The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of vitamin E supplementation to diet containing herbal mixture on performance, meat quality, hematological status and fat deposition of broiler chickens. Eighty 15-day-old female broilers were distributed into 2 treatment groups with 4 replications (10 female broilers of each replication) as follows. Feed with FSBL plus 1 g of turmeric and 2 g garlic (P1) and Feed of P1 plus vitamin E (P2). Vitamin E supplementation had no effect on performance, carcass weight, meat bone ratio, drip loss and cooking loss, gizzard, spleen, proventriculus, gallbladder, heart, caecum, intestine, fat depot in abdomen, sartorial, neck, heart, proventriculus, and liver as expressed by fatty liver score, blood triglyceride, cholesterol, LDL and HDL concentrations, moisture, and fat and ash contents of meats.  However, it reduced liver weight, toxicity score, gizzard fat depot and meat protein. In conclusion, vitamin E supplementation to  diet containg herbal mixture reduced meat protein, toxicity score, and gizzard fat depot.

Previous research has demonstrated that dietary supplementation with high levels of die antioxidant vitamin E is effective in improving beef quality and shelf-life (Arnold et al., 1993). However, these animals did not have access to fresh forage which contains high levels of endogenous vitamin E and also higher concentrations of readily-oxidisable n-3 unsaturated fatty acids (Marmer et al, 1984). This study investigated the effectiveness of vitamin E in improving meat quality of grass finished cattle compared with those fed concentrates.

The nutritional quality of local food in the poor Kalimantan region will be lacking in minerals because the place for growing forage plants in a land with margins (acid) makes the quality of mineral poor food ingredients. The purpose of this study was to determine the nutritional quality of local feed supplemented with biocomplex ZN and Vitamin E. The treatment in this study used a complete design (CRD) with 4 processing repetitions made from 16 experimental units, consisting of (Tl) local forage-concentrates l2% PK without Zn and vitamin E supplementation, (T 2) Tl-supplementation + 60 mg Zn / kg as biocomplex Zn and vitamin E (T3) Tl + l20 mg Zn / kg such as Zn biocomplex + vitamin E and (T4) Tl + l80 mg Zn Biokomplek / kg + vitamin E. Parameters collected are the nutritional quality and digestibility of dry matter and feed organic matter. The results shown from studies using biocomplex ZN up to 180mg / kg of feed (PT3) can increase the protein content and dry matter content of local feed, and can increase the digestibility of local dry matter and organic feed ingredients. It was concluded that ZN Biokomplek and Vitamin E can improve the quality of local feed.

Effect of vitamin E addition (alfa-tokoferol) into sperm washing medium by centrifuge on the quality of Brahman cattle spermatozoa ABSTRACT. The aims of study to determine the effectiveness of the addition of vitamin E in the washing medium by centrifugation on sperm quality Brahman cattle. frozen semen of Brahman cattle, divided into 4 treatment groups addition of vitamin E in the washing medium: 0.0gr/100 ml medium (K0), 0.1gr /100 ml medium (K1); 0.2gr/100 ml medium (K2) and 0.3 g / 100 ml medium (K4), each group was repeated 5 times. Examination of motility, viability and integrity of sperm membrane performed according to WHO standards. The data obtained were analyzed with one-way ANOVA and Duncan test. The average percentage of motility, viability and membrane integrity of spermatozoa in the addition of vitamin E were significantly different (P 0.05) compared to the control. Percentage of motility, viability and membrane integrity of spermatozoa in the group K2 significantly higher (P 0.05) compared with the group K3: K1 and K0. Percentage of motility, viability and sperm capacitation and sperm live on group K3 significantly higher (P 0.05) compared with the K1 and K0. While the percentage motility of spermatozoa in the group K1 higher were not significant (P 0.05) compared with the group K0. The addition of vitamin E in the medium on the process of washing spermatozoa Brahman cattle. The addition of vitamin E 0.2gr/100ml better than vitamin E 0.1gr/100ml and 0.3gr/100ml in maintaining the percentage of motility and live spermatozoa Brahman cattle.
