The research aimed to find out the influence of the application of inquiry learning and problem-based learning and model toward students’ critical thinking skills on the content of 5th-grade science lessons in elementary schools. Types of the research are a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. The population of this research is the 5th-grade students of SDN 02 Salatiga as the experiment class and the 5th-grade students of SDN Ledok 07 Salatiga as the control class. The instrument used was an observation instrument and an instrument test. Research hypothesis test using independent sample t-test with a significance level of 5% (α - 0,05). The results showed that the observation instrument obtained a significance value of 0,002 which means 0,002 < 0,05 and the instrument test obtained a significance value of 0,000 which means 0,000 < 0,05, then both of these data are Ho=rejected and Ha=accepted. Thus, it can be concluded there is a significant difference between the critical thinking abilities of students who are given Inquiry learning models and students who are given a Problem-Based Learning model.

This research aims to describe and analyze result of applying Problem-Based Learning and Cognitive Conflict Strategy (PBLCCS) in increasing students’ Mathematical Critical Thinking (MCT) ability and Mathematical Curiosity Attitude (MCA). Adopting a quasi-experimental method with pretest-posttest control group design and using mixed method with sequential explanatory strategy, the study involves undergraduate students of Mathematics Education Program at a private university in Riau, Indonesia, academic year 2015/2016 enrolled in Number Theory course. Quantitative data were obtained from essay test and questionnaire whereas qualitative data were from interview and observation. The findings show that; (1) there is a difference between MCT ability taught by PBLCCS and Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI), (2) there is no significant difference between MCA taught by PBLCCS and EDI, (3) students still face obstacles in developing their critical thinking skills when solving matematical problems.

The purpose of conducting this research is to compare the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning learning model and the Project Based Learning learning model in terms of the critical thinking skills of elementary students. This type of research used in this research is Quasi Experimental with experimental design of Post test-Only Control Group Design. The population in the study were 164 five grade students in Diponegoro Salatiga Cluster, while the sample is 111 students of five grade students in SDN Mangunsari 01, SDN Mangunsari 03, and SDN Mangunsari 05. The results obtained from this study are based on descriptive statistics where the average implementation of the Problem Based Learning learning model is 92.46, while the average implementation of the Project Based Learning learning model is 85.15. the results of critical thinking skills in the Problem Based Learning model are higher than the Project Based Learning learning model reinforced by the T test results obtained by the Sig. (2-tailed) of 0, 047 0.05 thus there is a significant difference between the two groups.

Utilization of Problem Based Learning models assisted by learning media to improve critical thinking skills and cognitive learning outcomes of students have not run optimally. This study aims to determine the differences in critical thinking skills and cognitive learning outcomes of students with Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning models assisted by audio-visual media in SMA Negeri 06 Bengkulu City. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The study population was students of class XI SMA Negeri 06 Bengkulu City with two sample groups namely experiment and control with 36 people each. The instrument used, namely essay question test totaling 5 questions that measure critical thinking and multiple-choice questions totaling 10 questions to measure cognitive learning outcomes. The research data analysis technique used a t-test. The results showed that there were differences in critical thinking skills and student cognitive learning outcomes. This is evident from the t-count value of critical thinking skills of 6.414 (> t-table) and cognitive learning outcomes of 5.826 (> t-table). This research concludes that there are differences in critical thinking skills and cognitive learning outcomes of students with PBL models assisted by audio-visual media.

The Jurisprudential Inquiry learning model is a learning model in its application facilitating learners to be sensitive to social problems, take a position on the problem, and maintain that position / attitude with relevant and valid arguments so as to improve students' critical thinking skills. Critical thinking in this research refers to five indicators, namely the ability to form conclusions, formulate questions, uncover problems, formulate alternative solutions. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Jurisprudential Inquiry learning model on critical thinking skills of MTs N 1 Situbondo students. This study uses experimental research design with the form of Quasi-Experimental Design with the type of pretest posttest control group design. The sample in this study was class VIII G numbering 22 students and VIII H a number of 24 students with purposive sampling sampling technique. The technique of collecting data uses test questions with the description form. The data analysis technique in this study is to use the independent sample t-test. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant influence on the use of the Jurisprudential Inquiry learning model on students' critical thinking with indicators formulating conclusions, formulating questions, expressing problems and providing alternative solutions. The results of the hypothesis test show tcount 3.362 and ttable with a significance level (5%) 0.05, degree of freedom (db) = (n-2) then obtained t(0.05) (44) table = 2.015. The results of tcount>ttable,which shows the results of 3.362> 2.015. As for the significance level of 5% (0.05) has a significance value α> 0.05, i.e. (2-tailed) 0.694> 0.05., it can be concluded that thelearning model is Jurisprudential Inquiry more influential than themodel Problem Solving on the critical thinking ability of students on the material emergence of national organizations and the growing spirit of nationalism.

Abstract. This research was conducted to improve critical thinking skills students through the application of the Project Based Learning (PBL) model on the material of simple harmonic motion. The research design was a quasi-experimental study with a control group pretest posttest design. The research was conducted at a high school in Samarinda with the number of research subjects consisting of 34 students. The instruments of the research were in the form of an integrated test description with skills critical thinking and a questionnaire of the student responses to the application of the PBL model. The result of the research showed that the of the PBL model (experimental class) improved students' critical thinking skills with N-Gain means of 0.61, while the conventional model (control class) improved students' critical thinking skills with N-Gain means of 0.38. There is a significant difference in critical thinking skills between classes using the PBL model compared to those applying the conventional model on the topic of simple harmonic motion.Keywords: problem based learning, critical thinking, simple harmonic motion.Abstrak. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa melalui penerapan model Project Based Learning (PBL) pada materi gerak harmonik sederhana. Desain penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan control group pretest posttest design. Penelitian dilakukan pada salah satu SMA di Samarinda dengan jumlah subjek penelitian terdiri dari 34 siswa orang siswa. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes uraian yang terintegrasi dengan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan angket tanggapan siswa terhadap penerapan model PBL. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model PBL (kelas eksperimen) meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa dengan rerata N-Gain sebesar 0,61, sedangkan untuk model konvensional (kelas control) meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa dengan rerata N-Gain sebesar 0,38. Terdapat perbedaan kterampilan berpikir kritis yang signifikan antara kelas dengan menerapkan model PBL dibandingkan dengan yang menerapkan model konvensional pada topik gerak harmonik sederhana.Kata kunci: problem based learning, berpikir kritis, gerak harmonik sederhana.

<p>This research is aim to compare the students critical thinking skills who engaged in a problem-based learning model with students who engaged in conventional learning. This is experimental research, with posttest only control group design. The population is 50 of Accounting XI students in Widya Bhakti Vocational School in Ruteng, Flores. Samples grouping on nonprobability sampling, that is saturated sampling where all of this population members are used as samples. The sample in the experimental class was all 24 students of class XI Accounting 1 who received treatment problem-based learning, while the control class sample was all 26 students of class XI Accounting 2 who received conventional learning. Data is collected through tests in the form of description questions.</p>A prerequisite test was carried out before testing the research hypothesis: the normality test and the homogeneity test. The results of these prerequisite test are data in two groups indicated as normally distributed and both are homogeneous. Then, the research hypothesis was tested using t-test. Obtained and on a significance level of and degrees of freedom. Because then is rejected while is acceptable. In this case,  the average value of critical thinking skills in the experimental class,  the average value of critical thinking skills in the control class. The meaning of the results of this analysis are: (1) when compared to conventional learning models, the problem-based learning model has a more positive and significant influence on the formation of students' critical thinking skills; (2) The value of t-count = 4.005 indicates that the average value of critical thinking skills of students using problem-based learning models is so higher than the average value of conventional learning students' critical thinking abilities.

 Abstract. This study aims to determine the use of inquiry-based learning model laboratory to increase critical thinking skills of students of SMP Negeri 6 Banda Aceh on light reflection material. The method used is a quasi-experimental control group design with pre-test and post-test design. The population in this study is in the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 6 Banda Aceh. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique. As for the samples in the study were students VIII2 as an experimental class, and the class as a class VIII5 control the number of students in each class of 30 people. Experimental class taught by laboratory-based inquiry learning model, and the control class was taught by conventional learning models. Data collected through the research instrument is test critical thinking skills in essay form. Conclusions are drawn based on the results of data analysis and processing using Microsoft Word Exel, 2013. The results of data analysis showed an average score of critical thinking skills and experimental control group was 27.90% (low) and 42.02% (moderate). This result was also confirmed by the t-test, the average difference in the improvement of critical thinking skills (α = 0.05) obtained t (6.10) t table (2.39). These results indicate a laboratory-based inquiry learning model can significantly improve the students' critical thinking skills compared with conventional learning models in light reflection material.Keywords: Model inquiry, and critical thinking skills

In learning mathematics, students are still found to have difficulty in understanding and developing critical thinking skills. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine the significant influence of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by concrete media on the ability to think critically mathematics in grade IV in elementary school. This research was a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group design. The population of class IV SD as many as 293 people. The sample was determined by cluster random sampling technique. The sample in the experimental group was 32 students and the control group was 30 students. Data used as a test method in the form of a subjective test (description). The data obtained were analyzed using the t-test analysis technique with the polled variance formula. The results of data analysis were obtained (t-count = 4.021> t-table = 2,000) at the significance level of 5% (dk = 32 + 30 - 2 = 67) which means that there was a significant difference in the ability to think critically mathematics between groups being taught with the model of Problem Based Learning with media aids Concretely with the group learned using conventional learning models in class IV elementary school. It can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning model assisted by concrete media influences the ability to think critically mathematics in class IV. The results of this study can be used as input for teachers to choose various learning models in teaching.

Matematika merupakan pelajaran wajib yang sudah diajarkan semenjak dasar hingga menengah, matematika dapat melatih dan mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir siswa. Namun, banyak siswa yang menganggap matematika adalah mata pelajaran yang sulit dipahami. Siswa cenderung menghindari bahkan takut untuk belajar matematika, sehingga menyebabkan rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian Quasi Eksperimental Design dan rancangan penelitianThe Non equivalent Postets-Only Control Grup Design.Populasidalampenelitian ini adalah kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Dewantara, sementara sampelnya yaitu kelas VIII2dan VIII3dengan teknik pengambilan sampel adalah Purposive Sampling. Adapun Teknik pengumpulandatayangdigunakandalam penelitianini adalah tes kemampuanberpikirkritis matematis siswa. Analisis data yang dilakukan untuk tes kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis menggunakan uji-t karena data berdistribusi normal dan homogen. This research uses a quantitative approach with the type of research Quasi Experimental Design and the research design of The Nonequivalent Postets-Only Control Group Design. The population in this study was class VIII SMP Negeri 4 Dewantara, while the sample was class VIII2 and VIII3 with the sampling technique using purposive sampling. The data collection technique used in this study was a test of students' mathematical critical thinking skills. The data analysis conducted for the test of mathematical critical thinking skills used the t-test because the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. From the results of the hypothesis test, it was obtained a significant value of 0.001, which means reject Ho, so it can be concluded that using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model has an effect on students' mathematical critical thinking skills.

This research is aimed to determine the students’ achievement and critical thinking on the digestion system topic. This study was conducted using a quasi-experiment with a control group pre-test and post-test design. Furthermore, the samples were chosen using the purposive sampling technique. The instrument consisted of 20 multiple-choice tests. Findings indicate that the average student achievement is 16.71 in the experiment and 12.92 in the control class. The t-test also can be known as t-count t-table (1.71 1.68), which means a significant difference between experiment average and control average. Based on the test result in the experiment class, it can be assumed that there is an enhancement of the average percentage of students' critical thinking from 63% to 84%. Thus, it can be concluded that inquiry learning model can increase the students’ achievement and critical thinking.
