The purpose of the research is to find out the types of error which made by the ninth graders in writing descriptive text using simple present tense at SMPIT Nurul Ihsan. The number of the students is 27 students. This research uses qualitative descriptive as the approach. The researcher directly did the survey and conducted a written test to the students write English descriptive text. The result of the study shows that there are 77 errors from all students’ compositions. The most error made is misformation with the percentage 49,35%. Followed misordering with the percentage 20,78%, then addition with the percentage 18,18%, and the least error made is omission with the percentage is 11,69%. Most students made wrong sentence in misformation category. The cause of that is the interference from mother language or L1. It makes them influenced the way they think about the language they are learning. When they compose a text in English, they follow the rule of L2. Consequently, they should be guided more so that they could understand about simple present tense.

in the recount text. Students errors were analyzed using errors analysis. This research used qualitative descriptive method as the research methodology. The data would be presented descriptively and the result was in explanation of words form which would be following by data presented in form of tables. The errors made by female there are 12 errors of omission, 13 errors in addition, 21 errors in misformation and 1 errors in misordering. while the errors are made by male there are 5 errors of omission, 5 errors in addition, 27 errors in misformation and 1 errors in misordering. The instrument in this research was a test item created by students. From this research it can be deduced that the most mistakes made by female and male are errors in the way of misformation because students lack understanding of how to make stories in the writing recount text. Keywords:  Writing, Error Analysis, Recount text.

One of English skills which is important to be mastered by the students’ is writing skill. Writing is a creative and expressive process. Students need to explore their ideas and compose into a good text. The objectives of this research is to find out types of error and the most dominant error writing using simple present tenses in a descriptive text made by the seventh grade students of MTs Asih Putera. The research design is qualitative design. The data were gathered from students’ test as a document analysis. Then, the researcher analyzed, classifying errors the students’ work based on types of errors by Dulay (1982). For calcuting the data, the researcher used one formula to know percentages errors. The result of this research, showed that there are 73 items of errors which occur in students’ sentence. It is found that 42 items or 57,53% errors are omission, 10 items or 13,70% are addition, 16 items or 21,92% are misformation, and 5 items or 6,85% are disordering. The conclusion based on the research result data, most student were made error in using simple present tense in a descriptive text, especially was ommision errors.

ABSTRACT  This research is to find out the types of error analysis found in the Students’ Writing Composition in the aspect of grammar, punctuation and spelling also is to find out the most dominant kind of error analysis found in Students’ Writing Composition in Simple Present Tense form. This study applies the quantitative and qualitative methods. This study used documentation as a method of collecting data. From the analysis of this research, it shows that the students’ error in writing composition of simple present tense consists of three aspects of writing, they are they are in grammar, punctuation and spelling. In the aspect of grammar, there are 66 data or 56.89 %, which consist of some errors in class words (part of speech) such as in in verb (25 data or 37.88 %), determiner/article (16 data or 24.24 %), preposition (15 data or 13.64 %), noun (9 data or 13.64 %) and pronoun (1 data or 1.51 %). In punctuation, there are 28 data or 28.14 %, while in spelling there are 22 data or 18.97 %.

This research aimed to analyse the errors in using simple present tense. Descriptive qualitataive approach was used in this reserch. The subject of this research was 37 management students of Economic Faculty  Muslim Nusantara Al Washliyah University  Medan. The data were the sudents’  answer test.  This research was analysed by Surface strategy taxonomy proposed by Dulay et al. The results of the research showed that there are four types of students’ errors in using simple present tense. These errors are categorized into omissions, additions, misinformation, and misordering. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of the ability to write descriptive text. This research was conducted at the University of PGRI Yogyakarta and specifically investigated how simple present tense is used and which errors are most often done by research subjects.The subjects of this study were 8 4th-semester students majoring in English Education at PGRI University of Yogyakarta. Researcher used qualitative descriptive method in this study. The first step taken by researcher was to gave students three themes, namely Family, My Idol & Beautiful Place in Yogyakarta. After that students choose one of these themes and then wrote it into descriptive text. By using the Surface Strategy Taxonomy, researcher then classify what errors they have made.The results of this study indicate that students made 33 errors (47.14%) from 70 Present Present Tense sentences. This was less than the correct use of Simple Present Tense, with a total of 37 (52.86%). Students made the most error in misformation by 13 (39.39%). Whereas the most rarely made error is addition with a total of 2 (6.07%).

This research method used a case study method. The subject of this included the Seventh Grade Students of SMP Katolik Trisakti 1 Medan. Which is comprised of 30 stusents. In analysis the datan the writer collected the data from the students identifiedthe grammatical errors, classified the errors of using simple present tense in the students’ descriptive paragraph to determine the frequency of errors, and calculated the data into percentages. The data by using formula:P= fnx100%  P= Percentage, F= Frequency of error made, N= Total of students’ errors.the data was taken from the test: it was written test. The result demonstrate that the students’ errors can be categorized into four kinds of errors. Which include 14,7% errors of omission, 6,7% errors of additon, 73,3% errors in misformation and 5% error in misordering. The writer observed 218 total errors. The witer concluded that misformation was the dominant kind of errors Made by the Seventh Grade of SMP Katolik Trisakti 1 Medan. The teacher recommended practicing grammatical rules in Simple Present Tense in order to minimize the errors. Morever, other researchers can provide techniques in increase students’ mastery of simple present tense.

The objectives of this research are to find out the kinds of errors and the dominant error at the first grade students of SMP Swasta Kartika 1-2 Medan in constructing negative and interrogative sentences by using simple present tense in academic year 2019/2020. This research is a qualitative research with a descriptive method. The sample of this research were the first grade students of SMP Swasta Kartika 1-2 Medan with 28 students in VII-3s’ class. The data were gathered by using written test which consisted of 20 questions and were analysed by the researchers with identify each error that made by the students. The findings showed there were 197 (35,55%) case of errors on misformation as a type of dominant; 177 (31,94%) case of errors on omission; 165 (29,78%) case of errors on addition; and 15 (2,70%) case of errors on misordering. In conclusion there were 4 kinds of errors, namely: omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. Where error of misformation was type of dominant errors. La escritura cancela las condiciones fácticas de la enunciación y crea, de este modo, un ámbito de sentido estable en el que se puede validar una concepción de la subjetividad que está implicada en las dos estrategias de lecturas (el análisis estructural y la apropiación), esto es, un sujeto pasivo que se constituye por la idealidad del significado. The study aims to describe  about abstinence forbids of Belantik Malay community and to obtain  to  know  meaning  and  value  that  contained  in  the  abstinence  forbids.  The  writer found that there were twenty three abstinence forbids of the Belantik Malay community. By applying qualitative descriptive method, it is obtained that the abstinence forbids observed in Belantik Malay contain in terms of the religion, education, custom, and health. In fact, the  abstinence  forbids  had  a  magic  power  that  used  as  a  guidance  the  way  of  life  of Belantik Malay community. They believe that they will get side effects if they disobey them individually and in their group.AbstrakPenelitian  ini  bertujuan    untuk  mendeskripsikan  ungkapan  pantang  larang  dalam masyarakat  Melayu  Belantik.  Selain  itu,  tulisan  ini  juga  bertujuan  untuk  mengetahui makna  dan  nilai  yang  terkandung  dalam  ungkapan  pantang  larang  tersebut.  Penulis menemukan terdapat  dua  puluh  tiga  ungkapan  pantang  larang  dalam masyarakat Melayu Belantik. Melalui metode  deskriptif  kualitatif  tergambar  bahwa  ungkapan  pantang  larang dalam  masyarakat  Melayu  Belantik mengandung  nilai  agama,  pendidikan,  adat,  dan kesehatan.  Ungkapan  pantang  larang  memiliki  “kekuatan  (gaib/ajaib)”  sebagai  penuntun hidup  dan  pedoman  bagi  masyarakat  Melayu  Belantik.  Masyarakat  Melayu  Belantik percaya bahwa peristiwa tersebut apabila mereka langgar atau abaikan akan berakibat bagi kehidupan pribadi atau bahkan masyarakatnya.

<p><em>Media bias will always be an interesting topic to be examined. Media plays some important roles in society. One of its roles is building public opinions. In this case, media has been assumed to be biased as it might take some advantages from its position. This study aims at investigating The Jakarta Post’s bias towards the environmental preservation issues (an ecolinguistic study). The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive method by applying Van Dijk’s model of critical discourse analysis. This research model does not only analyze the aspect of text structure but also social cognition and social context. The object for this study is the news texts taken from The Jakarta Post Online. The result of the study showed that The Jakarta Post showed its bias towards environmental preservation issues by positioning itself as a pro’s side . In the text structure level, its bias can be identified with the way it chose the theme, topics, schemes and lexical choices which were in accordance with environmental ethics principles. In the social cognition level, its bias can be identified with the nature of the knowledge involved in showing its position in accordance with environmental preservation mission. In the social context level, its bias can be identified with the social values reflected from the news and certain group domination involved in the Jakarta Post’s news report which was in accordance with pro-environmental preservation. Generally, The Jakarta Post showed its progressive attitude or tendency to the change by intensely discussing environmental issues which implied the ideas of improving the way people should preserve their environment.</em></p><p> </p><p><em>Keberpihakan media akan selalu menjadi bahan yang menarik untuk diteliti. Media memainkan peran penting dalam masyarakat. Salah satu peran media adalah membangun opini publik. Dalam hal ini, media telah diasumsikan memiliki keberpihakan karena media dapat mengambil keuntungan dari posisinya tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat keberpihakan The Jakarta Post terhadap isu pelestarian lingkungan hidup (sebuah kajian ekolinguistik). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan analisis wacana kritis model Van Dijk. Model penelitian ini tidak hanya menganalisis aspek struktur teks, melainkan juga kognisi sosial dan konteks sosial. Objek penelitian ini adalah teks berita yang diambil dari media berita online The Jakarta Post. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa The Jakarta Post menunjukkan keberpihakannya terhadap isu pelestarian lingkungan hidup dengan meposisikan dirinya sebagai pihak yang mendukung. Dalam tataran struktur teks, keberpihakannya dapat diidentifikasi dari tema, topik, skema wacana dan pilihan kata yang digunakan yang sesuai dengan prinsip-prinsip etika lingkungan. Dalam tataran kognisi sosial, keberpihakannya dapat diidentifikasi dari sifat pengetahuan yang dilibatkan yang menunjukkan posisinya yang sejalan dengan misi pelestarian lingkungan hidup. Dalam tataran konteks sosial, keberpihakannya dapat diidentifikasi dari nilai-nilai sosial yang tercermin dari berita dan dominasi kelompok yang dilibatkan dalam pelaporan berita yang ditulis The Jakarta Post yang berada pada posisi pro-pelestarian lingkungan hidup. Secara umum, The Jakarta Post menunjukkan sikap progresif atau cenderung kepada perubahan dengan mengulas secara intens isu-isu pelestarian lingkungan hidup yang secara tersirat menyarankan perlu adanya peningkatan terhadap upaya-upaya pelestarian lingkungan hidup.</em><em></em></p>
