The Corellation between Students’ Self Confidence and Their Speaking Skill. ( Inthe Second-Grade Students of English Education Department of STKIP Garut)This study was undertaken by the writer because most of English studentsoften got dificulty in English speaking. Especialy in their confident to speakEnglish. To have a good English speaking , the students are expected to be able tobuild,develop and show their confident to use English speaking in any opportunity.Besides that, through self confident the students costumize to use English as daillyCommunication, it is important for the students to get more interaction and practicesin English speak in order they can mastering English speaking skill well.This study was aimed at investigating the corellation between students’ selfconfidence and theirs’ speaking skill. It was intended not only to solve the studentsdificulties in speaking English, But also to answer the main question “ Is there asignificant corellation between students’ self confidence and their speaking skill?”.The writer used the correlational method to find out and investigate whetherthere was a corellation or not between two variabels and how strong it is. Therespondent , Sixty four students of the second grade of English Education Programof STKIP Garut were selected proporsionl stratified randomly. The study began byassigining the students to answer the self confidence questionaries, then the writercollect the students speaking score from first until third which have provided inEnglish program office. Beside that, the writer clasified category for confidennceand took average speaking score from first until third to support the result of thedata analysis.The instrument include two variabels: Students’ self confidence and averageof speaking score list. To analyze the data, the writer used Pearson/Product Testformula to test the corellation and to test hypotesis. The result of the data analysisshowed the coefficient corellation between two variabels is 0,007 (sig = 0,007).Based on this result, it could be concluded that there was a very significantcorellation between students’ self confidence and their speaking skill. For thisreason, the researcher purposed some recomendation for the teacher and thestudents of STKIP Garut. The students suggested that they should build,develop,force and show their confidence of practicies in speaking English.

Many students usually find it hard to speak in English, because they have not practiced enough. This reason makes them cannot speak English well. Speaking is the skill which student should master it in order to communicate with other people. The situation in the learning process is one of the important things that the teacher should consider. This research aims to know; (1) the students’ achievement of the third semester of English Education Department at the University of Technology Yogyakarta in speaking English using role-play technique on academic year 2018/2019, and (2) the influencing factors to the students’ speaking skill achievement using role-play technique. The method used was quantitative method with experimental design to 9 students as the research sample. The data were analysed using Microsoft Excel 2013. The findings indicated that the mean score increased from 70 to 78.88, the standard deviation also improved from 6.123 to 7.817. Furthermore, the data from questionnaire indicated that the students had positive responses toward the use of role-play technique. Therefore, the use of role-play technique can improve the students’ speaking ability at this experimental research.

This study explores speaking anxiety: the identification of speaking anxiety in English education study program. Using a mixed methods approach, this research selected two different categories, students studying in English Education Department private university and those studying in English Education Department in public university as research participants. The findings suggest that the main factors of speaking anxiety causes at public university were essentially affected by nervousness and idea delivery. Nevertheless, English students in private university claimed that their dominant cause is rooted from self-confidence; considering mistakes and lecturers’ attitude during English speaking performance. This research is beneficial in enriching literature in the scope of English education department, especially in Indonesia and others state adopting English as foreign language. It is crucial to note that students’ voice is worth to listen, as a reflection for English teachers or lecturers identifying their students’ speaking anxiety to apply appropriate and a more effective learning method.

This research focuses on students' English speaking problems, and this research aims to find out the most dominant problem of speaking in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) situation faced by the students of English Departement at Tidar University. The research method used in this research is the qualitative method. The writer uses a questionnaire as a tool for data collection. From the questionnaire, the problems that most dominant faced by the English education students of the English Department at Tidar University is Linguistic problems. Linguistic problems include less grammar, lack of vocabulary, and poor pronunciation. The next is psychological problems include, including lack of self-confidence, anxiety, and shyness. Meanwhile, instructor related problems did not have much effect on speaking problems for the students. In conclusion, Linguistic problems are the most dominant problem faced by the English education students of the English Department at Tidar University.

The challenging nature of speaking English in connection to organization activeness of university students lead to some issues. The scarcity of research on that area was amongst the rationales behind conducting this present study. This study aimed to investigate students' perception on organization activeness in improving English speaking ability. A phenomenon in the background of this study indicates the significance of organizational activities fot university students and the salient of English in educational context. This study was conducted at State Islamic University of Sunan Ampel Surabaya participated by 30 students of English Education department whom have actively involved the intra or extra campus organization. The instrument used to collect data for this study was a questionnaire that has been tested for its its validity and reliability. The results of the present study revealed that the student generally demonstrated their positive reflections on that the organizational activeness contributes to improving their English speaking ability.

This study examines the improvement of student speaking skill through content-based students’ English speaking skill. More specificly, this study : (1) finding to what extent content-based instruction improved the students’ speaking skill; and (2) to describe the teaching and learning situation when content-based instruction was applied in the speaking class. This study applied action research technique to conduct the research which is consisted of two cycles, with four meetings in each cycle; while each cycle consists planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research was conducted at Poltekpar Lombok Praya; the subjects of the research were the university students of second grade in the Academic year of 2018-2019. This study reveals that the teaching using CBI was effective in two aspects: (1) in improving students’ speaking ability: students’ speaking level increased; students could answer the teacher’s questions; students could fluently communicate with their friends by using correct grammatical forms and appropriate vocabulary with good pronunciation; the use of mother tongue was reduced; (2) in improving class situation: the atmosphere in the whole class became alive; students enjoyed the speaking activities; there were many chances for students to practice their speaking skill; students had great motivation to learn speaking; speaking became easy and fun to the students. This study futher showed that CBI was effective and beneficial to improve the students’ speaking competency and the classroom situation.

The objective of the research was to find out whether or not describing people improve students’ self-confidence in speaking skill by the second grade of SMK Kristen Makale. In doing this research, the writer used quantitative method. The population of this research was the second grade students which consist of 139 students and divided into eight classes. This research employs a cluster sampling where the writer took only 25 students as respondents. The instrument that used by the writer in collecting data is questionnaire. The result of this research found that describing people could improve students’ self-confidence in speaking. It was proved by the mean score of the students in questionnaire one (Q1) is 67.88 (precisely self-confidence level) and students mean score in questionnaire two (Q2) is 79.76 (medium self-confidence level). It means that the students have shown raising the self-confidence level from precisely into the medium after learning using describing people.

 AbstractSpeaking is one of important aspects of language. Speaking plays an important role in transfering English speaking skill to students as well as the key to the success of teaching learning process of speaking. There are many methods or approaches used by lecturers in the classroom in teaching speaking in university, they however considered not so effective in stimulating students to be more active in speaking and to have more bravery and self confidence to use their own English although they may make more mistakes. Based on the depicted reality, the researcher feels chalenged to know how is the implementation of Community Language Learning (CLL) method, to investigate its strengths and weaknesses, as well as to find out students’ difficulties in teaching s6peaking.This research entitled The Implementation of Community Language Learning (CLL) in Teaching Speaking. This research is conducted on the second semester students of English Education Study Program who are taking Speaking For General Communication II on the second semester students at one of universities in Cianjur. This research aims to know how the implementation of CLL and to investigate its strengths and weaknesses, as well as to find out students’ difficulties in learning speaking through CLL.This research uses qualitative method which employs several techniques in collecting the data. The background of the study was the phenomenon of the first semester students of class A English Language Education Department at STAIN Mandailing Natal. Most of them were seldom using English in everyday activity because they did not have enough motivation, adequate vocabulary, and self-confidence. To activate their speaking skill ability, it was used their speaking video recording. By this, they did not only speak, but also involved in correcting, commenting and evaluating their performance in speaking skill. It was productive solution to overcome their problem. The respondents of this study were 15 first semester students Class A English language Education department in STAIN Mandailing Natal. This study was categorized into Class Action Research (CAR). The method of data collection used in this study was form test of speaking video recording which was measuring seven aspects of speaking skill, they were (1) pronunciation, (2) fluency, (3) word choice, (4) structure, (5) self-confidence, (6) teamwork and (7) creativity. The result of cycle 1 showed that the students’ average score in speaking skill was 7.2. In the cycle 2, the students achieved far better average score namely 8.4. It means there was a progress on students’ speaking skill achievement after learning through speaking video recording. The conclusion was the use of speaking video recording was able to improve the students’ speaking ability because they were brave, motivated and interested to express English as the way they wanted it.

The aim of this research is to figure out the correlation between chatting online and students’ speaking achievement. The method of this research was correlation method. The researchers used this research because they wanted to find out the degree of relationship students chatting online and their speaking skill achievement in English Education Department of IKIP Siliwangi in the academic year 2015. The data were gathered from the questionnaires and speaking tests, then were analyzed by Spearman Rank in SPSS V.23. The result showed that the score of Spearman Rank test is 0.299. It was defined that there is low correlation between two variables. In other words, there was no significance correlation between students chatting online and their speaking achievement.

This study aims to recognize the problems that students of English department face when they speak English. To achieve the objective of the investigation a quantitative research was designed. A questionnaire was used as the main data collection tool. The findings of the study showed that majority of the students have a positive perception about importance and necessity of speaking skill. According to the findings most of the students do not have the opportunity of practicing English speaking out of the class. Moreover, dissimilarity in English education background of the students are another challenge which is recognized in outcome of the study. Furthermore, the findings showed that most of the students feel motivated and confident in speaking performance. Moreover, the findings also revealed that the teachers have significant role for motivating the students in speaking performance. To sum up, the result exposed that students are appreciated and praised when they perform a speaking task efficiently.
