Background and objectives: The COVID-19 pandemic has affected face to face medical education and training activities around the world. The aim of this study was to provide remote practical handwashing training to health sciences students and to measure the effectiveness of the training provided and to create a feedback model. Methods: Students of the Paramedic department were included in the study. Two virtual classrooms were created via Zoom Video Communication system. An 11-step handwashing algorithm was developed. Two hours of remote handwashing training was given. Participants were asked to apply the handwashing application they learned at their own location and to record videos. Application videos were evaluated and scored. Results: A total of 135 Term-1 and Term 2 students of the Paramedic department participated in the study. The duration of the evaluated videos was on average 57.67 ± 12.69 (34-95) seconds. Fifty-five (40.7%) of the participants successfully completed all the steps and their average success score was 10.3 ± 0.67 (8-11). The most failure (33.3%) in the process steps was the 9th step in which the wrists are rubbed with soap. Conclusion: Suitable teaching and feedback methods are required for medical and health science students who receive education and practical training remotely from home. Ibrahim Med. Coll. Background: End-stage renal disease, as one of the most serious and major health problems, does not have many treatment options available. One of the best treatment modalities used to cure this debilitating disease is kidney transplantation. However, with the continuous increase in number of patients diagnosed with it, there is not enough supply of the organ. The aim of our study is to assess knowledge about, attitude toward, and willingness to donate kidney among health science students at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University in comparison to the general population in Jeddah and to investigate the factors that play a role on their willingness.Methods: This is an observational, analytical, cross-sectional study design conducted in 2019. Two target populations were included: King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences students and the general population in Jeddah. Data were collected via a self-administered, close-ended, structured, and previously validated questionnaire that contained 39 items divided into four sections. SPSS program version 22 was used in data analysis.Results: Out of 685 surveyed participants, 179 (26.1%) were willing to donate their kidney, with students showing a higher rate of willingness (N = 101; 32.3%) than the general population (N = 78; 21%). However, only 46 (6.7%) out of the total population hold an organ donor card. In bivariate analysis, it was found that knowledge significantly associated with a higher rate of willingness among the student population than the general population, while positive beliefs were associated with increased willingness in the general population than students. Positive attitude appeared to play a role in higher willingness among the general population and student population.Conclusion: There is a low perception of awareness regarding kidney donation in both populations of this study. The willingness rate of health science students at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University and the general population was low when compared with other studies conducted internationally.

Blended learning is a mixture of online learning and face-to-face activities. Online learning suffers from a lack of practical and laboratory work which is mandatory for learning in many specific fields. Adult training is also mainly focused on knowledge related to specific useful competencies and practical skills so practical training is an inseparable part of adult learning and training. Web laboratories with remotely controlled laboratory experiments should provide a necessary practical component in the concept of online learning. There are many different classifications, implementations and usages of web laboratories. This chapter deals with web laboratories, trying to define a framework for the development of web laboratories, to define pre-requests, architecture and software realization of web based laboratories and to find the right blend. This chapter also presents the contribution of web laboratories in blended learning and other possible benefits for the concept of blended learning for adults.

Almost all universities or colleges have diverted to online learning and teaching modalities due to COVID-19 pandemic. Adaptation of remote learning might not be equally beneficial for all students. We have provided an opinion about how remote learning might become an opportunity for dishonest students and future perspectives for such students. Medical students, who do not take their studies seriously might take this remote learning as an opportunity and use the short cuts to pass their exams because they can easily cheat online in the assignments and exams. Therefore, teaching institutions should develop some strategies to equally assess medical and health sciences students to ensure transparency, justice, and credibility. Conducting oral exams along with the written exams, encouraging students to participate online, asking students to turn on their videos if feasible, and developing a mechanism where these students can explain their work to the teacher can help to overcome challenges.

The Covid-19 pandemic has put enormous pressure on the educational system in all its teaching and learning activities, and in the specific case of the practical training of teachers. This study seeks to investigate through qualitative research with a comprehensive interpretive approach, the training of the practicum of Physical Education teachers in Chile, considering the knowledge and experiences, in the context of virtual classrooms during the Covid-19 pandemic. Semi-structured interviews and focus groups were used to collect the data; and were analyzed with the content analysis technique. As result, it can be observed that the students manifest diverse experiences in their practicum process, with difficulties inherent to the remote work condition, such as difficulty in communication with students and school teachers, problems in didactic and evaluation processes, and adaptation to context. It is necessary to discuss the access of students and teachers to technologies, as well as the training of physical education teachers in areas of didactic and assessment in contexts where face-to-face is difficult.

Abstract Background Medical dramas have been popular since their inception, especially among medical students. We hypothesized that the recent increase in the availability of TV medical series through online streaming platforms has probably changed health science students’ viewing habits as well as the representation of bioethical conflicts and health professionals. Methods We invited undergraduate students of medicine, nursing, and human biology to complete a self-administered questionnaire about their viewing habits and perceptions of the depictions of bioethical issues and professionalism in TV medical series. Results Of the 355 respondents, 98.6 % had watched TV in the last year, 93.5 % watched TV series, and 49.6 % watched medical dramas more than once a week. The most-viewed medical dramas were The Good Doctor, House MD, and Grey’s Anatomy. The most-remembered bioethical topics were medical errors, inappropriate professional behaviors, and death. Most students considered that ideals of professionalism were depicted positively and professionals were portrayed as intelligent, professionally qualified, and competent. Conclusions Medical dramas are very popular with health science students and are potentially useful as teaching tools for discussing issues related to bioethics and professionalism.

Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR & AR) with its various computer-based virtual simulations and teaching aids have already begun to transform the medical education and training. The use of virtual labs and anatomy lessons including the use of Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) as in the delivery of lectures and surgery operations are explored. The purpose of this chapter is to promote the role of VR & AR in the context of medical education as an innovative, effective, and cost-reasonable solution for the provision of better and faster practical training. This chapter overall investigates and explores the potential of VLEs in terms of the necessary concepts and principles that allow students to develop a more direct and meaningful experiential understanding of the learning goals and outcomes of courses and of the practical and transferable skills required. A business model related to cloud active learning in medical education and training is proposed in line with the idea of an Open Agora of Virtual Reality Learning Services.

Background: Health sciences students are expected to have appropriate knowledge and attitudes toward medication use. However, literary evidence of such expertise among health sciences students of King Saud University is unknown. This study was completed to assess the knowledge about medicines and behavior of health science students towards safe use of medications. It also aims to assess the health knowledge, attitude and practices of the students. Methods: This cross-sectional study used a questionnaire consisting of 24 questions. This was administered by the researcher between October and December 2009 in the colleges of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, applied medical science and nursing of the King Saud University. The survey consisted of three parts: Ten questions assessed the students’ knowledge on drug safety (Part 1). Four questions assessed student attitude toward medication consultations by the pharmacist (Part 2) and ten questions involved medication use practices and consultation with pharmacists (Part 3). A stratified sampling method was used to select participants. Results: Pharmacy students had better medication knowledge compared to other health sciences students especially regarding antihypertensive drugs, antibiotics, paracetamol and antacids (p<0.05). Pharmacy students showed a positive attitude regarding the trustworthiness of a pharmacist to give a consultation. Nearly all other health science students showed a negative attitude about dispensing and consultation concerning nutritional supplements by a pharmacist. All health sciences students had a similar per­ception toward medication use and practice. Conclusion: Pharmacy students had better knowledge about medication practice compared to other health sciences students. All other health sciences students lacked the appropriate attitude and practice related to the safe use of medications

The purpose of this study is to determine the current status of producers engaged in agricultural production in Iğdır Province. For this purpose, face-to-face interviews were made with 369 producers selected according to the proportional sample size method. 46 of the producers are women and 323 of them are men. The highest rate of age is between the ages of 41-50 with 35%. Secondary education has the highest share with 46.3% when educational status is examined. Secondary education has the highest share with 46.3% when educational status is examined. The most important goal of the producers in agricultural production has been to achieve the highest profit. Their most insignificant purpose is to try to set an example for the farmers around them. Farmers are aware that they need to protect nature in order to be able to farm in the future. It is seen that the protection of nature for farmers is important in terms of sustainability in agricultural production. Cooperatives should be supported in order to overcome the problems of producers who produce with small capacity in the region. The producers who have understood the importance of the environment should be given technical support and training activities should be intensified.
