Inter-storey drift is an important parameter of structural behavior in seismic analysis of buildings. Pounding effect in building simply means collision between adjacent buildings due to earthquake load caused by out of phase vibration of adjacent buildings. There is variation in inter-storey drift of adjacent buildings during pounding case and no pounding case. The main objective of this research was to compare the inter-storey drift of general adjacent RC buildings in pounding and no pounding case. For this study two adjacent RC buildings having same number of stories have been considered. For pounding case analysis there is no gap in between adjacent buildings and for no pounding case analysis there is sufficient distance between adjacent buildings. The model consists of adjacent buildings having 4 and 4 stories but unequal storey height. Both the buildings have same material & sectional properties. Fast non-linear time history analysis was performed by using El-centro earthquake data as ground motion. Adjacent buildings having different overall height were modelled in SAP 2000 v 15 using gap element for pounding case. Finally, analysis was done and inter-storey drift was compared. It was found that in higher building inter-storey drift is greater in no pounding case than in pounding case but in adjacent lower height building the result was reversed. Additionally, it was found that in general residential RC buildings maximum inter-storey drift occurs in 2nd floor.

A method and computer program ConRow, which prognostication of development of the dynamically CPLD economic transients is executed by, is described in the article. Such prognostication of economic processes is very important in the cases when their development can result in undesirable consequences, that to go out in the so-called critical area. Extrapolation in a critical area with the use of information about the conduct of the system at an area, near to it, allows to estimate to the lead through of experiment in the critical area of his consequence. For the imitation of conduct of object the function of review is set on entrance influence. For a concrete object this function can express, for example, dependence of change of level sale from time-history of charges on advertising and set as a numeral row. Statistics as a result of analysis of row are represented in a table, where the level of meaningfulness is set statistician, and also parameters of the handed over criteria. The graphic reflection of information is intended for visualization of analysis. Here represented on the points of graphic arts, the crooked smoothing which are calculated as полиномиальные regressions is added. The best approaching is controlled by sight on the proper graph, and also by minimization of their rms errors. Models of prognostication by sight and as formulas represented on graphic arts, the middle is here determined tailings and their chance is checked up on statistics of signs. After the got models determined also and prognosis values of influences and reviews. Establishing an order models of Сr(p) of co integrate regression is carried out separate custom controls. The coefficient of clay correlation of ruФ shows by itself pair correlation between lines with a successive change in relation to each other on a size to лагу of l = 1, 2, 3 . The program was tested on the example of ex-post prognosis at establishing an integration connection and possibility of prognostication of growth of nominal average monthly settlings on the basis of these statistical indexes of consumer inflation in Ukraine.

There are two typical seismic damage characteristics to the masonry building with frame shear wall structure at first two stories, and the lateral stiffness ratio of the third storey to the second storey is one of the key factors mostly affecting the seismic performance of this kind of building. However, some factors are not considered sufficiently in current Chinese seismic codes. According to the theory of performance-based seismic design, the seismic performance of this kind of structure is analyzed in this paper by taking time-history analysis on models which with different storey stiffness ratios. The results show that when the lateral stiffness ratio controlled in a reasonable range, the upper masonry deformation can be ensured in a range of elastic roughly, and the bottom frame can be guaranteed to have sufficient deformation and energy dissipation capacity. Finally, according to the seismic performance characteristics of masonry building with frame shear wall structure at first two stories, especially the characteristics under strong earthquakes, a method of simplified calculation model for the upper masonry is discussed in this paper.

Due to the upgrade and reconstruct of a high-piled wharf, the piling construction may cause the damage of the large diameter underground pipe of a power plant nearby. For this problem, a dynamic time-history analysis model was established using MIDAS/GTS program. Based on the analysis of the pile driving vibration and its propagation law, some parameters, such as the modulus of the soil, the Poissons ratio of soil, the action time of vibration load and the damping ratio of the soil that may have an effect on the response law of the soil, were studied. The study results not only serve as an important inference to the construction of this case, but also accumulate experience and data for other similar engineering practices.

This paper presents the performance of base-isolated steel structures under the seismic load. The main goals of this study are to evaluate the effectiveness of base isolation systems for steel structures against earthquake loads; to verify the modal analysis of steel frame compared with the hand calculation results; and development of a simulating method for base-isolated structure’s responses. Two models were considered in this study, one a steel structure with base-isolated and the other without base-isolated system. The nonlinear time-history analysis of both structures under El Centro 1940 seismic ground motion was used based on finite element method through SAP2000. The mentioned frames were analyzed by Eigenvalue method for linear analysis and Ritz-vector method for nonlinear analysis. Simulation results were presented as time-acceleration graphs for each story, period and frequency of both structures for the first three modes.

This study addresses an alternative use of viscous dampers (VDs) associated with buckling restrained braces (BRBs) as innovative seismic protection devices. For this purpose, 4-, 8- and 12-story steel bare frames were designed with 6.5 m equal span length and 4 m story height. Thereafter, they were seismically improved by mounting the VDs and BRBs in three patterns, namely outer bays, inner bays, and all bays over the frame heights. The structures were modeled using SAP 2000 software and evaluated by the nonlinear time history analyses subjected to the six natural ground motions. The seismic responses of the structures were investigated for the lateral displacement, interstory drift, absolute acceleration, maximum base shear, and time history of roof displacement. The results clearly indicated that the VDs and BRBs reduced seismic demands significantly compared to the bare frame. Moreover, the all-bay pattern performed better than the others.
