The study aims at examining whether life satisfaction of pregnant women is predicted by their stress coping styles, being understood/not understood by their husbands, and intentional/unintentional conception. This cross-sectional study was conducted on 260 pregnant women living in two districts of Province Samsun who had self-reportedly no psychiatric problems. Data collection tools used in the study include a personal information form to determine sociodemographic characteristics of pregnant women, the Ways of Coping Questionnaire to determine stress coping styles, and the Satisfaction with Life Scale to determine level of life satisfaction. As the assumption of normality was not met (p<0.05), the use of non-parametric tests was considered necessary; and thus the study used Spearman's rank correlation coefficient to find the relationship between two variables, and the Mann–Whitney U test to test whether there is a significant difference between two variables. A significant negative correlation was found between life satisfaction and submissive and helpless coping styles which are the subscales of the Satisfaction with Life Scale. The study found that life satisfaction of pregnant women was predicted by their stress coping styles, being understood/not understood by their husbands, and intentional/unintentional conception.

The main purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between life satisfaction and leisure satisfaction of individuals participating leisureactivities within outdoor recreation.A total of 500 individuals, (females n = 298 and males n = 202) aged 12 to 65 participated in this study, who were interested in outdoor recreation in parks in London, England. The research sample was randomly selected. These participants were individuals that participated outdoor recreation and leisure activities as a volunteer.Within the scope of the survey study, two different scales were used. At the same time, demographic variables of participants were questioned. The questionnaire form consisted of the following two scales; “The Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS)” developed by Diener et al. (1985) adapted to Turkish by Köker and Yetim (1991), and “Leisure Satisfaction Scale (LSS)” developed by Beard &Ragheb (1980) adapted to Turkish by Gökçe (2008).For an initial statistical representation of the data, descriptive and frequency analyses were performed. Pearson correlation coefficients were utilized to determine and interpret the existence and degree of correlations between scale mean scores. According to the findings of the study, a significantly moderate level of correlation was observed between participants’ level of life satisfaction and leisure satisfaction (r: ,36; p< .05).The results of the study show that individuals participating in outdoor recreation (parks) have a high level of life satisfaction and quality of life which in return provides positive psychological and physiological gains. In addition, individuals participating in outdoor recreation with a high level of leisure satisfaction are also expected to have a high level of life satisfaction. Thus, local authorities are suggested to pay special attention and focus on recreational activities and management of recreational areas such as parks.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the happiness and life satisfaction levels of university students by various factors and to reveal the relationship between those two terms. The sample group of the study is composed of Necmettin Erbakan University Physical Education and Sports Teacher Department and Pamukkale University Sports Sciences Faculty students, who are 801 in number, 394 of them male and 407 of them female, and with an average age of 23.58±2.98. In the study the “Life Satisfaction Scale,” which has been developed by Diener et al. (1985) and adapted to Turkish by Durak et al. (2010), and the “Oxford Happiness Scale Short Version,” which has been developed by Hills and Argyle (2002) and adapted to Turkish by Doğan and Akıncı Çötok (2010), has been used. To determine the personal information distribution of participants percentage and frequency methods, and to determine whether the data has normal distribution or not Shapir Wilks normalcy test has been used and after establishing that the data is suitable for parametric test conditions, to analyse the data the independent t Test, Anova and Pearson Correlation tests have been used. According to the analysis results, a significant difference in life satisfaction has been observed with respect to age and regular exercise parameters (p < 0.05). According to the happiness scale a significant difference has been observed with respect to gender, department, grade and department satisfaction parameters (p < 0.05). Finally, a positive and meaningful relationship has been observed between the two scales. Consequently, it could be argued that life satisfaction and happiness levels of participants show significant differences with respect to some parameters and that the higher their life satisfaction, the higher their level of happiness.

This study aims to investigate the correlations between the physical activity levels of students who study sports sciences and their life satisfaction levels according to a number of variables. The study group was composed of 212 students—100 of whom were female and 112 of whom were male—who attended Physical Education and Sports School of Adıyaman University in 2020-2021 academic year. The participants were given the international physical activity questionnaire (Craig et al., 2003) and satisfaction with life scale (SWLS) (Diener & Griffin, 1985) along with personal information form (IPAQ-SF) online. As a result, no correlations were found between physical education and sports school students’ levels of physical activities and their life satisfaction. Accordingly, the BMI average for the female students (x̄ = 20.31) was found to be significantly lower than the average for the male students (x̄ = 23.68). The inactive students’ average (x̄ = 21.61) and the average of the students who were very active (x̄ = 21.37) were significantly higher (p < 0.01). On the other hand, no significant differences were found in the participants’ levels of physical activity or in their life satisfaction levels according to types of sports and gender (p > 0.05).In conclusion, it may be stated that physical activities do not affect university students’ life satisfaction but that they eliminate their problems of overweight and that those activities reduce the average for BMI in positive ways and thus resulted in healthier individuals.
