INTRODUCTION: Nowadays, paying attention to the significance of football stadiums as important urban facilities and applying the principles of passive defense in them are among critical areas in the field of urban management. Given that, the primary goal of the present research is to investigate the pathology of football stadiums with an emphasis on passive defense. METHODS: The present study is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-analytical in terms of the research approach. Data collection was accomplished through documentary and field studies. In the documentary domain, information and data were gathered from the website of sports complexes, publications, and brochures. Regarding the field domain, spatial data related to the city of Mashhad were collected from the database and field studies in the form of observations and interviews with stadium officials. The target stadiums in the present study are Takhti and Imam Reza stadiums, which were studied based on two main criteria of design and location selection based on the principles of passive defense. After specifying the indicators, Arc GIS software was used to perform data analysis and spatial analysis operations. FINDINGS: The research findings indicate that the most significant weaknesses of Takhti Stadium are the lack of access to first and secondary arterial roads, the presence of intersections and heavy traffic near the stadium, inadequate open space and parking lots, and lack of automatic fire suppression systems. The drawbacks of Imam Reza Stadium include the absence of shelter, no access to the subway stations, no direct access to primary arterial roads, and the absence of entrance and exit passageways in the stadium. CONCLUSION: The results indicate the fact that paying attention to the indicators and criteria of passive defense can extensively conserve and maintain sports facilities at times of crisis.

The use of outdoor (open) spaces in public buildings is vast and has significant roles ranging from individual (users) perception of the development of urban centers and cities to the satisfaction of the various functions they perform. However, little research is available on the use of the outdoor spaces in these Public buildings environment and the activities that take place thereof. This study investigates the factors that take users of public buildings to the outdoor environment and the physical factors that constitute their uses within the spaces. Using both qualitative and quantitative research approach, the paper examined the importance of restructuring the outdoor spaces for quality of the surrounding of the built environment. The study adopts a purposive sampling where participants were selected based on the outdoor use only. A total of seventy (75) questionnaires were administered to the various users of public buildings within specific open spaces. Only seventy (70) representing (93.33%) of the total population were returned and subjected to data analysis using the relevant descriptive and inferential statistical techniques, Mean Weighted Score (MWS) and Relatively Important Index (R.I.I) were used to rank features obtained. The study concludes that proper restructuring of landscape elements is necessary within public buildings, in order to provide human comfort, well-being and improved productivity. It was recommended that revitalizing the environmental features of these public building necessitates the insufficiency of outdoor features in government own buildings. Therefore, the user’s satisfaction of this outdoor (open) space in public buildings should be key consideration and emphasized on right from planning and design stages to it implementation.

Interaksi antar civitas akademika dapat terjadi karena kenyamanan beraktifitas. Ruang yang responsif terhadap aktifitas memiliki kriteria, salah satunya dalam kenyamanan spatial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kenyamanan spatial di ruang terbuka publik itenas. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan metoda kualitatif dengan pengambilan data melalui observasi, kuesioner dan dokumentasi di periode waktu tertentu. Metoda analisis menggunakan metoda deskriptif. Hasil penelitian teridentifikasi hanya beberapa tempat yang menjadi titik kumpul mahasiswa dengan kenyamanan spatial tercapai dengan alasan tempat tersebut masuk kategori area teduh dan nyaman. Walaupun dari sisi elemen publik space di beberapa tempat belum terlengkapi namun mahasiswa dapat menggunakan elemen lain untuk mendukung aktifitasnya.Kata kunci: Sustainable Site, ruang terbuka publik kampus, kenyamanan spasial, Itenas.ABSTRACTPublic open space in the campus area is formed from the pattern of building order that can be a catalyst for the development of interaction and community academic community. Interaction among academic community can occur because of the convenience of activity. Space that is responsive to activity has criteria, one of which is in spatial comfort. This study aims to identify the spatial comfort in public space itenas. The research approach uses qualitative method with data retrieval through observation, questionnaire and documentation in certain time period. The method of analysis using descriptive method. The results of the study identified only a few places that became a student gathering point with the spatial comfort is achieved by reason of the place into the category of shady areas and comfortable. Although in terms of elements of public space in some places have not been completed but students can use other elements to support theirs activities.Keywords: Sustainable Site, Public open space in campus, spatial comfort, Itenas.

At present, the complex nature of the impact on the ecosystem in regions with intensive mining creates a multidimensional information “plume” consisting of data on mineral reserves, the state of mining operations, accumulated, current and future environmental pollution. The transition to the lean use of the subsoil and the reasonable disposal of mining waste requires fundamentally new forms of environmental information accumulation and processing during designing new enterprises and regulating the activities of existing ones. The most promising form of information support for the greening of mining is a geoportal. It is a complex of software and technological support for working with spatial data. Its key task is to provide the users with tools and services for storing and cataloging, publishing and loading spatial and environmental data, searching and filtering by metadata, interactive web visualization, direct access to geodata based on map web services.

A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a digital technology that integrates hardware and software to analyze, store, and map spatial data. GIS allows users to visualize (i.e., map) geographic aspects of data including locations or spatial concentrations of phenomena of interest. Though public health and other social work related fields have embraced the use of GIS technology in research, social work lags behind. Recent technological advancements in the field of GIS have transformed what was once prohibitively expensive, “experts only” desktop software into a viable method for researchers with little prior GIS knowledge. Further, humanist and participatory geographers have developed critical, non-quantitative GIS approaches that bring to light new opportunities relevant to social workers. These tools could have particular utility for qualitative social workers because they can help us better understand the environmental context in which our clients reside and give credence to their assessments of strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for intervention. This article provides an introductory overview of the history of GIS in social work research and describes opportunities to use spatially informed approaches in qualitative social work research using a case study of a participatory photo mapping research study.

Ecological monitoring aims to provide estimates of pest species abundance—this information being then used for making decisions about means of control. For invertebrate species, population size estimates are often based on trap counts which provide the value of the population density at the traps' location. However, the use of traps in large numbers is problematic as it is costly and may also be disruptive to agricultural procedures. Therefore, the challenge is to obtain a reliable population size estimate from sparse spatial data. The approach we develop in this paper is based on the ideas of numerical integration on a coarse grid. We investigate several methods of numerical integration in order to understand how badly the lack of spatial data can affect the accuracy of results. We first test our approach on simulation data mimicking spatial population distributions of different complexity. We show that, rather counterintuitively, a robust estimate of the population size can be obtained from just a few traps, even when the population distribution has a highly complicated spatial structure. We obtain an estimate of the minimum number of traps required to calculate the population size with good accuracy. We then apply our approach to field data to confirm that the number of trap/sampling locations can be much fewer than has been used in many monitoring programmes. We also show that the accuracy of our approach is greater that that of the statistical method commonly used in field studies. Finally, we discuss the implications of our findings for ecological monitoring practice and show that the use of trap numbers ‘smaller than minimum’ may still be possible but it would result in a paradigm shift: the population size estimates should be treated probabilistically and the arising uncertainty may introduce additional risk in decision-making.

Facing the particularity of the current limitations and spatial clustering clustering methods, the objective function from concept clustering starting to GIS spatial data management and spatial analysis for technical support, explores the space between the sample direct access to the distance calculated distance and indirect reach up costs. K samples randomly selected as the cluster center, with space for the sample to reach the center of each cluster sample is divided according to the distance, the sum of the spatial clustering center of the sample to reach its cost objective function for clustering, introduction of genetic algorithm, a spatial clustering algorithm based on GIS. Finally, the algorithm is tested by examples.

The existence of legal events in the form of death results in inheritance regulated by certain inheritance laws. In Indonesia, there is still inheritance legal pluralism, including civil inheritance law, Islamic inheritance law and customary inheritance law. In Melayu Siak community, where Islamic law and customary law are their living laws, there are differences in those two laws regarding the inheritance which then raises the question of which law will apply. This study utilizes a qualitative descriptive method with an empirical juridical legal research approach. Research data are collected through field studies by conducting interviews with the respondents to obtain primary data and literature studies to obtain secondary data. The focus of this research is to find out and analyze inheritance over the community property in Melayu Siak community. The results of the study show that 1) there is a relationship between the kinship system and the existence of the community property. 2) the inheritance in Melayu Siak community is based on the Islamic inheritance law and its implementation is carried out based on the results of the deliberation.

Behavioral research studies propose that urban open spaces contribute to enhance sociability in urban areas. The urban areas in the city of Abu Dhabi are less appealing to attract vibrant activity and social life. This study investigates the role of the built environment in the enhancement of neighborhood satisfaction and social capital in a residential neighborhood of Abu Dhabi. A total of 145 residents were surveyed for their perception, attitude, and behavior. Regression analyses to predict the role of the built environment of the open space, as well as the ethnicity of respondents, on measures of neighborhood satisfaction and social capital were performed. Spatial data and audit tools were used to assess the lack of suitable built-environment in the study area. Results indicate that improvements to the built environment can improve both the social capital and neighborhood satisfaction of the urban residents of Abu Dhabi. Implications of this study include recommendations to enhance the experience of urban spaces in arid regions like Abu Dhabi. Recommendations include adding landscape elements, providing a comfortable walking environment, adding attractive locations and destinations, and a clean and safe environment with attractive buildings or homes.

Molecular studies show that canid breeding systems are more complex than field data have sometimes suggested. For example, microsatellite DNA fingerprints of offspring and adults within their social group indicate that many canid species thought to form monogamous pairs engage in polygyny, polyandry, and plural breeding. In many areas, arctic foxes ( Alopex lagopus (L., 1758)) are considered monogamous, with the complexity of their social systems increasing as population isolation increases. We combined a genetic approach with spatial data of arctic foxes on Bylot Island, Nunavut, Canada, to investigate breeding patterns in a population less isolated than many previously studied. As in previous field studies, single breeding pairs were most common, but one case of plural breeding and one case of polyandry with multiple paternity were also observed. Reproductive output in arctic foxes is closely tied to the productivity of their habitat in a given year; we support the hypothesis that abundant resources at our study site have also contributed to complex breeding patterns among resident foxes. We also suggest that increased genetic variation among offspring of multiply mated females may provide an additional adaptive advantage to species in uncertain environments.
