To date, the turbojet dual-circuit engine (turbojet) is the most common air-jet aircraft engine due to low fuel consumption and a number of other advantages. The purpose of this work is to develop a software package for calculating the parameters of the flow part of the turbojet with an intuitive and user-friendly modern interface that allows further expansion of the functionality due to the modular architecture. The developed software package is allowed to raise the process of designing the flow part of the turbojet to a higher level, thereby reducing not only the time of its development, but also the costs.

Abstract A software package MenuCAD has been developed for the general need of designing menu-driven, user-friendly CAD computer programs. The main menu is formatted similar to the major contents in the final report of the design project including Contents, Analysis, Sample Design Cases, Illustrations and Tables, References, and Program Listings. Sub-menus are further divided into items delineating the steps involved in the design. Screen help messages are provided for design of the main menu and sub-menus interactively and for applying the arrow keys on the keyboard to select a sub-menus and a particular item in the sub-menu in order to execute a desired design step. MenuCAD builds the framework, its user has to supplement with a subroutine ExecItem for describing the special features and for directing how each design step should be executed in the project. A CAD design of four-bar linkage project is presented as a sample application of this package.

The analysis of the values of the concentrations of the formed nitrogen oxides and the temperatures of the jet plume under various conditions of mixture formation is carried out. The plots of the distribution of torch temperatures and concentrations of nitric oxide in the calculated area for oxidizer temperatures of 20, 60, 100, 150, and 200 ° C were obtained and analyzed. Mathematical modeling of the gaseous fuel combustion process was carried out using the FlowVision software package. An analysis of the results showed that a decrease in the temperature of the air supplied as an oxidizing agent leads to a significant decrease in the concentration of nitrogen oxides in flue gases, while not significantly affecting the change in the flame temperature. The research results can be used to solve the problems of optimizing boiler plants, in order to reduce harmful flue gas emissions. Further modeling is planned to determine the dependence of the influence of various factors on the degree of formation of nitrogen oxides in the flue gases of boiler plants.

This report's objective is to reduce the total pressure loss coefficient of an inlet guide vane (IGV) at high stagger angles and to therefore reduce the overall fuel consumption of an aircraft engine. IGVs are usually optimized for cruise where the stagger angle is approximately 0 degrees. To reduce losses, four different methodologies were tested: increasing the leading edge radius, increasing the camber, creating a "drooped nose", and creating an "S" curvature distribution. A baseline IGV was chosen and modified using these methodologies to create 10 new IGV designs. CFX was used to perform a CFD analysis on all 11 IGV designs at 5 stagger angles from 0 to 60 degrees. Typical missions were analyzed and it was discovered that the new designs decreased the fuel consumption of the engine. The IGV with the "S" curvature and thicker leading edge was the best and decreased the fuel consumption by 0.24%.

Hybridization is important to obtain the advantages of both the engine and motor as the sources of propulsion. This paper discusses the effect of hybridization of powertrain on vehicle performance. The Hybrid architectures are differentiated on the basis percentage of power dependency on the engine and motor. Passenger car with hybridization ratios of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% are modelled on MATLAB/Simulink using the backward facing approach with the engine and motor specifications remaining constant. The hybridizations ratios and the energy consumption in terms of fuel and battery energy are obtained from the model and compared. Neural network is implemented to determine the fuel consumption. The outputs can be used by a system designer to determine a desirable hybridization factor based on the requirements dictated by the specific application.

A technique was developed for determining the minimum specific fuel consumption of a two-circuit turbojet engine using statistical data on the polytropic efficiency of individual compressor and turbine stages. The proposed method allows the presence of a technological advantage in specific fuel consumption compared to similar engines to be identified at the initial stage of designing a two-circuit turbojet engine.

ABSTRACTInfrared signal measurements from a micro-turbojet engine are conducted to understand the characteristics of the engine performance and the infrared signal by varying the exhaust nozzle configuration. A cone type nozzle and five rectangle type nozzles whose aspect ratios vary from one to five are used for this experimental work. As a result, it is confirmed that the thrust and the fuel consumption rate of the engine do not change greatly by varying the exhaust nozzle shape. In the case of the aspect ratio of 5, the specific fuel consumption of the engine is increased by about 3% compared to the reference cone nozzle, but the infrared signal can be reduced by up to 14%. As a result of measuring the temperature distribution of the plume gas, the correlation of infrared signal with plume gas temperature distribution can be understood. In the case of a cone shape, the distribution of plume gas formed to circular shape, and the high-temperature core region of plume gas continued to develop farther to the downstream. However, the temperature distribution was maintained in the rectangular shape as the aspect ratio increased, and the average temperature decreased sharply. As the aspect ratio increases, the plume spreads more widely.
