Objectives: Ameloblastoma is classified as unicystic, multicystic and solid based on its characteristic. This article is aimed to report a case of ameloblastoma in posterior mandibula, analyze its radiographic appearance and emphasize on describing its other available variations. Case Report: A 39-years-old male patient came to Dadi Keluarga Hospital Purwokerto with complaint of swelling on the posterior lower jaw. The swelling was painless and has been felt since 4 years ago. Asymmetrical face was discovered. On panoramic radiograph, a well-defined radiolucent mass appears with radiopaque septation in the posterior region, the teeth were depressed, the lesion has expanded to the left coronoid process and mandibular notch. Conclusion: Based on panoramic radiographic examination the image of ameloblastoma in this case is seemed as multilocular in the posterior region, expanding to the left posterior and imaging of multilocular ameloblastoma on the left posterior region showing destruction of coronoid process and mandibular notch with soap-bubble pattern.

ABSTRACT Skeletal deformities are frequent problems in cultured fish populations due mainly to unfavorable abiotic conditions, inappropriate nutrition, and genetic factors. These may cause erratic swimming, decrease of conversion rate, growth, and market value. The aim of this case report was to present the occurrence of deformities in juvenile cobia and groupers from an offshore marine farm in Ilhabela, São Paulo, Brazil. Nine cobias and seven juvenile groupers, that presented deformities, were euthanized and fixed in 10% formaldehyde. They were tagged, processed, and stained with "Alcian Blue" (AB) and "Alizarin Red-S" (ARS) for visualization of cartilage and bone tissue, respectively. After evisceration, radiographic examination was performed. The deformities observed in cobia were atrophy of the operculum, disorganization of the gill lamellae, deformity of the lower jaw, kyphosis, and scoliosis. Groupers presented lower jaw deformity and saddleback syndrome. The farm studied in this case report had poor management standards, fed commercial feed for freshwater herbivorous fish and cooked sardines, high inbreeding and absence of adequately trained professionals to manage these species. The sum of these factors must have directly influenced the appearance of these deformities. It is necessary to control this situation to minimize the incidence of malformations that have economic impacts to farmers.

Hunter’s syndrome or mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) type II is an inherited disorder caused by enzyme iduronate-2-sulfatase deficiency. It is characterized by involvement of the nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, and musculoskeletal systems, along with numerous oral manifestations. This is a case report of an eight year-old girl diagnosed with Hunter’s syndrome, who was referred to the Pediatric Dentistry Department, Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University with a chief complaint of hard swelling related to the lower left posterior area. Radiographic examination revealed well defined corticated radiolucency surrounding an unerupted lower left first molar. Aspiration was done and cytopathologic examination revealed cystic fluid mixed with blood. The case was diagnosed as a dentigerous cyst. Cyst marsupialization was done under general anaesthesia.  From this case report we concluded that in Hunter’s syndrome patients more conservative approaches are more valuable. Regular dental follow up is advised to maintain good oral hygiene, and to detect any complications as early as possible.

Osteomas are benign, slow-growing osteogenic tumors commonly occurring in the craniofacial bones. Osteomas are characterized by the proliferation of compact and/or cancellous bone. It can be of a central, peripheral, or extraskeletal type. The peripheral type arises from the periosteum and is rarely seen in the mandible. The lingual surface and lower border of the body are the most common locations of these lesions. They are usually asymptomatic and can be discovered in routine clinical and radiographic examination. In this paper, we presented a large solitary peripheral osteoma located in the buccal surface of the left posterior mandible and causing facial deformity in a 37-year-old woman. Radiographic examination by computed tomography revealed radiopacity with a well-circumscribed, pedunculated mass approximately 3 cm in size. The osteoma was removed surgically, and no recurrence has been observed.

This paper reports the case of a patient who presented limited buccal opening, though, without apparent symptomatology. The patient was partially toothless and exodontia of the remaining teeth was indicated. Clinical examination and clinical interview were performed as well as panoramic radiograph, transcranial radiograph of the temporomandibular joints (TMJ) and, later, computed tomography (CT), emphasizing the importance of complementary exams in the diagnostic phase. Analysis of the CT scan confirmed the structural alteration in the condylar and coronoid processes of the jaw, explaining the limited buccal opening. The remaining teeth were extracted and complete upper and lower dentures were fabricated, reestablishing the occlusal relationship and the patient's stomatognathic functions. Surgical treatment of the coronoid process was discarded.

ABSTRACT Teeth in excess number than the normal count are called supernumerary teeth. They can be either unilateral or bilateral and single or multiple, found at any place in the dental arch, but most commonly found in the anterior maxillary region. Supernumerary teeth are commonly associated with syndromes when present in more numbers, but can be idiopathic. The present study shows a case report of a 16-year-old female patient who reported with overretained deciduous teeth. A panoramic radiograph showed multiple impacted supernumerary teeth. Based on clinical features and radiographic examination, a diagnosis of idiopathic hyperdontia was given. In such types of patients, management must be planned by a multidisciplinary approach. Objectives: The aim of this case report is to provide further information on the radiological features of a solid type ameloblastoma suspected on a 3D CBCT radiograph. Case Report: A patient came referred by a dentist for CBCT 3D radiography with suspected clinical diagnosis of a maxillary anterior dentigerous cyst. The results of the CBCT 3D radiographic examination showed a radiointermediate with a clear border on the anterior maxilla and in the right maxillary sinus accompanied by the impact of two supernumerary teeth. Radiological features of ameloblastoma generally show a multilocular radiolucent picture and have a radiopaque septa bone internal structure such as a soap bubble appearance or honey combed appearance. This case showed a clearly demarcated radiointermediate image because a solid type ameloblastoma contains tissue that is histologically formed from cells hat are follicular or plexiform and derived from the results of a degenerative process at the center of the Langerhans islands. Conclusion: Radiographic examination with high modality such as CBCT 3D is very important in helping to establish a diagnosis, especially for cases that sometimes show differences in the radiographs.

Marsupialization is a conservative surgical approach for the surgical management of large odontogenic lesions. Such procedure often results in a post-surgical defect in the form of an intraoral opening. The patency of such defect, if not maintained can result in food accumulation which may lead to infection and thus delayed healing of the defect. Obturator is one of the modalities to facilitate closure of the resultant defect. This report presents a case where an acrylic plug obturator retained with clasp, was provided to the patient for the interim period following marsupialization on the mandibular left posterior region.

Ameloblastic fibroma is an uncommon mixed neoplasm of odontogenic origin with a relative frequency between 1.5 – 4.5%. It can occur either in the mandible or maxilla, but predominantly seen in the posterior region of the mandible. It occurs in the first two decades of life. Most of the times it is associated with tooth enclosure, causing a delay in eruption or altering the dental eruption sequence. The common clinical manifestation is a slow growing painless swelling and is detected during routine radiographic examination. There is controversy in the mode of treatment, whether conservative or aggressive. Here we reported a 38 year old male patient referred for evaluation of painless swelling on the right posterior region of the mandible associated with clinically missing 3rd molar. The lesion was completely enucleated under general anesthesia along with the extraction of impacted molar.

Osteomyelitis of maxillofacial skeleton is common in developing countries such as India. This case report describes successful surgical treatment of chronic suppurative osteomyelitis {CSO} of the mandible of a 35yr old female. The precipitating factor was thought to be eventful extraction in the {left } posterior body at the inferior border of mandible. Methods: Presurgical course of antibiotics ( Amoxycillin and metronidazole for 7 days and later followed by doxycycline for 1 month).Surgical debridement of the affected bone and reinforcing it with reconstruction plate using AO principles was done . Patient was kept on a high nutrient diet consisting of proteins. Conclusion: The case report demonstrates the typical features of CSO . The combination of the antibiotics therapy and surgical debridement was successful in the treatment of chronic suppurative osteomylitis.

The purpose of this article was to present a case report of 11–year old female patient with a large osteolytic mandibular lesion which healed after endodontic treatment. The patient was referred for radio diagnostics due to an incidental finding of a large osteolytic lesion of the area of the left lower first and second premolars in the panoramic radiograph taken before orthodontic treatment. CBCT was performed and the patient asked to have teeth 33-35 treated by endodontics before surgery. The patient missed the surgical appointment and when she reappeared several months later, the lesion showed signs of healing thus surgery were aborted. The presented case testifies to the observation that even large osteolytic lesions can heal after endodontic treatment without surgical approach.
