This year is the centenary of the death of the Russian publicist and religious thinker V.V. Rozanov. And this year also follows the year of the 110th anniversary of the great Soviet writer, philosopher and futurist I.A. Efremov. The first figure ended the era, gathering and absorbing all the rushing about, as well as political and spiritual conflicts of the Russian intelligentsia in the time of the outgoing monarchy. The latter was born at the beginning of the new era and proclaimed the images of the great future. It’s an interesting question whether they, like the images of their corresponding eras, differ immensely, and we could say that they are split and unrelated. Or if the images of the later epoch are the continuation of the former ones, overcoming the deadlocks of the old era and solving its conflicts. Did the intellectuals of the Soviet era discard the problems of the tsarist intellectuals or, on the contrary, did they manage to offer advanced answers? The philosophy of V.V. Rozanov, so original and not fully explored to this day, could not but be reflected in the works of his successors and heirs. Revealing similar trends of philosophical thought in the legacy of the Soviet period, the author of the article comes to the conclusion that a number of analogous issues were investigated also by I. A. Efremov.

In a literary heritage with a developed tradition of genres, works whose main purpose is to attract the attention of readers to a selected geographical location, are of particular culture-historical and culture-geographical interest. The most widespread in this respect is travel literature, which is usually written by travellers and consist of impressions portrayed in prose after visits to foreign lands. Another type of literary depiction with an expressed poetic orientation, but a similar goal, is characteristic of dedicatory poetry. The author’s position is usually saturated with emotional expressiveness as well as the artistry of symbols, encouraging the reader or listener to feel the formation of a spontaneous attitude. It is possible to gain confidence in the engagement of the author of the poetry as an individual in the depicted cultural-geographical environment, which can be conceptually expressed by words or pairs of words ‘resident’, ‘native place’, ‘patriot’. With regard to the devotional depictions on the Latvian urban environment, one of the earliest examples known in the history of literature is the dedicatory poem in German by Christian Bornmann to the town Jelgava with its ancient name (Mitau, 1686/1802). The name of Liepāja town in this tradition of the genre has become an embodiment later – in the poetry selection in German, also using the ancient name of the town (Libausche Dichtungen, 1853), but in terms of contemporary literary practice with Imants Kalniņš’ music, there is a convincing dominance of songs with words of poetry. The aim of the article is, looking at the poetry devoted to Liepāja in the 19th century and at the turn of the 20th/21st century in the comparative aspect, to present textually thematic peculiarities as well as to provide the analytical interpretative summary of those.

Translation played a central role in the life of Eileen Chang (Zhang Ailing, 1920-95). One of the most iconic figures in twentieth-century Chinese literature, Chang also wrote extensively in English throughout her career, which began in the early 1940s in Japanese-occupied Shanghai. She achieved fame quickly but fell into obscurity after the war ended in 1945. Chang stayed in Shanghai through the 1949 Communist revolution and in 1952 moved to Hong Kong, where she worked as a freelance translator and writer for the United States Information Service and wrote two anti-Communist novels in English and Chinese, The Rice-Sprout Song (1955) and Naked Earth (1956).

This article deals with the study of the structural and semantic features of tactile verbs (hereinafter TVs) in English, German and Russian. Particular attention is paid to the comparative study of TVs, which allows us to identify structural and semantic similarities and differences of linguistic units studied. The structural and semantic classification of TVs in the compared languages is also provided.

Lactose-free dairy products play a significant role in the diet of people with lactose intolerance, as they are a source of prombiotics and highly nutrients that are readily available, are in balanced proportions and do not contain milk sugar (lactose). In the manufacture of lactose-free dairy products in the technological scheme provides for the extraction of milk sugar (lactose), which can lead to deterioration of their sensory and physicochemical properties. The aim of this work was to study the comparative aspect of biotechnological features of yogurts made by traditional and lactose-free technologies and to evaluate their organoleptic and physicochemical properties. The object of the study were organic drinking yogurt with "blueberry" filler (with probiotic) 2.5 % and lactose-free organic yogurt (with probiotic) 2.5 %. According to the results of research, organic drinking yogurt with "blueberry" filler (with probiotic) 2.5 % in taste was sour milk, without foreign tastes and odors moderately sweet, with a pronounced taste of "blueberry" filler, consistency - homogeneous, tender, dense, without gas formation, with particles of fresh blueberries, which are distributed throughout the mass of yogurt, color - with a shade that is characteristic of blueberries. Organic lactose-free yogurt (with probiotic) 2.5 % had a sour taste, sour milk, without foreign tastes and odors, color - white. According to the results of physico-chemical studies of experimental samples of organic drinking yogurt with "blueberry" filler and lactose-free organic yogurt, the titratable acidity was 80 and 85 oT, active acidity 4.7 and 4.5, respectively. The mass fraction of carbohydrates in drinking yogurt with "blueberry" filler was 9.8 g / 100 g at 4.4 g / 100 g in lactose-free yogurt, including sugar 5.8 and 0 g / 100 g, respectively. Energy value and caloric content was higher in the sample of yogurt with "blueberry" filling. The conditional viscosity of the test samples was 1 min 30 sec. and 59 sec. in accordance. The degree of syneresis in the experimental samples of organic drinking yogurt with the filler "blueberry" and lactose-free organic yogurt was 55 and 45 % moisture content - 44.07 and 39.49 %, respectively.

Aim. To study the activity of myeloperoxidase in the peripheral blood of pregnant women in normal and thyroid diseases. Materials and methods. Cytochemical analysis was used to study the activity of myeloperoxidase in peripheral blood neutrophils of pregnant women with diffuse toxic goiter, as well as in women with the physiological course of pregnancy in a comparative aspect. Results. It was found that in women with a physiological course of pregnancy, the cytochemical parameters of myeloperoxidase in neutrophils were reduced only in the 1st trimester of pregnancy. In patients with diffuse toxic goiter, with severe thyrotoxicosis syndrome, the activity of the enzyme was significantly reduced during all periods of pregnancy. Apparently, these shifts of the enzyme, which is the main component of the protective system of blood phagocytes, are associated with their functional stress. Conclusion. Based on this opinion, it seems that blood neutrophils enter the system of thyroid hormone metabolism by their degradation. Apparently, this mechanism is activated with an increased content of hormones in the circulation, which occurs during pregnancy, and especially with concomitant diffuse toxic goiter with thyrotoxicosis syndrome and is aimed at preserving homeostasis necessary for normal fetal development.

A new approach of oxidation of carbon nanotubes has been used to oxidize the CNTs. A comparative aspect of the mechanical oxidation and acid oxidation process has been established. FTIR analysis and titration method have shown the higher feasibility of the mechanical oxidation method to oxidize the CNTs. Comparatively less damage to the CNTs has been observed in case of mechanically oxidized as compared to acid oxidized CNTs. The mechanical properties of the nanocomposites reinforced with the acid oxidized CNT (ACNT) and mechanically oxidized CNTs (McCNT) were analyzed and relatively higher properties in the nanocomposites reinforced with McCNT were noticed. The less degree of entanglement in the McCNTs was noticed as compared to ACNTs. The dynamic mechanical analysis of the nanocomposites revealed much improved load transfer capability in the McCNT reinforced composites. Further, the rheological properties of the nanocomposites revealed the higher performance of McCNT reinforced composites.
