Frequent turnover of employees began from the last century, increased further with the inception of turnover-prone millennial employees and is likely to continue in the future. This study used expectation–confirmation theory and Herzberg’s two-factor theory as the underpinning theory. Its calibrated factors such as transformational leadership, stress reduction, and compensation and rewards that affect employee retention mediating through job embeddedness. A simple random sampling technique was utilized while selecting the respondents from millennial employees in private sectors. For developing the model, Smart Partial Least Square (PLS) was applied for path modelling, measurement models as well as for bootstrapping while testing the hypotheses. The study found that all these factors have got a significant positive relationship as predicted. This study has got numerous contributions, which are beneficial for all stakeholders of private industries. Although the enormous studies have been carried out in the Western context, the problem of frequent millennial turnover remains unresolved both in the West and in non-Western context. Practically, the study will be helpful for all against the frequent turnover and its losses. The paucity of studies on transformational leadership, stress reduction, compensation and rewards, and the retention of millennial employees in a developing country’s context made this research more significant and relevant. The mediating role of job embeddedness was also found to be significant in this relationship. Finally, the study was found to have implications for all stakeholders and future researchers.

The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs) sector has been recognized as an essential contributor to the economic development of Indonesia. However, the sustainability of MSMEs in Indonesia is still relatively low compared to the rest of ASEAN countries with similar levels of economic growth. This study aims to extend previous studies on the relationship between MSMEs characteristics and their sustainability by specifically including financial literation as a mediation role. This study used proportional random sampling as a sampling technique. A total of 191 MSMEs owner-managers questionnaire data were processed by using Partial Least Square analysis. This study confirmed the positive influence of MSMEs characteristics on financial literacy and financial literacy on the sustainability of MSMEs. Moreover, financial literation proves to be a significant mediator of MSMEs sustainability. This study suggests that MSMEs owner-managers need to be financially literate as it can enable them to make a good financial decision that can ensure their business sustainability.

As a result of globalisation of trade, the research on the role of global mindset (GM) in enhancing performance has gained momentum in the new millennium. Even though GM is considered as an essential prerequisite to performance in the current international business environment, the empirical evidence of the direct effects of GM on performance is mixed. One of the reasons for this mixed evidence is the existence of other mechanisms, such as mediators and moderators, which influence GM–performance relationships. This study focuses on one such mechanism, namely networks (NWs), and examines how NWs mediate the association between GM and the performance of the global grain and oilseed traders. The study argues that GM has little direct effect on trader performance (TP). Rather, GM strengthens network structure (NWS), which collectively leads to enhanced network leverage (NWL) and thus increased TP. Based on a sample of 78 traders in the global grain and oilseed sector (GGOS), the study finds that both the network (NW) components – NWS and NWL – mediate the association between GM and TP. The finding of full path mediation provides empirical evidence that superior GM leads to superior NWS, which results in superior NWL and thus superior TP. The method used in data analysis is Partial Least Square Structural Equations Modelling (PLS-SEM), using SmartPLS software. This study makes two main contributions. Firstly, the study endorses the critical role of GM in enhancing the performance of traders in the GGOS. Secondly, the study provides a deeper understanding of how GM enhances performance; that is, the serial mediating roles of NWS and NWL. The current research has largely suggested single mediation of relationship quality. This study goes a step further and introduces NWL into the argument. The key implications of the study include the need to strengthen the GM and NWs of traders, as the interplay between the two is critical in enhancing their performance. The findings need to be interpreted carefully, as the study suffers from limitations of small sample size and single sector study.

In a dynamic, complex and competitive business environment, it is vital for business organisations including manufacturing SMEs to improve product innovation capabilities and increase creativity and spontaneity in order to deal with uncertainties associated with intensity and frequency of changes in the environment. This study attempts to investigate the effects of product innovation on performance of manufacturing SMEs in an emerging economy and examine the role of strategic improvisation on product innovation and performance. Data for the study was collected from 182 owners/managers of manufacturing SMEs in Nigeria. The collected data was analysed using correlation and regression techniques. Findings of the empirical study indicate that the coefficient for product innovation is positive and significant for firm performance. However, the result shows that the interaction term between product innovation and strategic improvisation is not significant in predicting firm performance. Therefore, firms can build and enhance their performance using product innovation capabilities regardless of the present or absent of strategic improvisation in the organisation. This study provides implications for managers, entrepreneurs and government in finding the right way to performance through adopting product innovation.

Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) are the biggest contributors to the Malaysian economy with more than a third of total gross domestic product (GDP) delivered by these industries. In a competitive business environment, SMEs need to utilize information and technology in making decisions. This study aimed to see the relationship between management accounting information (MAI), decision-making, and cloud computing among SMEs in Malaysia. A quantitative research design utilizing survey questionnaires were used to collect the data. The survey was conducted on 384 Malaysian small and medium-sized enterprises in various sectors. The study obtained 105 useable responses which were analysed using Smart PLS 3.0 (Partial Least Square). The study found all the dimensions of MAI; namely broad scope, timeliness, aggregation and integration, positively related to decision-making. The findings also indicated that cloud computing moderated the relationship between MAI and decision-making. The results provided evidence for organizations to realize the importance of MAI, and strategize how to relate to information characteristics in decision-making. Moreover, it enhances the understanding of SMEs on the role of cloud computing, in light of competitive business environments. Future studies have the opportunity to expand the scope to include samples from other geograpical areas and enhance data collection through case studies and interviews to understand the issue in-depth.
