Oreochromis leucostictus is one of the commercially important tilapiine in Lake Naivasha. Its stock in the lake has declined due to the effect of fishing and pollution. This study investigated on its length-weight relationship, condition factor, sex ratio and maturity. Fish samples (233) were caught using gillnets of mesh-sizes 2-5 inches. Each individual fish was measured (cm) and weighed (g) in the field. The specimens were preserved in ice and transported to the laboratory for analysis of maturity. The mean (±SE) total length and weight for all fish was 21.3±0.3 cm TL and 187.4±8.3 g, respectively. Males 22.3±0.4 cm were significantly larger than females 19.2±0.5 cm. The mean condition factor was 1.06, 0.99 and 1.04 for male, female and combined sexes, respectively. The overall population sex ratio was 2.19:1.0 (male: female) that deviated significantly from 1:1. The slope b of the length-weight relationship was 1.92, 3.07, 2.33 for males, females, and combined sexes, respectively. Length at 50% maturity was estimated at 21.0 cm for females and 26.0 cm for males. Ripe oocytes and testis were found in all fish sizes. Comparisons with earlier studies suggest that the parameters of its growth, condition and maturity vary greatly from the different habitats.

The study was carried out to determine length-weight relationship and sex ratio of a freshwater fish Amblypharyngodon mola (Hamilton 1822) collected from Dekar haor of Sunamganj district during the period of January to August 2017. A total of 2000 fishes were collected for the study and categorized these fishes into three groups namely males, females and combined sexes. Among 2000 mola 777 were male and 1223 were female. Length-weight equations and the correlation coefficients obtained for males, females and combined ones were: males Y = –1.97 + 3.00X, r = 0.883; females Y = –2.30 + 3.41X, r = 0.914 and combined Y = –2.11 + 3.16X, r = 0.904. Female’s A. mola attained more weight with the increases in length. Value of correlation coefficient ‘r’ was 0.883 for male and exhibited highly positive correlation between length and weight. On the contrary, ‘r’ value for female was 0.914 and it had also strongly positive correlation between length and weight relationships. Length-weight relationship of A. mola for male, female and combined sexes showed allometric pattern of growth. Condition factor ‘K’ for male, female and combined sexes was 1.09, 1.05 and 1.06, respectively and indicated better condition of fishes. The highest sex ratio (1 : 2.05) was found in May and the lowest (1 : 1.33) was in February. Dominance of females over males throughout the year was observed with an average ratio of male and female 1 : 1.57. Therefore, results of the study indicate that the existing hydrobiological conditions of the haor are conducive for food availability, free movement, feeding and better growth of the fish. Asiat. The research was conducted in December 2016 in Totok Bay, Ratatotok Subdistrict, with the aim to know the size structure, growth pattern and condition factor of red lolosi fish (Caesio chrysozona). It is expected that this research can provide basic information to monitor the presence of these fish in the future, especially in the territorial waters of Ratatotok. The name of red lolosi fish is a local name in North Sulawesi. Fish with the scientific name Caesio chrysozona is commonly found around the coral reefs and shallow rocky coastal waters. Data were collected in the field by taking a random sample of fish from the catch of fishermen who are still in a fishing boat. The number of fish samples taken to be analyzed were 66. Based on the measurement of 66 individuals of red lolosi, the structure size is as follows: male (51 head) with total length of 180 mm - 259 mm, length of fork 153 mm - 216 mm, and raw length 135mm - 200 mm. While body weight ranges from 71.38 gr - 217.18 grams and females (15 fish) with a total length range of 196 mm - 243 mm, fork length of 165 mm - 209 mm, and standard length of 149 mm - 185 mm. While body weight ranges from 110.22 gr - 193.99 gr. The growth pattern of red lolosi fish both male and female is a negative allometric growth pattern (b <3) where the length of fish increase faster than weight gain. The condition factor of each individual male and female varies with the value of the male condition factor ranging from 0.8094 - 1.2547 and females ranged from 0.9668 to 1.0281. Because the value of K ranged 1 then the conclusion is that male and female of red lolosi fish have a less flat shape. This causes the loss of weight of fish due to the influence of food, age, sex and gonad maturity.

The present investigation was carried out for establishing the length weight relationship and to enumerate the relative condition factor and the sex ratio of Neolissochilus hexagonolepis from Tamor River, Nepal. Altogether 198 fishes were investigated from December 2014 till the end of November 2016. The sex ratio of the fish was found to be in the ratio of 1:1.2 with female dominating the catch for most parts of the year. Analysis of t-test showed a highly significant relationship (p˂0.05) between length and weight for male, female and sexes pooled. The fish was found to show isometric growth pattern with exponential value (b) equal to 2.962 for sexes pooled. The mean value of Fulton's condition factor (K) for sexes pooled was found to be 1.29 ± 0.49 giving the indication that the general well being of the fish was good. Sudden increase in the value of relative condition factor (Kn) in the size group 30-33 cm in male and 42-45 cm in female indicated their length range during which they showed the sign of maturation for the first time. Steep fall in the value of 'Kn' in size groups 33-36 cm onwards in male and 45-48 cm in female indicated their length range at spent phase.

Coptodon zilli and Micropterus salmoides were introduced into Lake Naivasha in 1929 and 1959 respectively. The reasons for the introduction were to boost the fisheries and for recreational fishing respectively. However, the numbers of the two fish species in the lake have been declining over the years. It is therefore necessary to assess various aspects of their growth such as length-weight relationship, condition factor, sex ratio and length at first maturity to inform management and policy making for enhanced recovery and establishment of their populations. Length-weight relationship, condition factor, sex ratio and length at first maturity of the fish were studied from October 2016 to November 2018. A total of 303 fish samples; 193 C. zilli and 110 M. salmoides were studied. Results showed that C. zilli and M. salmoides had an allometry coefficient value of 2.9 and 3.1 and condition factor (K) value of 1.77 and 1.39 respectively. The sex ratios (male: female) of C. zilli and M. salmoides were 1.1:1 and 1.3: 1 respectively. The shortest total length for mature C. zilli and M. salmoides recorded were 12 cm and 26.5 cm while 21.8 cm and 51 cm were for the longest respectively. The fish growth pattern therefore failed to obey the cube law of b=3 thus exhibiting allometric growth. The two fish species were found to be in good condition with K factor above 1. It can therefore be concluded that the fish are generally in a good condition though the early maturity especially for C. zilli could be a sign of pressure either from environmental factors or human induced. Domination of the species by males, although a common feature in African lakes, is a case for concern since it presents uncertainty on the future of the fisheries. Restocking of Lake Naivasha with the two fish species should be considered and proper fishing practices enforced

This research aimed to know the length-weight relationship, condition factor, and otolith shape of marble goby (Oxyeleotris marmorata Blkr.) at Sermo Reservoir Yogyakarta. In total 211 samples (95 males and 116 females) were collected using gillnet and folded trap (bubu). Each sample was observed for sex determination, and then measured its total length, body weight, and otoliths diameter. The data were analyzed to determine the length and weight distribution, length-weight relationship, condition factor, and length-otolith diameter relationship. The result showed that the total length of the male was ranged 12.0-38.2 cm and female was ranged 12.2-44.5 cm. The weight of the male was ranged 21.0-704.8 g and female was ranged 21.1-1593.7 g. Both male and female have positive allometric growth with the equation W=0.0056L3.2894 for male and W=0.0051L3.311 for female. Condition factor was ranged 0.787-1.313 for male and 0.800-1.379 for female, and the majority of fish has a good condition (Kn ≥0.95 more than 50%). The shape of otolith edge was sinuate surrounded with regular wave-like curves, the diameter was increased in line with increasing of total body length by an equation of Y=0.2335+0.0248X (r=0.938).

Length-weight relationship (LWR), sex ratio and maturity of Fenneropenaeus indicus (H. Milne Edwards, 1837), was analysed based on samplings from coastal trawl fishing grounds in the Arabian Sea off Kerala coast, India. The male tofemale ratio (1:1.27) did not vary significantly from the hypothetical 1:1 ratio. Length at maturity (Lm50) was estimated at 122 mm total length for females. The LWR did not differ significantly between male and female shrimps. The information generated from this study will enhance knowledge on the biology of the species and assist in assessment and management of its stock.
