This article presents the results found in phase four of the doctoral thesis: "Pedagogical references for the use and appropriation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) within the educational processes planned and developed by teachers of higher education”. In this phase of the research, it was intended to establish in a direct and precise way how teachers make use of ICT within their classes. This research is carried out in the engineering faculties of three universities in Bogotá (Colombia): a private university, a public university, and a technological public school, training engineers by propaedeutic cycles. The methodology followed is framed under the mixed approach: qualitative and quantitative descriptive, using the technique of structured interview applied to 157 teachers who guide educational processes in engineering faculties. This study could undoubtedly serve as a reference to other engineering teachers who intend to make use of ICT in their educational processes.

The article contains the analysis of the role and function of information and communication technologies in contemporary models of innovative educational processes based on theoretical and empirical studies. Information and communication technologies are defined as a set of tools and methods for obtaining, collecting, analytic and synthetic processing, storage and dissemination of information used in the management of socio-pedagogical systems. It was found that the network, integrative, fast learning and knowledge sharing models of innovative processes create information and communication environment allowing quickly and effectively exchange information. The experience of scientific-methodical and information support of innovations is outlined.

Use and Appropriation of Information and Communication Technologies by Teachers in the Faculties of EngineeringThis research presents the results of the diagnostic phase of the thesis “Pedagogical References for Use and Appropriation of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in Educational Processes Planned and Developed by Teachers in Higher Education.” This research was conducted in the engineering schools of three universities in Bogotá (Colombia), based on the intuition that pedagogic and teaching concerns in these departments have not always been faced in a good way. The methodology designed for this phase began with the quantitative approach through design and implementation of a survey: the instrument sought to analyze the level of use and appropriation of ICT into educational processes that guide engineering teachers in higher education. The study confirms that teachers do use ICT, and it also highlights the urgent need for guidance for teachers in these areas on the proper use of technologies not only from the teaching and learning points of view. Keywords: educational resources, ICT, pedagogy.

The complexity of the environment and economical operation, tightly integrated with information and communication technologies, have challenged the management to adopt new paradigms and new approaches associated with new operating models. Internet of things, cloud computing, governance, and urbanism are some examples of new paradigms and new approaches in the area of information systems, which highlight the information as a basic resource for economic activity and justify the need to ensure appropriately the functions of production, storage, and distribution insofar as of its quality and availability depends on the effectiveness of corporate governance. This chapter, carried out by the European Club for Information Systems Governance in 2011 and 2012, provides evidence about the governance practices adopted in the area of information systems by large economic organizations in Portugal.

This article seeks to reflect on the implications of literacy as a fundamental educational competence for citizens of the globalized world. In order to achieve this purpose, we characterize some of the paths on which this knowledge is disseminated and explain how it relates to written culture, educational processes and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). In addition, it opens a space for reflection on the matter in Venezuela in recent years; supported by Bravo (2011) and Uzcátegui and Bravo (2017) reviews of official data. It is emphasized that literacy is decisively linked to the construction of the personal autonomy necessary for lifelong learning and the consideration of reading and writing as social and cultural practices. In conclusion, it is considered that all entities and social actors should assume the commitment to literacy and the promotion of written culture, in its different formats and modalities. In this case, democratic governments’ responsibility of implementing cultural, educational, social and economic policies is underlined, for their implementation increases responsibility towards the people, and also, towards their living conditions.

The use of computers, internet, and smartphones in the learning and teaching process has become an irreversible fact. Information and communication technologies (ICT) are now one of the fundamental teaching resources and even one of the principal teaching environments. The widespread use of ICT stands in positive correlation to the growing number of studies on educational aspects of the use of new media in schooling. The dynamically growing number of publications in this field requires reflection on the directions of research in the intensely developing sub-discipline of education science, i.e. media pedagogy. The aim of the article is to explore the two dominant directions of research on didactic and upbringing aspects of ICT use in education. The text presents the assumptions and processes assigned to both the opportunity paradigm and the risk paradigm of media pedagogy. These paradigms clash, giving rise to research directed at positive or negative phenomena related to the digitalization of schooling and educational processes. The text is an attempt to draw attention not only to the development of media pedagogy, but also to methodological errors resulting from anchoring research to only one trend.
