ABSTRACTThe purpose of the study wasto develop textbooks for dyslexia through learning style intervention assisted by audio-visual media for elementary school students. This research is Research and Development. The subjects in this study were dyslexic students at SDN Brambang Karangawen Demak with a total of three of the third grade students. The result of the study is that the type of teaching book needed an audio-visual-assisted with link and video barcode that related to the students’ learning style. Each chapter has three video links, namely visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles. The teaching book material consists of reading, writing, drawing, directions, and story. The reason for using the teaching book is that children don’t have learning resources or books to practice reading and writing as their handbooks. Audio-visual aided teaching book are expected to be more interesting for dyslexic in order to they have a motivation for learning. The conclusion of study is based on teachers and students’ need analysis. They want to the development of teachingbooks for dyslexic children through learning style interventions assisted by audio-visual media. It is needed to help reading difficulties, especially for dyslexic children.Keywords: Teaching book, Dyslexia, Leraning style, Audio Visual Media

This preliminary study aims to collect information about elementary school students’ learning styles and preferences that are useful for developing reading literacy books to strengthenthe socio-cultural values in elementary schools in order to be effective for the School Literacy Movement. This is as based on the fact that there are cases of elementary school students committing violence against their own friends. The development model of reading literacy for elementary school students was Plomp’s model with the steps of preliminary research, prototyping, and assessment. The research findings in the preliminary analysis show that students tend to have less motivation to read due to reading materials which are not interesting enough. The needs analysis results show that elementary school students really like folklore. The folklore to be developed comprises traditional Indonesian folklore spreading throughout the country in every province. It is expected that educational practitioners use a book about folklore in the learning process and the School Literacy Movement. The results of the teaching materials validation show that reading literacy learning materials using folklore are valid and can be tried out.

The  research aims are (i) Identifying the characteristics of good English teachers in SMAN 3 Sinjai Selatan. (ii) Knowing the characteristics of good English teacher based on the students’ learning style. (iii) Knowing the characteristics of good English teacher based on the students’ personality. This research was done by using a qualitative approach. The data were collected by using two instruments i.e. questionnaires and in depth interview. The results of this study reveal that (i) The characteristics of good English teacher based on the students’ perception in SMAN 3 Sinjai Selatan are categorized into four different categories, namely proficiency, pedagogical (both conceptual and practical), socio-affective and psychological aspect. The last category was the additional category in which age included in and differently from the work of Gi and  Hyo (2006) that only specified three categories, namely proficiency, pedagogical and socio-affective skills. (ii) In general, the characteristics of good English teacher based on the students’ learning style are dominantly in pedagogical aspect. Visual learners want English teacher who can keep the students’ focus and concentration in their learning; auditory learners expect English teacher who can engage the students’ motivation and interest toward learning English; and haptic learners propose the English teacher who concerns on the process rather than the achievement of the students in learning. (iii) The characteristics of good English teacher proposed by high school students based on their personality are dominantly on the teacher’s pedagogical and socio-affective aspects. Only a few ideas of the students that concern on the teacher’s proficiency and psychological aspect.

<em>The purpose of this research is to describe the implementation of Natural Environment Approach (PLAS) to improve the science process skill in elementary school students. This classroom action research is a collaborative study conducted by teachers and prospective teachers. The subjects of this study were teachers and students of class V. The results showed that the application of PLAS can improve the science process skill through the steps of: (1) determining the learning objectives, tools and instruments needed, and instructional activities, (2) the students are divided into several groups, (4) investigating and observing objects, discussing task sheets, and recording information, (5) reporting findings, (6) conclusions and evaluations of learning.</em>

The purpose of this study was to describe the creative thinking profile of grade VIII junior high school students in terms of learning styles in solving quadrilateral problems. This research is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach. The subjects of this research were students VIII A at SMPN 1 Genteng, namely two students from each different type of learning style. Collecting data using questionnaires, test methods, and interview methods. Students' creative thinking is categorized into four indicators, namely fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The results showed that students in visual learning styles could fulfill all indicators of creative thinking, namely fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Auditory learning style students can fulfill three indicators of creative thinking, namely fluency, originality, and elaboration.
