Mood disorders are among the most prevalent health problems affecting the young adult population, especially academics of higher education. This scenario may be even more evident with the social isolation related to COVID-19. The aim of this study was to investigate symptoms of stress, depression and anxiety in academics from private institutions of higher education, under social isolation. The study was performed using questionnaires to obtain socioeconomic data and the Anxiety, Depression and Stress Scale (DASS-21), using an online platform. The results demonstrated that most participants had symptoms of stress, anxiety or depression. People with mood disorders had severe scores on the DASS-21. In addition, there was a higher prevalence of severe and extremely severe symptoms in females when compared to males. Finally, there was a negative correlation with age, demonstrating that, as younger, higher the score. The participants had significant scores of mood disorders probably because the majority work and study. In addition, they probably increase the susceptibility to these conditions with COVID-19 pandemic. The predominant age corresponds to the so-called emerging adult phase and the majority of women is probably related to the fact that most health sciences courses participated in the research and had predominantly women.

Purpose of the study: List the mean in the scale of utilization of the strategies of the Stricto Sensu Programs of the Higher Education Institutions of Brazil in the Public Administration and Business, Accounting and Tourism area in the scenarios surveyed for the period from 2019 to 2030. Methodology / approach: The scenario methodology suggested by Blanning and Reinig. Originality / Relevance: The postgraduate course presents itself as a necessary source of knowledge creation to meet the emerging demands of companies and society, so the choice to study the higher education sector, highlighting the Stricto Sensu Programs of public and private institutions of Brazil, is due to the relevance that this sector has for Brazil. It is relevant to reflect on the current conditions and contributions and the desirable future scenario for these postgraduates. Main results: As for the use of strategies by scenario, the strategy "to promote the quality of theses and dissertations" was highlighted in the optimistic and realistic scenarios; looking at the pessimistic scenario, the strategy that was in relevance was the reduction of costs.Theoretical / methodological contributions: It is to bring into the agenda strategies that can make important contributions to the institutions and their respective graduate programs in scenarios of uncertainties and challenges due to competitiveness.Social / management contributions: The social insertion is an important criterion for the integration and cooperation of already existing stricto sensu postgraduate programs, mature and or legitimized, with other programs and centers of study of Brazil, contributing emphatically to the promotion of new professionals , especially in the less favored regions of Brazil.

ABSTRACT Purpose: This research aimed to identify and analyze the antecedents of work engagement through job demands and resources of the higher education professors in Brazil. Originality/value: First findings of engagement, job resources and demands regarding Brazilian professors sample. This dissertation contributes to the reflection of their situation and the conditions of their jobs. Design/methodology/approach: This study used a quantitative approach by means of applying an online questionnaire composed of identification questions and two scales. The sample comprised 506 professors belonging to all federative units of the country. Data collected from the questionnaire was analyzed through descriptive statistics, analysis of variance and t-test. Findings: The main findings show that professors, in general, have medium levels of engagement, but it is very close to the limit that can affect their health. The qualitative demands are the most expressive in the working life of these professionals and the work resources (task execution) were those that obtained the highest average among all resources, followed by the social ones. In general, professors from private institutions perceive job demands and resources more favorably than those who work in public institutions.

The aim of this research is to emphasize the importance of education for the philanthropic responsibilities of students. The basic term of the explanatory research is corporate social responsibility, adapted for higher education institutions—the philanthropic responsibilities of students, their implication on charity organization memberships or volunteering activities, and their motivation to help others. Special attention was given to the following questions: Are students involved in charity organization activities or voluntary work? Are there any differences between state and private universities regarding the philanthropic activities of students? How frequently, where, and why are they involved in volunteering? What is the latent structure of students‘ motivations? The quantitative international survey dates were collected by the Centre for Higher Education Research and Development from Debrecen University, Hungary, and the present examination focuses on the sample from Romania. Using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) statistical software, first, through a longitudinal perspective, Romanian students’ implications from state and private institutions were compared. Second, the paper analyzes the characteristics of volunteering and student’s motivations. The conclusions present significant differences between state and private institutions. Students traditional motivations, i.e., to help others, were very common and connected with relational and self-development intentions. This mixed motivational factor was different from the global motivational factor (to learn new languages and to discover new cultures).

Depression entails changes in the mental health of individuals worldwide. Episodes of depression lead to mood swings and changes in the motivational dimension. Our research focused on the prevalence of depression in the adult population and on how it affected the social and affective dimensions. Owing to the current pandemic, we deemed it necessary to explore how protective measures against COVID-19 infection, such as quarantines, could be related to mental health. Moreover, we found it important to determine the prevalence of depressive and anxious symptomatology in adults from the Valle del Cauca region in Colombia during the social isolation connected to COVID-19. Our study was descriptive, analytical and cross-sectional, and involved 1248 subjects. As tools, we used the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale. The data demonstrated that women were more likely to display symptoms of depression and that individuals aged between 24 and 29 were less likely to reveal symptoms of anxiety than those aged between 18 and 23. Moreover, childless or economically dependent individuals proved to be more likely to display symptoms of depression during the pandemic.

This research uses the counter-attitudinal essay paradigm ( Janis & King, 1954 ) to test the effects of social actions on social representations. Thus, students wrote either a pro- or a counter-attitudinal essay on Higher Education. Three forms of counter-attitudinal essays were manipulated countering respectively a) students’ attitudes towards higher education; b) peripheral beliefs or c) central beliefs associated with this representation object. After writing the essay, students expressed their attitudes towards higher education and evaluated different beliefs associated with it. The structural status of these beliefs was also assessed by a “calling into question” test ( Flament, 1994a ). Results show that behavior challenging either an attitude or peripheral beliefs induces a rationalization process, giving rise to minor modifications of the representational field. These modifications are only on the social evaluative dimension of the social representation. On the other hand, when the behavior challenges central beliefs, the same rationalization process induces a cognitive restructuring of the representational field, i.e., a structural change in the representation. These results and their implications for the experimental study of representational dynamics are discussed with regard to the two-dimensional model of social representations ( Moliner, 1994 ) and rationalization theory ( Beauvois & Joule, 1996 ).

Similarly, expenditure in the form of compensation, public health services, skills training, caring teachers and preachers, the economic empowerment of the ummah, qurban from 2004 amounting to Rp. 17,787,500.00 until 2009 to Rp. 559 005 100 is almost 300%. The channeling of funds up to 98% - 102% from 2004 to 2009. The remaining funds are used for operational reserves the foundation. The Foundation expects an increase in revenue from activities that are funded in accordance mission of the foundation is: (1) to provide services to the community through empowerment programs that integrate educational programs, health, economy and skills. (2) Being a liaison between the haves with the community through the distribution of funds can not afford the social, charity, infaq, shodaqoh and humanitarian funds.
