant citizens. The discussion is a critical discourse analysis of dominant colonial forces of authoritarian nationalism and neoliberalism supplemented by personal experience and engagement with students and faculty at the Great Zimbabwe University. What has been observed is the failure of civil society and state led programmes in this endeavour and the honours rests with higher education institutions to develop citizenship education rooted in ideals that critique hegemonic discourses. This demands a change in perspectival foci and this study advances the adoption of anti-colonial liberationist perspectives as one of the options if an end to classification of citizens as aliens and patriots is to come to an end.
