Hybrid aerial underwater vehicles (HAUV) are newly borne vehicle concepts, which could fly in the air, navigate underwater, and cross the air-water surface repeatedly. Although there are many problems to be solved, the advanced concept, which combines the integrated multidomain locomotion of both water and air mediums is worth exploring. This paper presents the water–air trans-media status of the HAUV from the perspective of the configuration and trans-media control. It shows that the multi-rotor HAUV is relatively mature and has achieved a stable water–air trans-media process repeatedly. The morphing HAUV is still in its exploration stage, and has achieved partial success.

Based on the research of wave loads calculation methods for the submarine and ship, compared the date of wave loads obtained by strip theory with that obtained by linear-simplified calculation method, we proved the engineering feasibility of linear-simplified calculation method of wave loads on underwater vehicles cabin when sailing on the water surface and near the water surface, the linear-simplified calculation method shorten the calculation cycle and guarantee the engineering accuracy.

Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV) are slowly operated unmanned robots which Capable of propelling on pre-defined mission tracks independently under the water surface and are frequently used for oceanographic exploration, bathymetric surveys and defense applications. This AUV can perform underwater object recognition and obstacle avoidance with the use of appropriate sensors and devices. Vidyut is a miniature AUV developed at Sri Sairam Institute of Technology. The vehicle is equipped with six thrusters which allow for motion control in 6 Dof and has a non-conventional single hull heavy bottom hydrodynamic design. This paper discusses different aspects of the vehicle's unique design. The output of the Arduino Uno controller has been discussed for continuous depth and heading control.

During the past investigations of immunoferritin localization of intracellular antigens in ultrathin frozen sections, we found that the degree of negative staining required to delineate u1trastructural details was often too dense for the recognition of ferritin particles. The quality of positive staining of ultrathin frozen sections, on the other hand, has generally been far inferior to that attainable in conventional plastic embedded sections, particularly in the definition of membranes. As we discussed before, a main cause of this difficulty seemed to be the vulnerability of frozen sections to the damaging effects of air-water surface tension at the time of drying of the sections.Indeed, we found that the quality of positive staining is greatly improved when positively stained frozen sections are protected against the effects of surface tension by embedding them in thin layers of mechanically stable materials at the time of drying (unpublished).

ABSTRACT A brief comparison of phenethyl-biguanide (D. B. I.) with other oral hypoglycaemic drugs is made. A series of 31 juvenile diabetics treated with D. B. I. is described, and the reasons for partial success or failure are considered. The advantages and dangers of the drug are discussed. It is concluded that the unique action of this drug may give it a place in the treatment of juvenile diabetes.

In this paper, a commercial CFD code, ANSYS-Fluent has been used to investigate the effect of mesh number generated in the computed domain on the CFD aerodynamic performances of a container ship. A full-scale model of the 1200TEU container ship has been chosen as a reference model in the computation. Five different mesh numbers for the same dimension domain have been used and the CFD aerodynamic performances of the above water surface hull of the ship have been shown. The obtained CFD results show a remarkable effect of mesh number on aerodynamic performances of the ship and the mesh convergence has been found. The study is an evidence to prove that the mesh number has affected the CFD results in general and the accuracy of the CFD aerodynamic performances in particular.
