The experiment was conducted in research field of Agriculture Research Station at Belachapi, Dhanusha, Nepal from November, 2017 to February, 2018 to evaluate the effects of different doses of organic and inorganic fertilizers on Cauliflower yield parameters and soil properties. In the experiment, there were ten treatments consisting of different combinations of organic and inorganic fertilizers. The cauliflower variety ‘Snow mystic’ was grown with these treatments laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. The half dose of Organic manure (750 kg/ha) and half dose of farm yard manure (FYM) (20 t/ha) produced the highest curd yield (1019 g) and biomass (2046 g). The highest Nitrogen percent (0.10%), Organic matter percent (1.89%) and Phosphorus content (169.09 mg/kg) were obtained with the application of combined half dose of NPK (105:90:60 kg NPK/ha) and half FYM (20 t FYM/ha). The combined effect of application of Organic manures with inorganic fertilizers (NPK) was found to be better for crop growth and development as well as soil health improvement.

Abstract The chapter highlights the potential benefits associated with the use of insect-rearing residues as biofertilizers while exploring the mechanisms by which chitin in insect frass might control common crop pathogens. The potential benefits for soil fertility derived from the use of insect frass, comparison of quality of insect-derived biofertilizers and common organic and inorganic fertilizers and insect frass and plant health improvement are discussed. While more research is essential to understand the true value of insect-derived biofertilizers for plant and soil health, preliminary findings suggest there are significant opportunities for beneficial impacts in agriculture and horticulture to be realized.

Efforts to increase soybean productivity can be made with the application of organic and inorganic fertilizers. Large amounts of organic fertilizer are required to give a positive impact on soybean yield. However, this practice is deemed inefficient in terms procurement and transportation, making farmers less interested. The addition of inorganic fertilizer or the use of nutrient-rich organic fertilizer (Santap NM2) is among the solutions. The objective of this research was to formulate management techniques for organic and inorganic fertilizers application on the early-medium maturing soybean line, Lokal Jateng/Sinabung-1036, to achieve the soybean’s maximum potential yield. The research was conducted on Alfisols at Muneng Research Station, Probolinggo, and Vertisols at Ngale Research Station, Ngawi, in the dry season of 2012. The experiment was performed in a randomized complete block design with factorial, with three replications. The first factor was four doses of organic fertilizer and the second factor was four combination doses of ZA, SP-36, and KCl fertilizers. On the Alfisols of Probolinggo, Lokal Jateng/Sinabung-1036 soybean did not require additional inorganic fertilizers to achieve a yield of 2.71 t/ha, whereas on the Vertisols of Ngawi, Lokal Jateng/Sinabung-1036 soybean need 2 t /ha Santap NM2 to increase its yield from 2.60 t/ha to 2.81 t/ha.

A field trial was conducted during two consecutive summer seasons of2012 and 2013 at ICAR-Central Potato Research Station, Shillong, Meghalaya to evaluate the integration of nutrient sources on productivity and soil health under rainfed potato cultivation in north eastern hill region of India. There were six treatments of integrated nutrient management viz., 100% Recommended dose of fertilizers,75% RDF through synthetic fertilizers and 25% recommended dose of nitrogen (RDN) through FYM, 50% RDF and 50% RDN through FYM, 25% RDF and 75% RDN through FYM, 100% RDN through FYM and control (no application of any sources of nutrients). The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with four replications. Nutrient management practices showed the significant improvement on growth and yield attributes of potato over control plot. Highest productivity of potato tubers (t/ha) was noticed with application of 75% RDF through synthetic fertilizers along with 25% RDN through FYM. Similarly, the maximum net return was associated with application of 75% RDF and 25% RDN through FYM under investigation. Application of 75% Recommended dose of nutrients through synthetic fertilizers in combination with 25% Recommended dose of nitrogen through FYM was more profitable for sustainable production of potato in the north eastern hill region of India.

An experiment was conducted at the Soil Science Field Laboratory of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during winter (Rabi) season of 2013-14 to evaluate the effect of integrated use of organic and inorganic fertilizers on the growth, yield and nitrogen (N) uptake of wheat. There were six treatments such as T0 (control), T1 [STB-CF (HYG)], T2 [STB-CF (HYG) + CD (5 t/ha)], T3 [STB-CF (HYG) +PM (3 t/ha)], T4 [STB-CF (HYG) COM (5 t/ha)] and T5 [FP (Farmers’ practice)]. The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design with four replications. Soil test based nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sulphur, zinc and boron were used @ 100, 20, 60, 10, 3 and 2 kg ha-1, respectively. The integrated use of organic and inorganic fertilizers significantly increased the yield attributes as well as grain and straw yields of wheat. The treatment T3 [STB-CF (HYG) + PM (3 tha-1)] produced the highest grain yield of 3554 kg ha-1 (69.67% increase over control) and straw yield of 3635 kg ha-1 (62.83% increase over control). The lowest grain yield (2094 kg ha-1) and straw yield (2232 kg ha-1) were found in control treatment. The N content and uptake by wheat were also markedly influenced by combined use of organic and inorganic fertilizers and the treatment T3 demonstrated superior performance to other treatments. So, the applications of fertilizers in combination with poultry manure @ 3 t ha-1 can be used for the successful cultivation of wheat in Old Brahmaputra Floodplain soil. Progressive Agriculture 27 (2): 149-153, 2016

Background: Pulses are leguminous crops which not only increase the soil fertility, its fitness and maintain soil health but also essential to meet the nutritional demand of burgeoning human population particularly in developing countries. Mungbean is a major pulse crop of Zone IIa (Transitional Plain of Inland Drainage Zone) of Rajasthan state. Farm profitability can also be enhanced by augmenting farm productivity. Selection of high yielding genotypes may play a vital role to achieve sustainable high agricultural yield at farmer’s field. Therefore, it is prerequisite to identify the suitable genotypes for this zone since the available varieties were not tested for its adaptability. The current study was aimed to evaluate twelve mung bean genotypes for seed yield with four checks in Zone IIa of Rajasthan.Methods: The mung bean crop was raised during Kharif 2018 and 2019 at Agricultural Research Station, Fatehpur- Shekhawati, Sikar (Rajasthan). Seed yield and its ancillary characters have been observed by following standard protocols. Present experiment was conducted in randomized block design with three replications. The material was sown in a four row plot of 4 m length with a spacing of 30 cm between rows and 10 cm between plants.Result: The performance of genotypes RMG 1098, RMG 1132, RMG 1134, RMG 1139 and RMG 1147 were superior to the zonal, state checks and other tested genotypes. The selected high yielding mung bean genotypes can increase farm output per se and farm profitability by sustaining soil health, fitness and productivity of this region.

The Effect of Organic and Inorganic Fertilizers on The Growth and Results of Green Mustard (Brassica rapa L.). Green mustard (Brassica rapa L.) is a vegetable that preferred by many consumers, this causes many farmers cultivate this vegetables. One of the important factor in the cultivation of green mustard is fertilizer type. Alternative to improve soil quality and fertility is by providing organic matter. A field research was conducted to evaluate the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers on the growth and yield of green mustard, in Banjar Taman Tande, Baturiti Village, Bedugul from April to June 2018. This study was designed with a Randomized Block Design with nested patterns consisting of two factors. The first factor was the type of fertilizer, which was consisted of four types of organic fertilizer, namely: vermicompost, cow manure, chicken manure, goat manure and inorganic fertilizers (NPK Mutiara). The second factor was fertilizer dosage, which was consisted of three levels, namely: 0 tons/ha, 15 tons/ha, and 30 tons/ha, while for NPK Mutiara fertilizer dosages, namely: 0 kg/ha, 150 kg/ha, and 300 kg/ha.The results showed that the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers were not significantly different on the growth and yield of green mustard plants and RAE values. The total N content of soil on vermicompost treatment was 0.23% equal to NPK Mutiara. The total population of soil microbes on vermicompost treatment under dosage of 15 tons/ha and 30 tons/ha were 1.4 x 106 cfu/g that was much higher compared to NPK Mutiara 150 kg/ha fertilizer (0.3 x 106 cfu/g).

Performance of salt-tolerant Boro rice was investigated under the interaction effect of variety and different doses of potassium fertilizer, which is a part of the research for developing agriculture in coastal areas of Bangladesh. A field experiment was conducted at the research field of Agriculture department, Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), Noakhali-3814. The experiment was carried out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications where two varieties viz. BINA dhan-8, BRRI dhan-28 and three doses of potassium viz. 120 kg/ha, 84 kg/ha and 36kg/ha were used as treatments. Plant height (cm), tillers/hill, grain/panicle, 1000 grain weight (g), grain yield (t/ha), straw yield (t/ha) and harvest index (%) were compared among varieties and treatments. Results revealed that only variety and only potassium fertilizer had non-significant influence but the interaction of variety and potassium fertilizer had a significant effect on the performance of salt-tolerant Boro rice. Therefore, the present study suggests that salt-tolerant BINA dhan-8 variety may be cultivated with 120 kg potassium/ha for obtaining higher yield in the southern coastal area of Bangladesh. Red rice was one species of rice in Indonesia that was superior in nutritional content and selling price compared to white rice but the productivity of red rice is still low. One of way to improved rice growth and productivity is fertilization red rice was one type of rice in Indonesia that contains high nutrition. This research aimed to observe the effects of  the combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers on the growth and yield of red rice (Oryza nivara L.). The research used a Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with 7 treatments. Each treatment had 3 replications and each experiment unit consisted of 3 plants so that there were 63 plants. The best treatment was compost of oil palm empty fruit bunch (125 g) + N, P, and K fertilizer 50%. The highest production was on oil palm empty fruit bunch compost (125 g) + Fertilizer N, P and K 50%,  it was equivalent to 5.49 ton/ha. In the red rice crop farming system it can be recommended to provide a combination of oil palm empty fruit bunch (125 g) compost and 50% N, P and K fertilizer to increase yields in the cultivation of red rice.
