This research aims at analysing the development of students’ speaking skill in Islamic higher education in Indonesia through repetition technique. This is a CAR (Classroom Action Research) implemented in cyclical process, covering planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subject of research was the fourth semester students of EFL speaking class which consist of 25 students. The data were obtained from observation checklist, field notes, questionnaire, and test. They were analysed qualitatively and quantitatively. Quantitative data dealt with teaching-learning process, i.e. students’ participation in the classroom activities. They were gained from students’ achievement tests. The findings revealed that in cycle 1 there were twelve students who achieved minimum criteria of achievement. It means that the classical achievement was 48%. In cycle 2, it showed that there were twenty of students who achieved the minimum criteria of achievement. It means that the classical achievement was 80%. Both classical and individual achievements have met the criteria of success. It can be concluded that the repetition technique is proved to be useful to develop students’ speaking skill.

This research is aimed at improving students� speaking skill by using picture strip story in class XI IPA 1 of Senior High School 1 Luragung. The problems in this research are the low of students� skill in speaking. This research was applied through collaborative action research which was conducted in two cycles. The subject of this research was English subject in class XI IPA I with total number of students 34. The result of the research showed that picture strip story could improve students� speaking skill. The result of test I was 62.69, test II was 68.83 and test III was 74.22. The students who passed the Minimum Mastery Criterion (KKM) were 22 students or 64.71%. In addition, the result of field notes showed that the classroom situation during teaching learning process by using picture strip story created the positive atmosphere. In cycle 1, there were no students who chatted and played handphone during the teaching and learning process by using picture strip story, all of students in a group did the task together and discussed it each other, the students could answer teacher�s question, and all of students spoke in English while expressing their ideas. In cycle 2, the classroom situations were completed with students asking questions to the teacher.Keywords: speaking skill, picture strip story, improve, collaborative action research

This study attempted to improve the students’ reading comprehension achievement in descriptive text through Team Games Tournament (TGT) method. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of the research was class IX SMP PAB 10 Medan Estate which consisted of 25 students. The research was conducted in two cycles and the first cycle consisted of four meetings the second cycle consisted of two meetings. The instruments for collecting the data were quantitative data (reading evaluation) and qualitative data (diary note, observation sheet and interview sheet). Based on reading scores, students’ score kept improving in every evaluation. In the test I the mean was 65,33, in the test II the mean was 71,72 and the test III the mean was 84,54.Based on diary note, observation sheet and interview sheet, it was found that teaching-learning process ran well. Students were active, enthusiastic, and interested in reading. The result of the research showed that Team Games Tournament (TGT) method significantly improved students’ achievement in reading comprehension especially in reading descriptive text.

This study was attempted to improve students’ achievement in writing narrativetext by watching movies. This study was conducted by using classroom action researchin two cycles. Cycle I consisted of four meetings while Cycle II consisted of twomeetings. The subject of the research was class VIII-A SMP SWASTA IMMANUELMEDAN. The number of the students was 34. To collect the data, the instruments werequantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data was the scores of the studentsand the qualitative data was interview sheets, observation sheets, and diary notes. Basedon the writing score, students’ score were improving in every test. It can be seen inOrientation test, Test I in Cycle I, and Test II in Cycle II. In Orientation test, the meanscore was 37.94 then it was improved to 65.85 in Test I. In the end of cycle II, the meanscore for test II was again improved to 83.41. Based on interview sheets, observationsheets and diary notes, it was found that teaching-learning process ran well. In line withthe data, it showed that the application of watching movies significantly improvedstudent’s achievement in writing narrative text. English teachers were suggested to givemovies to be watched as guidance on students’ narrative writing in the class.

This study deals with the way to improve students’ achievement in speaking particularly through Two Stay Two Stray Strategy. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of of the research was class X-AP SMK Swasta Harapan Danau Sijabut in Asahan Regency that consisted of 34 students. The research was conducted in two cycles consisted of three meetings in each cycle. The instruments of collecting data for quantitative data used Speaking Test and instrument for analysis of qualitative data used observation, interview and questionnaire sheet. Based on the speaking test score, students’ score kept improving in every test. In the test I the mean was 61,47, in the test II the mean was 67,41 and the test III the mean was 78,52. Based on observation sheet and questionnaire sheet, it was found that teaching learning process run well and lively. Students were active and interest in speaking. The using of Two Stay Two Stray Strategy is significantly improved students’ achievement in speaking.

This research aims to find out the impact of video dubbing on improving students’ speaking pronunciation. This research was applied for the tenth grade and eleventh grade of Vocational High School in Madiun city, province of East Java, Indonesia. The subject of the research consisted of 20 students, 14 female students and 6 male students. In collecting the data, researcher used observation to observe the implementation of video dubbing during teaching learning process and used test to find the improvement of students’ speaking pronunciation during the implementation of video dubbing. The research was conducted in two cycles, where each cycle consisted of 4 meetings. The research findings showed that the implementation of video dubbing could improve students’ speaking pronunciation. It can be concluded that the implementation of video dubbing in learning process has beneficial effect on students’ speaking skill, especially in pronunciation.

ABSTRACT The research aims at utilizing cooperative learning in teaching reading skill for Islamic college students. The research was classroom action research which was conducted in two cycles where each cycle consisted of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The subject were taken from PAI 5 which contained 30 students. The data of this research were obtained from the test, observation checklist, and field notes. The findings of research showed that cooperative learning was effective in developing students’ reading skill. The findings revealed that there were nineteen students who achieved the minimum criteria of achievement in cycle 1, which percentage was 63.3%. In cycle 2, it was found that there were twenty five students who achieved the minimum criteria of achievement, which percentage increased to 83.3%. Both of the classical and individual achievements have met the criteria of success. Besides, students were active in joining classroom activities and completing their classroom tasks. Therefore, it can be concluded that the cooperative learning was effective to develop the students’ reading skill. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memanfaatkan pembelajaran kooperatif dalam pembelajaran keterampilan membaca mahasiswa di perguruan tinggi Islam. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus dimana setiap siklus terdiri dari perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian diambil dari kelas PAI 5 yang terdiri dari 30 mahasiswa. Data penelitian ini diperoleh dari hasil tes, lembar observasi, dan catatan lapangan. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran kooperatif efektif dalam mengembangkan keterampilan membaca mahasiswa. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa ada sembilan belas mahasiswa yang mencapai kriteria pencapaian minimal pada siklus 1, dengan persentase 63,3%. Pada siklus 2, ditemukan bahwa ada dua puluh lima mahasiswa yang mencapai kriteria pencapaian minimum dengan persentase 83,3%. Persentase klasik dan individual telah memenuhi kriteria keberhasilan. Selain itu, mahasiswa aktif mengikuti kegiatan kelas dan menyelesaikan tugas kelas mereka. The study aims to investigate the implementation of  the technique of Reader’s Theatre in the teaching learning process of speaking class at STKIP PGRI Jombang specially at subject of Speaking for Daily Communication. Since The objective of Speaking class is to improve and develop student’s speaking skill fluently, correctly and accurately, the technique of Reader’s Theatre is offered to help students to speak English very well. Students can speak with correct vocabulary, proper pronunciation and good grammar. The subject of the research is students of English department 2017 A and B. The research method isconducted by  describing all activities on speaking for daily communication by using Reader’s Theatre. To collect the data, the researcher uses the instrument by observing the condition of the class during the technique of reader’s theatre applied. The result of the research states that Reader’s Theatre can give a possitive activity to students involved in Speaking class. This study was aimed to improve student’s ability in writing short funcional text congratulation and complimenting using picture sequences at X MA Nurulhidayah Batujajar in the academic year of 2018/2019 as the subject of the study consists 32 students. This study was conducted for two months.The CAR was done based on Kurt Lewins’ design. The writer did two cycles which each cycle consists with planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. For data were gathered through qualitative and quantitative. The qualitative data were gained by analyzing the interview and observation result, while quantitative data were obtained from the students’ writing score of pretest and posttest.The finding of this study showed that there was improvement on the student’s ability in writing short funcional text congratulation and complimenting using picture sequences. It can be seen from the mean score of pretest was 56.75. Then, the mean score of posttest cycle 1 was 66.37 and the mean score of posttest cycle 2 was 72.62. so the criteria of success was achieved. from the result of questionnaire, it showed that there was improvement of positive responses in the teaching-learning process of writing short funcional textcongratulation and complimenting. Related to the result of observation and interview, it can be concluded that the students’ ability in writing short funcional texcongratulation and complimenting using picture sequences improved and the students’ were motivated in the teaching-learning process.

This study attempted to improve students’ achievement in writing report text through numbered heads together. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of the research was class VIII/B at SMP SWASTA UPMI Medan that consisted of 32 students. The research was conducted in two cycles and the first cycle consisted of four meetings and the second cycle consisted of two meetings. The instrument for collecting quantitative data was a writing test and the instrument for collecting quantitative data included diary notes, observation sheets, interview and questionnaire sheets. Based on the writing test score, students’ score kept improving in every test. In test I, the mean was 66,4375, in test II the mean was 78,125 and in test III the mean was 87,5625. Based on the observation sheets and questionnaire sheets, it was found that the teaching learning process ran well. Students were active and interested in writing. The result of the research showed that Number Heads Together (NHT) significantly improved students’ achievement in writing report text. Key Words: Writing, Report, Number Heads Together.
