The objective of this study was to fill the knowledge gap through analyzing the buyers’ and suppliers’ perception on legal framework influence towards e-procurement adoption model in developing countries, Tanzania in particular. This study was guided by Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology and the Technology, Organization and Environment model. The study adopted positivism philosophy and cross-sectional survey research design. The study also used non-probability (purposive) sampling and probability (stratified) sampling techniques. Sample size was 157. Questionnaires and documentary review were used for data collection. The collected data were analysed by using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) with the help of SmartPLS 3 software. Findings reveal that in the presence of performance expectancy, relative advantage and attitude, legal framework has an indirect influence towards e-Procurement Adoption Model. The findings and recommendations of this study are anticipated to improve the adoption of e-Procurement in developing countries, Tanzania in particular.

The study adopted positivism philosophy and cross-sectional survey research design. The study also used stratified sampling technique. Sample size was 157. Questionnaires and documentary review were used for data collection. The collected data were analysed by using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling with the help of SmartPLS 3 software. Findings reveal that in the presence of attitude, relative advantage has direct and indirect influences towards e-procurement adoption. Grounding on the theoretical and empirical gaps, the hypothesized relationships of the determinants of new technology (relative advantage and attitude) have therefore filled these gaps which leads to the theoretical, empirical and practical contributions.The study recommends attention to be paid for relative advantage towards e-procurement adoption in Tanzania and in all developing countries which intend to adopt new technologies in public sector.

Abstract Background Although a mobile nursing application has began to adopt in nursing, few studies have focused on nurses’ behavioral intention of it. The objective of this study is to gain insight into the behavioral intention of nurses, i.e. chinese nurses of the future, to use a mobile nursing application. This study adopted an extension of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology to examine Chinese nurses’ acceptance of a mobile nursing application. Methods A total of 1207 nurses participated in the cross-sectional survey. The majority of nurses were female (96.2%). The mean age of the participants was 34.18 (SD 7.39). The hypothesized relationships were tested using AMOS structural equation model. Results All constructs exhibited an acceptable level of reliability and validity with Cα and CR > 0.7 and AVE > 0.5. An extension of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology Model had good explanatory power for nurses’ behavioral intention of a mobile nursing application. Although effort expectancy and perceived risks had a surprisingly insignificant effect on nurses’ behavioral intention to use a mobile nursing application, performance expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, self-efficacy, and perceived incentives demonstrated significant influence with β = .259, p < .001, β = .296, p < .001, β = .063, p = .037, β = .344, p < .001, β = .091, p = .001, respectively. Conclusion With 70.2% of the variance in behavioral intention to use a mobile nursing app explained by this model, it could be helpful for potential adopters, and further investigation should test the actual usage behavior for a mobile nursing app and investigate the related factors.

This study investigated the factors that influence Ghanaian entrepreneurs to adopt e-commerce. Cross-sectional data was gathered from 520 entrepreneurs in the most populous and industrious regions in Ghana. The unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) was employed to effectively understand the unexplored phenomenon of e-commerce adoption among Ghanaian entrepreneurs. Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to test the hypothesized relationships. The findings indicate that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence (SI) positively and significantly influenced the behavioral intention (BI) to adopt e-commerce. Facilitating conditions (FC) and BI had a significant positive relationship with the adoption of e-commerce.

E-Health is one of the solutions to provide better access for patients and physician to healthcare facilities. In developing countries, e-Health is particularly important due to a shortage of physician and medical workers. Although most physicians in developing countries like Bangladesh acknowledge the benefits of e-Health, low adoption is not uncommon. The objective of this study is to identify the critical factors affecting e-Health adoption among physicians in Bangladesh. A cross-sectional survey questionnaire method was used for this study. The structural equation modeling (SEM) with the partial least square (PLS) approach was used to analyze the data. The study found that Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence and Personal Innovativeness had a significant impact on the behavioral intention to use e-Health, while Facilitating Conditions had no significant effect. The findings of this study will facilitate the degree of more acceptance of new technology by the physicians for their own betterment.

Background Many university students are lacking adequate physical exercise and are failing to develop physical activity (PA) behaviors in China. PA app use could improve this situation. Objective The aim of this study was to use the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) to investigate the intention to use PA apps among university students in Guangzhou, China, and how body mass index (BMI) moderates the effects of UTAUT in explaining PA app use intention. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted among 1704 university students from different universities in Guangzhou, China. The UTAUT model was used to measure the determinants of intention to use PA apps. Results Of the participants, 41.8% (611/1461) intended to use PA apps. All three UTAUT-related scales (performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence) were positively associated with the intention to use PA apps after adjusting for background variables (adjusted odds ratio 1.10-1.31, P<.001). The performance expectancy scale had stronger associations with the intention to use PA apps among those whose BMI were beyond normal range compared with those whose BMI were within normal range (P<.001). Conclusions UTAUT is useful for understanding university students’ intention to use PA apps. Potential moderating effects should be kept in mind when designing UTAUT-based interventions to improve PA via app use.

Purpose A number of studies have shown that internet banking (IB) implementation is not only determined by banks or government support, but also by perceptions and experience of IB users. IB studies have showed encouraging results from academics in developed countries. Yet little is known about the user adoption of IB in Lebanon. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the factors that may hinder or facilitate the acceptance and usage of IB in Lebanon. Design/methodology/approach A conceptual framework was developed through extending the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) by incorporating two additional factors namely; perceived credibility (PC) and task-technology fit (TTF). A quantitative approach based on cross-sectional survey was used to collect data from 408 IB consumers. Data were analysed using structural equation modelling based on AMOS 20.0. Findings The results of the structural path revealed that performance expectancy (PE), social influence, PC and TTF to be significant predictors in influencing customers’ behavioural intention (BI) to use IB and explained 61 per cent of its variance, with PE was found the strongest antecedent of BI. Contrary to the UTAUT, the effect of effort expectancy on BI was insignificant. In addition, both BI and facilitating conditions were found to affect the actual usage behaviour and explained 64 per cent of its variance Practical implications This study would be helpful for bank managers and policy makers to explain the currently relatively low penetration rate of IB in formulating strategies to encourage the adoption and acceptance of IB by Lebanese customers, where IB is still considered an innovation. Originality/value This study is the first research that extend the UTAUT by incorporating two additional factors namely; PC and TTF to study the IB in the Lebanese context. This study contributes to the research on computer technology usage by looking at IB adoption and incorporation into the lives of customers via the BI to use and actual usage of IB in Lebanon.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to perform a systematic review of articles that have used the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). Design/methodology/approach – The results produced in this research are based on the literature analysis of 174 existing articles on the UTAUT model. This has been performed by collecting data including demographic details, methodological details, limitations, and significance of relationships between the constructs from the available articles based on the UTAUT. Findings – The findings indicated that general purpose systems and specialized business systems were examined in the majority of the articles using the UTAUT. The analysis also indicated that cross-sectional approach, survey methods, and structural equation modelling analysis techniques were the most explored research methodologies whereas SPSS was found to be the largely used analysis tools. Moreover, the weight analysis of independent variables indicates that variables such as performance expectancy and behavioural intention qualified for the best predictor category. Moreover, the analysis also suggested that single subject or biased sample as the most explored limitation across all studies. Research limitations/implications – The search activities were centered on occurrences of keywords to avoid tracing a large number of publications where these keywords might have been used as casual words in the main text. However, we acknowledge that there may be a number of studies, which lack keywords in the title, but still focus upon UTAUT in some form. Originality/value – This is the first research of its type which has extensively examined the literature on the UTAUT and provided the researchers with the accumulative knowledge about the model.

On account of slow adoption rate of Wearable Fitness Technology (WFT), the device designers need to comprehend the determinants behind the adoption and use of WFT. Which antecedents affect the intention of WFT wearers remains unclear and a brainteaser for designers, especially in developing countries. This study, therefore, examined the factors liable to influence the WFT users in a developing country using the extended ‘Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology’ (UTAUT2) model and ‘Perceived Reliability’. The desired data for assessment the model was assembled from 260 Bangladeshi respondents using a self-administered questionnaire through online platforms. The Partial-Least-Squares-Structural-Equation-Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique was followed by operationalizing SmartPLS 3.3.3 software to test the proposed hypotheses mentioned in the model. The outcomes of the test confirmed that the facilitating conditions and habit are the most influential determinants for intention-to-use and actual use of WFT followed by performance expectancy and facilitating conditions respectively. Contrariwise, effort expectancy was unearthed to have no notable impact on behavioral intention whereas price value showed negative association with intention. The documentation of the findings could benefit WFT vendors and those policymakers who have strong desire to enter in developing countries’ market.

The market for wearable health monitoring technology is promising globally and in Saudi Arabia particularly. The country has a very high prevalence of chronic diseases that can be managed using wearable health monitoring technology. However, wearable devices are not fully advantageous if people do not accept them. Due to the parsimony of studies on the acceptance of wearable health monitoring technology, understanding the key drivers of using wearable health monitoring technology remains uncertain. This cross-sectional study extends the extended unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2) to explain the variance in the adoption intention of wearable health monitoring technology. A total of 256 responses were analyzed using the partial least squares structural equation modeling technique, in addition to the importance-performance map analysis. The results indicate that performance expectancy (PE), social influence (SI), facilitating conditions (FC), hedonic motivation (HM) and habit (HA) significantly impact users’ behavioral intention (BI) to adopt wearable health monitoring technology. The results also demonstrate that effort expectancy (EE), price value (PV), government health policy (GHP) and trust (TR) are not important. Based on the findings, this research presents a set of recommendations for decisions makers, managers and system developers in the healthcare sector to enhance the use and quality of wearable technology.
