This study deals with the phenomenon while language can be lost slowly if it can't be defended. This happens along with the rapid development of the era towards modernization which is feared that in the future, the Tanjung Balai Malay language, which is owned and proudly has been threatened with extinction over time, but what needs to be realized is that it does not mean to displace the position of Indonesian which has been agreed as the national language. This research took place in Tanjung Balai when in Tanjung Balai Malay language is used as the habitual language.  This study was conducted using descriptive with qualitative method purposed to find out the words as dysfunction verb in Tanjung Balai Language. Qualitative research was related to assisting in describing the common elements of the various forms of qualitative methods. Thirty dysfunctional Malay verbs were collected and analyzed as the data findings.

The paradigmatic turn of the latter half of the 20th century enabled a phenomenal growth in research studies exploring the multiple, fluid, and changing complexities of culture and identity. The nuanced, contradictory, and process-oriented nature of identity and identification has meant that these studies of identity in education have been and continue to be largely, and appropriately, qualitative and ethnographic. Theorizing about researcher positionality within qualitative research, especially ethnography, have changed over time and paralleled changes in how we think about identity in relation to education. Paradigmatic shifts regarding positionality, epistemology, and research ethics have included positivist dominated (1900s–1950s) to a critical paradigmatic shift (1960s–1980s) to most recently post-critical and decolonizing paradigms (1990s to today). Recent research centers that identity formation is central to learning and schooling contexts, directly related to student marginalization and performance embedded in issues of power. As we look towards the future, we anticipate a shift in qualitative research that is less individualistic and centered on reciprocity for communities.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to contribute to the ten years of the journal through a personal reflection. Design/methodology/approach – A review of the articles published in the last ten years. Findings – I argue that what has distinguished QROM in these ten years are two distinctive features: reflexivity on practices of qualitative research, and openness to the application of qualitative methods to unusual research topics. Originality/value – The main limit of the paper resides in the subjectivity of the person who has read the articles. Other readers may have different opinions and may have chosen different criteria.

Abstract Ambivalence is a phenomenon that transcends disciplinary divides and is associated with a myriad of mixed outcomes. Yet, identifying and representing the complexities of ambivalent experiences can be difficult using traditional qualitative methods. Thus, the goal of the present study was to advance a qualitative method, thematic co-occurrence analysis, to address this issue. To illustrate the usefulness of this method, I present a case study detailing 35 estranged adult children’s ambivalent responses and reactions to their parents’ (non)contact during the COVID-19 pandemic. Findings reveal seven themes and four (non)relationships between them that reflect (a) theme independence, (b) unilateral co-occurrence, (c) unbalanced co-occurrence, and (d) complementary co-occurrence. These findings advance a theory of ambivalence and corresponding method to aid in the future investigations of ambivalent phenomena.

This chapter addresses the intersections between public scholarship, impression management, and email as a qualitative research method. Through a discussion of Erving Goffman’s theory of impression management, the author contends that the use of email in qualitative methods must first be considered as an exercise in how we manage identities online. When public scholarship is attached to online research, qualitative researchers can take an act that is already public and form a methodological route to devise studies. The chapter outlines the use of email as a qualitative method by exploring logistics like recruitment, rapport building, ethics, consent, transcripts, and privacy expectations. The chapter ends with suggestions for future areas of research.

Social creatures, that's humans who cannot possibly live without the help of others. Therefore, he lives in society and develops culture and civilization for the common good. So marriage is a way of socializing with other humans. However, if marriage is faced with the problem of differences, especially religious differences, it becomes complicated to run the wheel of life in the future. Because, if you already have children, this can cause shock in the child. He will hesitate to choose between the religion of his father or mother. Islam is very clear in regulating this. This descriptive qualitative research, intends to reveal the results of the interfaith marriage, namely the impact of interfaith marriage for the continuity of education for the children of Wonorejo village, Situbondo City. From existing research studies, it is revealed that interfaith marriages are still detrimental, especially when viewed from a pedagogical point of view, because it indirectly means that they have prepared an unfavorable environment for both parties (spouse and their respective families) as well as for the continuity of children's education. his son.

Alberta’s natural gas liquids (NGLs) industry commenced development in the 1960s and, with the support of the Alberta government, expanded rapidly in the subsequent decades. Over time each of the major natural gas transmission systems in Alberta developed its own protocol in respect of NGL extraction entitlement and procedures. In the case of the NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd. (NGTL) pipeline system, such a protocol was developed by way of convention, and has never been formalized in the NGTL tariff. On several occasions the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB), and its predecessors, examined the issue of NGL ownership and associated extraction, but significant issues remained. In 2007, the EUB undertook an inquiry regarding matters relating to NGL ownership and extraction from the common stream of natural gas that flows through EUB regulated transmission systems and facilities. The EUB’s decision in this respect was released in February 2009. This article provides background information on the NGL extraction industry, outlines the regulatory history relating to NGL ownership and extraction, reviews the decision released by the EUB following the inquiry, considers related jurisdictional questions raised while the inquiry was ongoing, and considers the future of NGL ownership and extraction rights within the province of Alberta.

Patricia Leavy, editor of the Oxford Handbook of Qualitative Research, offers some final comments about the future of qualitative research. Leavy suggests there is a widespread move from a disciplinary to a transdisciplinary research structure in which problems of import are at the center of research practices. Within this context, qualitative researchers are well positioned to advance because of their ability to develop responsive and flexible research designs and present their work in multiple formats. Furthermore, Leavy notes how the broader move toward public scholarship is propelling both the practice of qualitative research and the teaching of qualitative methods.

Pratt and Bonaccio's (2016) focal article properly reviews and identifies the need for qualitative research methods in our field. However, they overlooked one important benefit—team science—that is crucial to current organizations. Despite the fact that qualitative research in team science is lacking, we suggest that with qualitative research we can gain more insight into what teams need in order to be effective. According to Kozlowski and Bell (2003), team dynamics are historically looked at in a static way in teams research, solely focusing on individuals’ perceptions of the team at a given time as opposed to multilevels over time. In an attempt to further expand on how qualitative research can examine constructs that purely quantitative methods may not, the purpose of this commentary is to highlight importance of qualitative research regarding its ability to capture team dynamics as they occur in the real world. The need for qualitative methods exists across various components (i.e., inputs, team emergent states, processes, outputs) when it comes to teams. We argue that how these components appear, happen, and, more importantly, evolve over time should be taken into consideration. The current commentary highlights how qualitative research can start to fill the gap of understanding team dynamics and how to improve team practices by taking time into consideration.
