Trueperella is a harmless bacterium in intestinal tracts of ruminants like deer, cattle, and pigs, but if it migrates out of the intestine to other areas of an animal’s body and proliferates, it can make the animal sick. Trueperella causes many problems in deer, including lesions, abscesses, and pneumonia, and it is one of the types of bacteria that is known to contribute to the disease lumpy jaw. : Stroke is an important cause of death and disability, and it is the second leading cause of death worldwide. In humans, middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) is the most common cause of ischemic stroke. The damage occurs due to the lack of nutrients and oxygen contributed by the blood flow. : The present review aims to analyze to what extent the lack of each of the elements of the system leads to damage and which mechanisms are unaffected by this deficiency. We believe that the specific analysis of the effect of lack of each component could lead to the emergence of new therapeutic targets for this important brain pathology.

Such perspectives medicalise social and personal distress and suggest individual and medication-based treatments. This editorial argues for the need to examine suicide from a public health perspective and suggests the need for population-based social and economic interventions.

Aim: To find the prevalence of choroidal tubercles in tuberculosis patients. Introduction: Tuberculosis is the most common cause of infectious cause of death especially in endemic countries. Tuberculosis infection spreads hematogenously from primary infection site to rest of the body. Ocular presentation manifests in the form of choroidal tubercles being the most common fundus change. Materials and Methods: It was a retrospective, observational hospital-based study. Total 100 tuberculosis patients were studied and their data were collected from Hospital record system from February 2020 to March 2021. Fundus examinations were reviewed and most common ocular presentation was found to be choroidal tubercles. Observations and Results: During the study period, out of 100 patients, 60% were females and 40% were males. Fundus changes were present in 14% patients and these were choroidal tubercles in 12% patients and papillitis in 2%. Choroidal tubercles were present in 7 females and 5 males. Conclusion: We concluded that choroidal tubercles is one of the most common form of ocular tuberculosis. Detection of choroidal inflammation can prevent visual loss as the ocular lesion resolves fully with timely management.

Stroke is the third most common cause of death, and the most common cause of disability in developed countries. This chapter examines the genetics of stroke, and single gene causes (although stroke is often just one component of the phenotype). It then describes Anderson—Fabry disease, CADASIL, RVCL, autosomal-dominant porencephaly and infantile hemiparesis, hereditary cerebral haemorrhage with amyloidosis, Moya-Moya disease, sickle cell disease, and MELAS.

Airway obstruction is the most common cause of death in the prehospital environment. It is estimated that 85% of these patients had otherwise survivable injuries. The aim of the project was to increase firefighters' skills in airway management techniques, to include the laryngeal mask airway (LMA), by providing theatre-based hospital placements under the supervision of a consultant anaesthetist. The training in the use of the LMA by firefighters is currently a pilot project to assess the potential for its use operationally, based on ease of training to a competent level and retention of skills after one year.

Allograft failure secondary to recurrence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is the most common cause of death and retransplantation among recipients with HCV infection. It has been suggested that patients transplanted for HCV have had worse outcomes in more recent years than in previous years (the ‘era effect’). A Canadian transplantation registry database was analyzed to determine the outcomes of patients transplanted over the years for HCV. The results of the present analysis of 1002 patients show that the ‘era effect’ was not seen in liver transplantation recipients with HCV in Canada, because no survival difference was noted based on the year of transplantation. All groups had overall two-year and five-year survival rates of 76% to 83% and 69% to 72%, respectively. The present study’s national results prove continued benefit to transplantation of HCV patients.

In Cukurova region, pesticide poisonings still remain an unfortunate cause of death, which led to the present study. The autopsy records of Adana Branch of the Council of Forensic Medicine, between 2006 and 2008, were evaluated retrospectively. Deaths that were attributed to pesticide poisoning were included in the scope of the study to identify the type of pesticide, and etiology of intoxication. The frequency and distribution of intoxications were also analyzed in terms of sex and age. In the studied period, a total of 4199 autopsies were referred to the forensic toxicology laboratory for pesticide analysis. Seventy-two cases were positive for pesticide analysis. Of these, 42 (58.33%) were male and 30 (41.67%) were female, with a mean age of 38.8 ± 20.6 years. Among the inspected pesticides, endosulfan was found to be the most common with 47.2% of prevalence, followed by dichlorvos. This report showed that certain pesticides, endosulfan in particular, remains as common cause of poisonings in Cukurova region.
