Oregon’s Coastal Bridge Program was designed to preserve the economic and cultural resources invested in Oregon’s coastal bridges. The Oregon Coast Highway contains a significant concentration of bridges listed on or eligible for the National Historic Register. Many of these reinforced concrete structures are suffering extensive corrosion damage resulting from years of exposure to the marine environment. Oregon has developed this program to evaluate, prioritize, and preserve these magnificent bridges. Preservation of these bridges has relied on the innovative application of cathodic protection technology. This new technology has been applied successfully through a project design and construction process that includes ongoing interaction among design engineers, researchers, construction project management personnel, and contractors.

This text introduce interception oil-remove new technology developed by Nanjing bidun environmental protection technology Co., Ltd and the equipment “International No.1” used for offshore spilled oil treatment. This equipment adopt interception oil-removal technology, can separate and purify oil-water on site, recycle spilled oil with high quality and speed, meanwhile let the sewage discharge reaching the required standard. This treatment technology is pure physical process without any chemical, so will not cause secondary pollution. Offshore spilled oil treatment equipment”International No.1” can recycle spilled oil as original quality, application range is wide, from crude oil to light oil, and all mineral oil. It applies to oil content from trace to 100 percent; oil gathering concentration ≥95%, oil content of effluent ≤5mg/L. This equipment also has characteristics of small volume and low energy consumption. This equipment was highly evaluated by PCT, and get invention patent license of America, Russia and South Korea, also obtained the "Certificate of Type Approval " issued by IMO and China Classification Society.

Harbor projects have to face harsh marine environment, and the corrosion damage of steel structures is rather serious. It is an insurance for structural safety and an important measure of durable that strengthening of corrosion control, selecting the appropriate anti-corrosion technology, reasonable design, scientific construction and appropriate maintenance management, and it has an important economic and strategic significance.

The Army is tasked with managing the cultural resources on its lands. For installations that contain large numbers of historic farmsteads, meeting these requirements through traditional archaeological approaches entails large investments of personnel, time and organization capital. Through two previous projects, Engineer Research and Development Center, Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (ERDC-CERL) cultural resource management personnel developed a methodology for efficiently identifying the best examples of historic farmstead sites, and also those sites that are least likely to be deemed eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. This report details testing the applicability of the methodology to regions across the country. Regional historic contexts were created to assist in the determination of “typical” farmsteads. The Farmstead/Ranch Eligibility Evaluation Form created by ERDC-CERL researchers was revised to reflect the broader geographic scope and the inclusion of ranches as a property type. The form was then used to test 29 sites at five military installations. The results of the fieldwork show this approach is applicable nationwide, and it can be used to quickly identify basic information about historic farmstead sites that can expedite determinations of eligibility to the National Register.

Nowadays, there are many types of roofing designed for steel vertical tanks. Their working properties are also quite different. The paper considers technical solutions of tank roofs constructed for storage of liquid aggressive liquids of oil type and the like. It describes a new technology which is being actively introduced at Russian enterprises at the moment. According to this new method, load-bearing structures are installed above roof flashing sheets, thus protecting them from direct contact with an aggressive environment. It ensures corrosion resistance and, consequently, durability of the tank stationary roof. To reduce the risk of corrosion damage it is necessary to increase metal thickness. The researchers suggest using stainless steel instead of regular carbon steel. In this case, steel sheets thickness can also be lessened thus making it possible to reduce loads on underlying constructions. The proposed solution of the units fastening the tank roof elements also simplifies construction inspection activities.

Since the 1970s the Australian banking industry has witnessed dramatic change as a result of the introduction of new technology and competitive banking. Such conditions have produced a fundamental change in the nature and management of bank work. This paper addresses what these changes have meant for middle management personnel. It is concluded that for branch managers and accountants there has been a change in the content of their jobs, which is reflected in a reduction in their autonomy and decision-making power, with a new emphasis being given to marketing and selling activities. The new competitiveness in the banking industry has encouraged staff to adopt an 'individual orientation' to their work. It is argued that such changes testify to a clear change in the management of the banking industry and suggest that middle management staff in banks will become increasingly hostile or resistant to further change, with a reduction in the number of middle management personnel, brought about by an increase in the technical control of operations through computerization.

A new technology of initiative protection for lightning stroke based on electric field cancellation theory is presented in this paper. The real time lightning detection system and the active protection equipment are adopted. By using this new method, the protection technology of direct lightning stroke can be changed from little current triggering to weakening the electric field near the weapon system, and the down leader of charged thundercloud can be repulsed by the artificial opposed field. So the lightning discharge condition in this protection region can be destructed, and the lightning hazard to the protected equipment is eliminated radically. It effectively reduces the electromagnetic radiation, ground potential reaction and step voltage caused by the high current along conducting wire in the conventional lightning rod protection technology.
