Abstract.,The paper aims to discuss the shading player called “network” of the globalized Islam behind formal Islamic educational institutions. Globalized Islam as Olivier Roy defines is an idea or movement that detach Islam from its geography or cultural territories. Examining alumnae of pesantren Gontor and their position over the contemporary discourse of Islam in Indonesia, the author found that networking with globalized Islam groups has strong influence on their world views. The mutual relationship between Gontor and globalized Islam networks has some impacts on its alumnae. Its exposure to more global Muslim world has prepared its alumnae embrace the globalized Islam identity.  More decisive factors are their networks during higher education period out of pesantren. The author uses life experiences as a student and alumni of Gontor as his main research data as well as social network observation. This paper moreover strengthened the existing previous researches that the globalization of Wahabism starting in the 1980s has been very effective in Indonesia. By penetrating the Islamic education institution networks, it has opened doors for more influence on the general mass of Indonesian Muslims key words: globalized Islam, pesantren, Gontor Abstrak., Artikel ini mendiskusikan fenomena “Global Islam” salah satu sumber ideologi radikal di Indonesia.

Likewise, the accommodative and cooperative attitude displayed by some Indonesian Muslim leaders and Islamic community organizations has contributed to the government's belief that advancing Islamic educational institutions is not something that is scary but will add stability to the condition of government and politics in Indonesia. It is at this stage that the reform of Islamic education is ultimately integrated into the national education system.

With social network sites growing in popularity, many organisations, including educational institutions, are starting to use this new platform to market themselves. However, marketing on social network sites is different from traditional marketing. Its value lies in engaging members of the social network and generating shared cultural meaning of the advertised brand rather than promoting awareness of the brand to a large number of people. As marketing on social network sites remains in its infancy and educational institutions are only beginning to understand that it is different from traditional marketing, it is not clear as to how educational institutions can leverage social network sites for their marketing effort. Using a case study on the use of Facebook as a marketing tool by a private educational institution offering degree programmes in Hong Kong, this chapter proposes a framework for marketing higher educational institutions on social network sites. The model suggests that educational institutions should encourage the participation of students on social network sites and engage the students through activities. The activities and participation of students on social network sites not only provide positive reinforcement of the decision to enroll in the education institution but also provide information to prospective students when they are evaluating the alternatives in the choice of an educational institution. In addition, the model also proposes that social network sites should facilitate the decision to enroll in the education institution by providing support in the application process.

This article aimed to explain how to civilized transformational leadership in Islamic educational institutions. Discussions about transformational leadership have recently become lively to be discussed at the Islamic Education Institution (LPI). This is because Islamic educational institutions have prophetic religious spirits that are considered appropriate to be developed at LPI. Bernard Bass's transformational leadership theory becomes the main theoretical framework. The characteristics and goals of transformational leadership are in line with the conception of prophetic leadership in Islam. Therefore, to cultivate transformative leadership in LPI, it needs to be preceded by the creation of an organizational culture that implements prophetic values. Then to realize it can use three civilizing models, namely; structural models, formal models and mechanical models.
