One of the major causes of cancer-related mortality worldwide is lung tumors. An earlier prediction of lung tumors is crucial since it may severely increase the death rates. For this reason, genomic profiles have been considered in many advanced microarray technology schemes. Amongst, an Improved Dragonfly optimization Algorithm (IDA) with Boosted Weighted Optimized Neural Network Ensemble Classification (BWONNEC) has been developed which extracts most suitable features and fine-tunes the weights related to the ensemble neural network classifiers. But, its major limitations are the number of learning factors in neural network and computational difficulty. Therefore in this article, a Boosted Weighted Optimized Convolutional Neural Network Ensemble Classification (BWOCNNEC) algorithm is proposed to lessen the number of learning factors and computation cost of neural network. In this algorithm, the boosting weights are combined into the CNN depending on the least square fitness value. Then, the novel weight values are assigned to the features extracted by the IDA. Moreover, these weight values and the chosen features are processed in different CNN structures within the boosted classifier. Further, the best CNN structure in each iteration i.e., CNNs having the least weighted loss is selected and ensemble to predict and diagnose the lung tumors effectively. Finally, the investigational outcomes exhibit that the IDA-BWOCNNEC achieves better prediction efficiency than the existing algorithms.

Novel Coronavirus leads all the educational institutions to think of e-learning platforms to continue the education. E-learning tools are playing a crucial role during this pandemic, it aims to help instructors, and universities facilitate student learning during periods of university closure. The study attempts to examine the influence of e-learning factors on student’s learning focusing on teacher, content, technology, student. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data from 249 bachelor students through a web-based survey at Arab Open University and was analyzed with various statistical tools which can be used to test the relationship between the variables. However, it was revealed that teachers, content, technology, and students play a significant role in the e-learning system. Through a stepwise multiple regression model, it was revealed that e-learning plays a significant role in knowledge enhancement and student learning. Further noted that gender, mode of study, program of study has a significant effect on e-learning factors. Students were exposed to the e-learning system and feel more confident and comfortable while working on it. It is therefore recommended that an e-learning environment can increase the learning potential of the students. e-learning is a good solution during this pandemic situation. Students should be motivated and satisfied with the instructor's support and course policies tend to perceive their learning outcomes higher. Both teachers and students have had to re-adapt the way they prepare, access, and engage with e-learning environment. Even though there are few challenges in adopting e-learning technologies, the educational institutions are supporting in all possible ways and provide an uninterpreted education to all the student community

PurposeWidespread concerns about excessive use of mobile instant messaging (MIM) have inspired research in different disciplines. However, the focus thus far tends to be on diagnostics and cognitive predictors. There is little understanding from the socio-technical perspective to capture the drivers of excessive use of MIM. To address this research gap, the authors aim to enrich existing literature by adopting a social structure and social learning model (SSSLM) to understand the excessive use of MIM. The authors argue that excessive MIM use is developed and reinforced in highly interactive online communication, through a social learning process.Design/methodology/approachThe authors conduct a cross-sectional online survey to validate our proposed research model on excessive use of mobile instant messaging (MIM). 368 valid responses are obtained from active MIM users in China.FindingsThe results suggest that highly interactive MIM creates a technology-based social structure that facilitates the social learning process of excessive technology use. The influence of perceived interactivity of MIM on excessive MIM use is mediated by a series of contextualized social learning factors. Furthermore, the influences of perceived interactivity on social learning factors are moderated by MIM use experience.Originality/valueThe authors contribute to literature in related fields by highlighting the crucial role of social learning in facilitating excessive technology use. The authors contribute to the social structure and social learning model by contextualizing it into the context of excessive MIM use. Design guidelines are provided with a purpose to inhibit excessive use of MIM.

The concept of e-learning offers a number of benefits, however, the effective adoption of e-learning systems at HEIs is a relatively new concept and thus a challenging task. The comprehensive review of extant literature on the topic of adoption of e-learning systems at HEIs is provided. Using PRISMA search technique, relevant articles published from 2005 to 2020 owing to the widespread adoption of e-learning since 2005 were selected. The paper identifies and puts forward the level of compatibility and readiness of students and teachers in adopting e-learning, factors that motivate and hinder the adoption of e-learning respectively, benefits of adopting an e-learning system, and the strategies for the effective implementation of e-learning at the higher education institutions. In this realm of COVID-19 and e-learning, this paper also envisage different strategies, policies and recommendations for implementing e-learning in an effective way at HEIs.

This paper is set out to explore the students’ attitudes towards online learning effectiveness using the Blackboard platform in three public Saudi universities (Taibah, Hail, and Al-Baha) during COVID 19 pandemic. It examines the learning activities which ensure the achievement of education quality during unprecedented online learning. The survey based- questionnaire method was used to elicit students’ responses. The numbers of students who participated in the survey are 333. The main section of the questionnaire contains questions about the main online learning activities. The coefficient relation of the p-value is highly correlated when tested using Pearson’s r and Spearman’s. The score of Cronbach’s Alpha is (0.93) which indicates (greater internal consistency) an acceptable level of reliability. The findings positively emphasize the effective influence of online learning on student’s academic achievements in most of learning factors except in an assessment factor where the development of new assessment methods is needed.
