This study explores speaking anxiety: the identification of speaking anxiety in English education study program. Using a mixed methods approach, this research selected two different categories, students studying in English Education Department private university and those studying in English Education Department in public university as research participants. The findings suggest that the main factors of speaking anxiety causes at public university were essentially affected by nervousness and idea delivery. Nevertheless, English students in private university claimed that their dominant cause is rooted from self-confidence; considering mistakes and lecturers’ attitude during English speaking performance. This research is beneficial in enriching literature in the scope of English education department, especially in Indonesia and others state adopting English as foreign language. It is crucial to note that students’ voice is worth to listen, as a reflection for English teachers or lecturers identifying their students’ speaking anxiety to apply appropriate and a more effective learning method.

In this study, we analyzed the effects of speaking anxiety of Acehnese students in English learning classroom by looking at the causes of students’ speaking anxiety and their strategies in coping with it. The researchers used purposive sampling to select the participants of this research. Ten respondents from sophomore students of Department of the English Education at Teacher Training Faculty of Ar-Raniry State Islamic University in Aceh, Indonesia were selected by identifying their answers of Foreign Language Speaking Anxiety questionnaires developed by Horwitz et al. (1986). To have in-depth information on the subject matter, a semi-structured interview was employed. The results of this research showed that speaking anxiety caused some negative effects to Acehnese students’ speaking ability, which could be observed through the difficulties in constructing sentences and expressing the idea when they spoke in the target language. Low self-confidence, lack of competency, and being afraid of making mistakes were some of the factors considered as the major causes of speaking anxiety that could debilitate students’ classroom participation.

The Corellation between Students’ Self Confidence and Their Speaking Skill. ( Inthe Second-Grade Students of English Education Department of STKIP Garut)This study was undertaken by the writer because most of English studentsoften got dificulty in English speaking. Especialy in their confident to speakEnglish. To have a good English speaking , the students are expected to be able tobuild,develop and show their confident to use English speaking in any opportunity.Besides that, through self confident the students costumize to use English as daillyCommunication, it is important for the students to get more interaction and practicesin English speak in order they can mastering English speaking skill well.This study was aimed at investigating the corellation between students’ selfconfidence and theirs’ speaking skill. It was intended not only to solve the studentsdificulties in speaking English, But also to answer the main question “ Is there asignificant corellation between students’ self confidence and their speaking skill?”.The writer used the correlational method to find out and investigate whetherthere was a corellation or not between two variabels and how strong it is. Therespondent , Sixty four students of the second grade of English Education Programof STKIP Garut were selected proporsionl stratified randomly. The study began byassigining the students to answer the self confidence questionaries, then the writercollect the students speaking score from first until third which have provided inEnglish program office. Beside that, the writer clasified category for confidennceand took average speaking score from first until third to support the result of thedata analysis.The instrument include two variabels: Students’ self confidence and averageof speaking score list. To analyze the data, the writer used Pearson/Product Testformula to test the corellation and to test hypotesis. The result of the data analysisshowed the coefficient corellation between two variabels is 0,007 (sig = 0,007).Based on this result, it could be concluded that there was a very significantcorellation between students’ self confidence and their speaking skill. For thisreason, the researcher purposed some recomendation for the teacher and thestudents of STKIP Garut. The students suggested that they should build,develop,force and show their confidence of practicies in speaking English.

This research attemted to find out the factors that affect students speaking anxiety in speaking for presentation class. This research was carried out by employing descriptive quantitative design. The population of this research was the fourth semester students of English Education Study Program of University of Bengkulu in academic year 2018/2019. The samples of this research were taken by using random sampling tehcnique, the total of the sample was 57 students. The data were collected by questionnaire consisted of 29 questions related to the anxiety. The results of this study showed that the students mostly had the mildly anxiety. There were three factors that causing the anxiety of the students in speaking; Fear of Negative Evaluation (Mildly Affected; Mean Score: 3.12), Communication Apprehension (Mildly Affected; Mean Score: 3.09), and Test Anxiety (Mildly Affected; Mean Score: 2.89). In conclusion, there were three factors that students speaking anxiety in speaking for presentation class  and the most dominant factors is the Fear of Negative Evaluation

This research was aimed at finding out the errors of English speaking syllable stress by the students of English Education Study Program, University of Bengkulu. The subject of this study was 19 students with highest GPA and speaking and Phonetic phonology score or both of them of English Program. The method of data collection was recorded. The data were collected by recording their pronunciation in reading words stress and Audacity program to analysze the data. The result of this research showed that English Students pronunced syllable words stress in the first syllable and second syllable with average predicate and 2 stresses in a word with low predicate. Meanwhile, this research also found that a lot of students put the stress on the first syllable.

This study aims at identifying the students’ needs in learning English speaking to promote speaking syllabus development. This research was a qualitative descriptive research. The subjects were 63 students of the first, third and fifth semester of English Education Study Program of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Riau Kepulauan University. The data were collected using a questionnaire. The questioner is aimed at gathering information related to the target needs, and wants. The results found that the students target of studying English speaking are for their future profession and for their higher education. They want practicing the English speaking when they are studying, and they want enjoying a lot of speaking activities at the classroom together with their pair or group. They also want the speaking course exist as the English education study curriculum. The students assumed for the role of teacher as a facilitator and guide in the teaching learning activities. Keywords : needs analysis, speaking syllabus development

This article examines the analysis of causal factor on student speaking anxiety. This study is to explain what factors affecting the students speaking anxiety. Moreover, the research data are taken from the second semester students of English Education Study Program, Muhammadiyah University of Metro. This is a descriptive qualitative study and some instruments such as documentation, interview, observation are used in order to collect the data. The data is then analyzed by some steps, like data collection in which writer gathers all of the data that will be used to complete the research. After collecting the data, the writer sorts the data by summarizing and choosing the specific category, displaying the data, verifying the data analysis, and making a conclusion from the finding data. The result of this research shows the students speaking anxiety causal factors in the second semester. Most of the students feel anxious when speaking English in the class. Eventually, some suggestions are discussed in order to help students reduce anxiety and become more confident to speak English in oral language classrooms.

 AbstractSpeaking is one of important aspects of language. Speaking plays an important role in transfering English speaking skill to students as well as the key to the success of teaching learning process of speaking. There are many methods or approaches used by lecturers in the classroom in teaching speaking in university, they however considered not so effective in stimulating students to be more active in speaking and to have more bravery and self confidence to use their own English although they may make more mistakes. Based on the depicted reality, the researcher feels chalenged to know how is the implementation of Community Language Learning (CLL) method, to investigate its strengths and weaknesses, as well as to find out students’ difficulties in teaching s6peaking.This research entitled The Implementation of Community Language Learning (CLL) in Teaching Speaking. This research is conducted on the second semester students of English Education Study Program who are taking Speaking For General Communication II on the second semester students at one of universities in Cianjur. This research aims to know how the implementation of CLL and to investigate its strengths and weaknesses, as well as to find out students’ difficulties in learning speaking through CLL.This research uses qualitative method which employs several techniques in collecting the data. One of the purpose of teaching speaking is the students are able to use English as a means of communication based on the context and situation related to their level of vocabulary mastery. So before we are able to communicate well, we should have a large number of words.The objective of this research is to find out whether vocabulary is influential toward English speaking ability. The populations of this research are 190 students of all the fourth semester in the academic year of 2009-2010. Based on the table of Krecjie, a number of samples are 127 students. The sampling technique used is the simple random sampling technique. To collect the data, the researcher requires two tests, vocabulary and speaking tests.This study yields that there is a positive and significant influence between English vocabulary mastery and the students’ speaking ability, it is proved by the value of correlation coefficient 0.764 which is higher than the value of r table (0.176). It means that the rise of the independent variable (the students’ vocabulary mastery) will be followed by the rise of the dependent variable (English speaking ability). The effective contribution of the students’ vocabulary mastery toward English speaking ability is 58.6%

Lecture courses in the English Language Education Study Program of STKIP Setiabudhi Rangkasbitung are still conducted in face-to-face class, so the students who do not attend lectures cannot know the pronunciation material at that time, because the Pronunciation course is a practical course in the English pronunciation system. The E-Learning Pronunciation is built so that lectures can be carried out anywhere and anytime without reducing the quality of the teaching and learning process. Therefore, the students who are left behind can continue to follow the Pronunciation course material, as well as habituating students in utilizing communication and information technology. E-Learning Pronunciation is important to be built to improve the ability of students’ pronunciation when doing distance learning, so that students are clearer and more firm in understanding Pronunciation so that there are no errors in English pronunciation. Participants in this study were first semester students of English education study programs. This study uses an experimental research design with the Prototype System development method and system of testing uses Black box testing.

This study was aimed to identify the informality of request as politeness strategies used by the students of English Education study Program (English department) of Unrika Batam.The data was obtained from request spoken by the student of English department students. The data taken based on cluster sampling due the homogeneous data. The data was students of morning class of semester seven. This study concluded that The usage of bu, ma, mah (means mother)  five data and yah, pak, and pa (means father or daddy), the speaker respects to the hearer’s face by addressing her as mom. This considered her position is upper position; this does not threaten her face. This is used informally to her mother in relaxed situation. The usage of imperative sentences are four data when the hearer asks her young sister  to take the glass, then the subject asks her big sister to buy her dress, when she asks her young sister to take chilly and when the subject ask the money to pay rental house. This sentences forces her face’s hearer. This shows negative face. The last is speaker states “adek” young sister to her father means to soften request to her father due to the father will usually fulfill the young child.
