Toward this goal, four different subtopics are categorized and reviewed. These include the impact of mutual couple conflict, verbal, and emotional abuse/control on children; the impact of father-perpetrated verbal and emotional abuse/control on children; the impact of mother-perpetrated verbal and emotional abuse/control on children; and the impact of partner abuse on the family system including consideration of family stress, boundaries, alliances, and family structure. A review of the literature revealed 105 empirical papers, which are referenced in tables. Overarching theoretical and conceptual frameworks proposed within the field of interparental conflict and child development are used to organize and distill the broad findings evident across these studies. Recommendations for future avenues of research are presented.

This chapter delineates three foundational social questions covering identity and its confluence with society. The authors, deaf academics, use these foundational questions as a framework to examine sociological perceptions of deaf identities. These questions guide the reader to an understanding of the structure of the deaf community, where it stands in human history, and who succeeds in the greater context of society in general. The authors integrate their own personal experiences within an academic framework grounded in sociology to explore the impact of social institutions, including the family, medical and educational systems, and the community influences on the social construction of deaf identities.

This article is devoted to the representation of violence in modern media, in particular — to the features that are inherent in such materials, and also examines the impact of violence in journalistic materials on the audience that consumes the content. The media, as an institution of mass communication, has several basic functions, which are both derived from the needs of society and based on the interests of a particular member of society. At the moment, the attention of many researchers is closely drawn to the influence of the content of various media on the audience, the formation of the perception of individual individuals. Scientists have proven that one of the things that attracts a person is violence, because the audience is interested in «bad» news, watches crime reports. But media violence is still one of the stumbling blocks in contemporary discourse. In the article, we will consider what features are inherent in materials covering cruelty in general and crimes in particular, identify the level of influence of consumed content on the formation of individual characteristics, and also analyze a number of aggressive behavior of the audience depending on the materials

Chapter 17 describes how the concept of mutuality extends well beyond that of mutually owned businesses. Mars itself is entirely owned by the Mars family. Many of the companies described in the book are stock corporations with external shareholders. One of the ways in which family firms can retain a focus on the common purpose of the business after the family has withdrawn or sold out to other shareholders is through ‘industrial foundations’ that confer a substantial fraction of the ownership of firms on foundations. These are particularly commonplace in Denmark and Germany, and some of the most successful companies in the world, such as the shipping company Maersk and the media firm Bertelsmann have these ownership forms. The principle of the Economics of Mutuality is about aligning the interests of diverse parties to a common purpose. This can be adopted in companies with any type of ownership but where it takes the form of, for example, mutuals or foundations, then it creates a commitment to the common purpose that may not be observed to the same degree elsewhere.

This research proved that da’wa materials presented through serial religious soap opera, with good composition, can form da’wa materials which affected teenage religiosity. This research was in line with John C. Lyden in Film as Religion (2003), and Rachel Dwyer in Filming the Gods, Religion and India Cinema (2006), they contended that proselytizing activities with the media, especially film, had stronger effect to audiences, and became easier to understand than that of spoken orally. But it is present as the antithetical research of L. Rowell Huesmann in The Impact of Electronic Media Violence: The Scientific Theory and Research (2007). This research employed qualitative method by using impact analysis technique. The data gained from library study, observation, interviews, objectivity, and documentations.
