Modular construction and panelized construction have been promoted and recognized globally as advanced construction techniques. Not only have these construction methods been utilized in the oil and gas industry, but they have also successfully been introduced into the residential construction industry. In North America, the panelized construction technique has become popular particularly for wood-frame wall panels. However, although utilizing this advanced construction method can greatly improve the working environment and productivity, the conventional mentality in construction, which overlooks the value of an automated management system to support offsite prefabrication and onsite installation, hinders its potential. An Internet of Things (IoT)-based management system can capture all dynamic data in real time and effectively synthesize it along the supply chain associated with various types of resources. Eventually, with the assistance of a feature-based modeling method, IoT-based information collection can be merged into an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. Although highly dynamic market demands result in continual changes in the production plan, schedule, and inventory levels, adopting an IoT-based system accounts for the dynamic changes characteristic of this advanced construction method in order to maximize production. Therefore, in this paper, a conceptual framework for an IoT-based inventory control system is proposed in order to enhance the production and satisfy Just-in-Time inventory principle. IoT-based real-time technology is introduced and the development of supportive software is described. Part of the proposed IoT-based inventory control system is implemented as a case study in a panelized construction manufacturing facility, ACQBUILT, Inc., based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Integrating design and operating envelopes of an asset with live operations data allows operators to see exceedances in real time and precisely understand the health of their asset. This technology is a direct stem of the rapidly growing digitalisation philosophy of many operators, whereby data that have traditionally been locked in PDF documents, Excel spreadsheets and other silos can be digitised, structured and connected to many different end points. For asset integrity monitoring, this means digitising and integrating design envelopes, data historians, enterprise resource planning systems and calculation tools with a unified front-end visualisation, to display what is really happening on an asset. By integrating and visualising these data sources, it is possible to create a single location for monitoring the health of all operator assets and generating reports for continued assessment. Once established, the platform provides a base for deployment of other intelligent toolkits, such as pattern recognition for valve signature monitoring, or predictive modelling for corrosion management over the life of field. This extended abstract uses a case study to discuss the benefits of standardising the visualisation landscape for monitoring the health of assets, the improvements and efficiencies delivered to the integrity monitoring process, the ability to highlight flaws in the design envelopes, and the engineering required to ensure that the right instrument is monitoring the right equipment.

Forest resource information and real-time order-supply service are significant in wood fuel procurement. Section 1 defines the data sources of solid wood fuel procurement for regional power plants and their material supply chain. Section 2 presents an architecture for the order-supply process of wood fuel, and Section 3 creates an application for managing the supply chain and reporting. The system creates and uses data from different sources: a forest resource information system, wood material webstores, and enterprise resource planning (ERP). The data model, which follows the entity-attribute-value approach, is based on the annual processes of wood fuel procurement. These include wood fuel procurement planning in plants, processing of wood materials, ordering of wood fuel, and reporting. There is the view of the characteristics of PC and mobile services used by the enterprises of solid wood fuels. Reporting includes real-time information for suppliers, effectiveness of transportation and megawatt production, and spatial marking of forest nature reserves and carbon sinks.

Consuming on-demand highly scalable services is a basic component of distributed computing that frees enterprise resource planning from superfluous programming or equipment conditions. While appreciating the accommodation brought by ERP innovation concept, user’s loss their belonging information because of less authentication appeared ERP servers. Remote stockpiling of clients information in Enterprise resource opens up new difficulties, for example, absence of authority over information and security. To address this issue, already a novel methodology, in particular Enterprise Business Information Accountability (EBIA) system, in view of the idea of data responsibility to monitor the genuine use of the clients' information in the Enterprise resource was proposed. Mainly this objective method applicable to provide privacy for different users with preferable operations in distributed sharing of data. Experimental results of implemented approach gives better privacy with respect to different tamperproof test users in distributed environment.

Integration of factory floor Computer Numerical Control (CNC) information into Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) subsystems has been difficult, if not impossible, as traditionally, factory floor machines have been “islands of automation.” Boeing/NIST/Okuma jointly collaborated on a pilot project for using a CNC open architecture controller to collect real-time Boeing-specific part accounting data during the production of Boeing 737 Leading Edge (LE) Panels. The goal was to develop a practical and standardized approach in which to capture the real-time part data and then provide this information to an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) subsystem. This paper presents the results from our Boeing/Okuma/NIST pilot project that evaluated Ole for Process Control (OPC) as an integration strategy for the LE Production Line part accounting at Boeing. Using OPC, automatic logging of the relevant part production statistics was done for each production line, which in turn was used to more accurately determine the total cost of making each LE production line.
