There is an abundance of studies on work engagement found in the literature. However, there is a lack of grounded research framework to be based on relating stress to work engagement of Malaysian private academics. Therefore, this study is aimed at 1). reviewing the literature on stress and work engagement; 2). applying the ASSET model of stress to work engagement; 3). hypothesizing the relationships among these variables, and 4). deriving a conceptual framework. Based on the literature review on psychological literature and the application of the ASSET model of stress, the paper proposes a model of the relationship between stress and work engagement through commitment and health. Suggestions for practice and future research are also presented. Keywords— ASSET, Malaysian private academics, stress, work engagement.

BACKGROUND During the COVID-19 pandemic, people are being encouraged to maintain social distance. Technology is helping people to reschedule meetings from “face-to-face” interactions to remote videoconferencing. Psychologists are in high demand, due to an increase in stress as a result of COVID. Many seek to both keep treating their current patients, and welcome new ones, given the current high demand for their services. Videoconferencing provides an opportunity to do this. However, shifting treatment from face-to-face to the videoconferencing is not simple as both the psychologist and the patient miss the in-person information and cues, such as body language provides. OBJECTIVE A new theoretical framework is proposed to guide the design of future studies on the impact of the computer as a mediator of psychologist-patient relationships, and the influence of videoconferencing on the whole relationship process. METHODS A literature review has been conducted, screening studies focusing on communication, and the key concepts of therapeutic relationship and therapeutic alliance. RESULTS Studies report that patients are generally satisfied with videoconference therapy in terms of the relationship with their therapists and the establishment of the “therapeutic alliance”. However, psychologists report difficulties in establishing same quality of therapeutic relationship and therapeutic alliance. The analysed studies lead us to interpret data under a different perspective. A new model of relationship is proposed, along with further hypotheses. CONCLUSIONS It is important to consider the computer as having an active role in psychologists and patients’ relationships. CLINICALTRIAL

ABSTRACT An understanding of the complex interaction between oil and shoreline sediments in nearshore areas after an oil spill is essential for more accurate oil spill risk analysis modeling. In particular, an estimation of the degree to which shoreline sediments hold and retain oil during the 10–30 days after a spill is required for modeling the fate and trajectory of oil as it impacts a shoreline and either strands on or penetrates into the sediment or refloats to be deposited elsewhere. A comprehensive literature review of empirical studies, laboratory research, and oil-shoreline modeling was conducted. For a spill risk model to be applied in a stochastic manner, a relatively simple and practical method to estimate the oil holding capacity of shoreline sediments based on shoreline type and oil properties was derived from empirical shoreline cleanup assessment team (SCAT) data and a theoretical hydraulics model. The suggested methodology can be applied by spill modelers needing a way to estimate the amount of oil held by a shoreline upon impact to allow a trajectory model to more accurately project the total spread of oil.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to conceptualise the relationship between information disclosure andWaqifcommitment, taking into consideration the role of level of trust (mediator variable) and communication and type of payment (moderator variables).Design/methodology/approachThe conceptual framework is developed from the theory of social exchange (mediated philanthropy model) and selected previous literature concerning commitment.FindingsAccording to previous empirical research, a conceptual framework was developed to facilitate further analysis in the study. Nine propositions were raised in this paper where the factor of communication and payment method is proposed to no longer the factor that determined commitment but as moderator. There is five antecedent of information disclosure proposed, which is basic information, financial information, non-financial information, future information and governance information. Also, trust is offered to be the mediator variable between information disclosure andWaqfcommitment.Research limitations/implicationsBy realising many factors that may influence the commitment ofwaqfsuch as demonstrable utility, emotional utility and familial utility, this study only focusses on the effect of information disclosure.Practical implicationsThis paper provides an opportunity for further empirical studies to prove the relationship between information disclosure andWaqfcommitment. This paper also brought opportunities to investigate both conceptually and empirically, other factors that could affectWaqfcommitment.Originality/valueTo the best of the author’s knowledge, few studies have been done concerning donors commitment. While there are none yet, the research examinedWaqfcommitment. The originality value of this study is that there is a gap in knowledge regarding the analysis ofWaqfcommitment, the level of trust amongwaqifis the information thatWaqfexpected, the preferred communication between Mutawalli andWaqfand type of payment thatWaqffavoured. This study is believed to be a novel based on the framework developed.

Software refactoring is an approach that aims to improve software system quality by restructuring its internal design without altering the functionality of the software system. The software refactoring has gained comprehensive attention from the research community in software engineering since its emerging in 1999. Empirical studies were carried out to investigate whether the software refactoring indeed can achieve improvement in the software system quality. It is widely believed that refactoring has a favorable quality impact. However, several researchers have opposed this belief. This paper presents a systematic literature review (SLR) of the empirical studies that have been conducted in the industrial setting. Twenty studies were chosen and analyzed in depth as primary studies. The objectives of this SLR are to identify the refactoring techniques examined, and software quality attributes investigated as well as to analyze the connection between the refactoring techniques and the software quality attributes based on the selected empirical studies to understand the situation. The findings showed a lack of empirical research on the effect of the refactoring on software quality. Additionally, the relationship between the refactoring techniques and software quality attributes is unclear. Thus, several recommendations have been proposed to address these gaps.

This research aims to synthesize the scales of aesthetics, the perceived value of the consumers for the intention to buy smartphones. At the same time, this analyzes the relationship between aesthetics, perceived value and intention to purchase, thereby the study suggests the research model which can be applied in other places, other contexts, and related fields. The method in this study is to summarize the systematics theories and compare the relevant studies. As a result, this research can develop research hypotheses. The main results of the proposed model are to explore the scales and find out the relationship between aesthetics, perceived value and intention to buy smartphones directly and indirectly. Moreover, empirical research can, based on the proposed conceptual framework, be studied for different countries or technology-related products such as computers, tablets, and other smart devices.

Purpose Although logistics management is a crucial part of local and global sports events, there is no research-driven characterization of “sports logistics management”. The purpose of this paper is to conceptualize a framework that allows for a more structured recognition of logistics in sports, in general, and sport event management, in particular. In addition, we conduct a systematic literature review of sports logistics management and locate opportunities for future research both for sports management and logistics management scholars. Design/methodology/approach Guided by Durach et al.’s (2017) systematic literature review approach, we identify key attributes and characteristics of sports logistics management. These are based on studies featuring at least partial aspects of logistics management in sports and sport events, and that were published between 2000 and mid-2019. Findings The study reveals that sports logistics management – meaning logistics activities in sports and sport event management – is a heavily under-researched area that provides an abundance of scientific opportunities. Based on the three sport event types of local/regional sport events, major sport events and mega sport events, the authors propose four sports logistics management pillars that are central to the proposed Sport Logistics Framework: venue logistics management, sports equipment logistics management, athletes logistics management, and fan and spectators logistics management. Practical implications By providing a conceptual framework for sports logistics, the authors progress towards informing the sport sector on relevant strategic and operational levels of logistics management and set the stage for empirical studies that are likely to advance sport logistics planning and management. Originality/value This is the first study that builds on a systematic review of literature specifically focused on the logistics aspect in sports and sport event management. It provides a conceptual framework of sports logistics management and offers an agenda of future research opportunities.

Purpose Recognising the value of positive organisational behaviour at the workplace, this paper aims to provide a major review of the current state of research on positivity, and subsequently proposes new pathways for more theory building relating to important constructs conceptually related to positivity. Following the integration of emerging but disparate research on workplace positivity and related concepts, the paper develops a conceptual framework depicting the relationships amongst authentic leader behaviours, organisational virtuousness, psychological capital, thriving and job performance. Design/methodology/approach The paper offers a systematic critical review of published studies representing the literature addressing authentic leadership, organisational virtuousness, thriving, psychological capital and job performance. The paper relied on computerised keyword searches in the main business source databases of Emerald, ProQuest, ScienceDirect, EBSCOhost and SpringerLink. Findings This paper leads to a conceptual framework proposing direct relationships between authentic leadership, psychological capital, organisational virtuousness and job performance. Further, authentic leadership is proposed to potentially nurture organisational virtuousness, psychological capital, employee thriving and job performance, given the theoretical linkages between these conceptually relevant variables related to positivity. Additionally, organisational virtuousness and psychological capital are projected to mediate the relationship between authentic leadership and employee thriving. Finally, organisational virtuousness, psychological capital and employee thriving are designated as mediators of the relationship between authentic leadership and job performance. Research limitations/implications This paper proposes a conceptual framework focusing on one form of positive leader behaviour and also assumes specific causal pathways using a positivistic research approach to understanding the leadership–performance relationship. The paper did not examine all possible antecedents of positivity at the workplace. Practical implications The proposed conceptual framework should form the basis of many organisational interventions, especially in relation to boosting authentic leadership, organisational virtuousness, psychological capital, employee thriving and job performance. By suggesting the association between authentic leadership, psychological capital and organisational virtuousness, this paper highlights potential benefits from effective leaders’ commitment to enhancing psychological capital and organisational virtuousness and engendering thriving behaviour and job performance. Originality/value This novel paper has the potential to stimulate the empirical studies on workplace positivity through the association of authentic leadership, psychological capital, organisational virtuousness and thriving.
